  1. The most heroic ride must go to Eppie who spent a long day in the saddle together with another rider from CT whose name I forgot, sorry. Respect!
  2. Others seen in Montagu, Ollfie1, Kamaalo ............ It was also special to meet Kevin and his wife Bridget, Eugene all from Sedgefield and see Dane (HunterCycles), Marvin, Joost, Dale,
  3. Any F head can fly his glass bike in the wind but takes a bit more to ride in these conditions, but not impossible.
  4. That Bianchi looks lovely Neill. With Eroica the week after Argus, I am only taking one bike each for my wife and I so plan to ride my pre '65 Cinelli. Wish I could ditch the helmet but that would be pushing it too far with the fashion police. Eppie, recognise the old buggered Cinelli saddle? Finally found its new home.
  5. Please tell us how much you pay to ride the trails?
  6. sorry-0
  7. sorry-o
  8. Sorry-o!
  9. GP4's are some of my favourite hoops!
  10. So, I believe the Eroica ride is on the weekend of the 18th March. I have a few bits I can't use and offer them for sale. Please PM me an offer for any of the items: 1. Cannondale Team Issue leather lace-up shoes with Look cleats. Nylon mesh sides. Size UK8 (42). 2. A small, unused strip helmet. Its a small, 54-55cm I would think. 3. I have another pair of older Cannondale leather lace-ups. Size estimated at UK8 to 8.5. The leather is supple and they include clip-in cleats. The original owner appeared to have used inner sole inserts and hence the inner soles are in prefect condition.
  11. Is anyone able to shed some light as to the origin and background to this panto triple t stem found on an old steed? Mauro Galloni must have been someone to have had the panto done. Google was not my friend this time. Other parts found were from late 70's maybe early 80's.

  13. That Eddy Merckx is a rare thing of beauty. Love the large/small flange Record rear hub!
  14. So nice!
  15. Not many friends who visit my Man Cave appreciate these beauties but I figured the guys trolling this thread might. I got them off an old Lejeune my wife had when we first met and took them off when I sold it as I'd never seen a set like them before. They honestly look like they've been engraved by hand although I doubt it Lovely! I am missing a headset, FD and brake callipers to complete my groupset. I have clamp on down tube shifters which are so cool.
  16. Haha! Looks like I will be importing another set of Cinelli decals after my latest find!
  17. HELP PLEASE! I am looking for a part for an early DA groupset and would appreciate anyone who can assist. The item is a Shimano Dura Ace 7100 series rear derailleur. Here is a picture of the part. I am willing to consider one of these!
  18. As part of a package to buy a Gios Super Record frame I acquired this early 80's FW Evans which I rebuilt over the holidays. Needs new rubber and some mudguards (anyone know a SA lbs that stocks guards?).
  19. Thankful my boys never got to beat me in any race although they were quicker than me in the sprint! Unfortunately we had over cycled them when they were teens and they stopped riding.
  20. Just happened to see this thread. Brings back many memories of my boys cycle rides. Great post! The last year my youngest started to ride again and borrowed one of my road bikes. It's been a pleasure riding with him again and I look forward to my eldest and his wife joining us in 2017.
  21. Regarding the Mavic rims. Leave them as they are. Unfortunately most CD4's and others wore through, probably due to the hard brake block compound in the 80's. To improve braking on the 600's, which was good at the time, get some soft compound aftermarket brake blocks
  22. I agree with Kamaalo. I would completely strip the bike and then wash and clean each part repacking all the moving parts like headset, jockey wheels (don't open the casing holding the RD spring), wheel hubs and BB. When frame still bare go to hobby shop and match the paint with little pots of paint which you use to touch up major scrapes. Use small brush. Finish with a coat or two of car wax polish and then rebuild the bike. If you lucky you will find new hoods for the brake levers. A nice old Rolls or classic saddle and new bar tape and tyres and you have a nice ride.
  23. Worst bike I have seen this year. It should be green to match my envy.
  24. Gipiemme by Simplex Thought I had a pair if these Gipiemme DT shifter but only found one. Will check over the weekend. Very similar to these Ofmega levers. Modolo levers similar to Gipiemme branded ones.
