  1. Savlon as much as you can to disinfect and clean as best you can. Get some opsite dressing (shave as much as you can around the wound so your hair does not get stuck to it) Leave opsite on for 3 - 4 days. Opsite will cause the plasma leaking from the wound to form a barrier and speed up skin growth - after the plasma is absorbed back into skin, remove and see if you need to put aother one on. Came off last week - went opsite way on arm and various other ways on leg. Arm is almost 100% today - new skin and everything. Just make sure you disinfect as best you can to help kill the bad guys. If it becomes more sore under the opsite, open and disinfect again. The fact that there are foreign things is not a critical prob, infection is the big thing - mate of my wife was in bad vehicle accident and months afterwards pieces of glass would still pop out of her forehead - your body will expell those fine objects, you must just help it fight infection. Another plan is ask your pharmacist Wernervdmerwe2010-02-21 04:54:52
  2. Ok... I obviously miss out on much of Majik. I either turn left into the singletrack at the beacon (after the second hill), or go down the dip turn left at the new marker, which then takes me into the singletrack. How do you get to this fence trail?
  3. That is seriously cool...
  4. Well, got one of these fine pieces or equipment - must say, audio and video quality is absolutely great! I do have one concern though - we went to practice some table tops and small jumps this morning, and took it along for some footage. Firstly, I mounted the camera facing too low, so for the first part you have a great view of the piece of single track immediately in front of the bike, but that was my fault. We then made turns to hold the camera while the other guy does the jumps so we can scrutinise our mad skills afterwards and see where (and if) we could improve - makes sense right? Problem is though, on the one jump, I pulled some serious air, felt like I could cook a steak in the time I was sailing through the air, but looking at the footage, I barely lifted off the ground?! Anyone else found this with these cameras? Disclosure - the camera is great and works wonderful, would have just been nice to blame something else!Wernervdmerwe2010-02-06 08:46:30
  5. Most people ride with Shimano. Virgin active even have SPD pedals on some of their spinning bikes. I would say go for what most people in the group you ride with use, as it makes swapping bikes and trying out stuff a lot easier. All but one of the guys in our group that use cleats rides with SPD's - and just being able to quickly swap bikes and try a stretch of trail with another bike is hugely helpful - specially if you like tweaking your bike.
  6. Things he repeated most: 1. Looking for a helping hand? -Look at the end of your arm! 2. It is only people that make you cry
  7. This is a horrible thread... I have a function tonight, and still have to write a 4 page non-academic assignment the weekend (introspective take on yourself, strength and weaknesses where it can impact your counselling ability) - and now I will have to put Sat morning aside as well to get on a bike, because of THIS thread!.... This is gonna be one tough end-of-week!Wernervdmerwe2010-02-04 05:18:48
  8. I once heard / read that they mix it with Stans, or, even more weird - anti-freeze.
  9. PM Nokia4me. They commute to town from Tblview, group of 3 or 4
  10. I also only heard good things about the agents - this from two LBS owners, so maybe somewhere someone is not telling the truth?
  11. I am enjoying mine - makes a huge difference. Maybe look at the KS Cobra as well - it has 4" or " drop, the Joplin sometimes feel like you could use a little bit more drop, specially on very technical trails and jumps. But that is going on hearsay - as I said, I have been very happy. If you want to go extreme of course, you could get teh black mamba with 9" of travel!
  12. Any reason why Reba is not in the mix, or just personal pref? RS needs less maintenance, and their local support is quite a bit better (my experience)
  13. I suffer from the nasty comfort-braking habit - when we ride Welvanpas I can smell my brakes once we reach the orchids - a drop of water is reduced to vapour the moment they touch the pads - not the best thing to do, but still a nifty party trick. Also bigger guys will see the heat build-up more - so if you have possibly not experience it, you might just be on the lighter side!
  14. 'Better' is hard to quantify. The Anthem is the more popular though
  15. Yeah, if you are concerned about the threads, I normally screw the bolt in there and knock that in. Goes in very easy

  17. if those are your options, my personal opinion would be the Trance - great all-mountain, go anywhere bike
  18. Try shortening your chain one or two links - that did the trick for me.
  19. 1.82m...sounds like a large to me? mtbgoat - maybe pop in to a bike shop and sit on a few bikes to get the size sorted - it is really important to get a bike that fits well, and, once you have it, have it set up - makes a world of difference.
  20. Now there's an image I can do without
  21. I once heard that 1 in 5 adults have them, and 1 in 3 have them internally - most of these people are not even aware they have 'em! So... Gasping, Mackimoo and The Break - own up - which of you have them suckers on the inside you are not aware of?!
  22. Can they replace the steerers on road forks too? Not sure - maybe give them a shout?
