  1. You can't bury your head in the sand to escape reality. The Sharks avatar will continue to haunt you into next season.
  2. You are absolutely right about that. Unfortunately there still lingers a hint of it with Meyer and if he ties up again with Matfield it can only get worse. Read Victor's book and here you find a man who only lives in the land North of the Hex river both in body and mind. I hope that the hinted association is only a rumour. Perhaps one area where we must compliment him is the fact that he is prepared to play overseas based players who made a difference this year, something the AB's are loathe to do.
  3. Meyer is a coach that is good in letting players express themselves and he has introduced structures and good choices of strength that suit the current modern game. ( Loose forwards and a flat defensive pattern.) However I have 2 problems with him: His fixation with replacing key players at critical times, and his love affair with Victor Matfield. A great player who was head and shoulders above the rest in his specialty, (Lineouts, with Bakkies support) but he has moved on and we have a great choice of youngsters to develop for the world cup. For physicality to match the best in the world, he needs to really pair up Etsebeth( Pity about the injury) and Peter Steph Du Toit. This, combined with our great loosies and a front row that is already ahead of the rest will see us walking tall at the world cup.( Beware the Aussies though, they are streeysmart- ask the Welsh)
  4. I remember a quote made by Naas Botha when Natal won the Currie Cup in 1990: " They haven't won it for a hundred years, and won't win it again for a hundred years"Famous last words.................?
  5. Sorry to disappoint you but I originate from Shark country, am and always will be a fan of the best team in the country. There was a time that I believed in the Bulls but they seem now to be stumbling from one inept action to the next.As for commenting about my brainpower perhaps you've been living in Grootrivier too long, not much happens there does it? Finishing top of the conference and Currie Cup log means nothing if it is only a result that flatters to deceive.
  6. I have never been a Schalk Burger fan but yesterday he showed us why he is highly rated. It will be good to see him back, but he has some hairy competition. Bismarck and Duane also showed why they are rated with the best in the world
  7. Problem is that he spends too much time in the bin and we would be captainless anyway!
  8. The Bulls were already "Invisibull" at most of their games last season, so what will be different. The Puma ad runs like a horror movie and this epitomises the state of Bulls rugby right now!
  9. My son was riding the section after Millers Point as the Smitswinkel climb starts yesterday morning at about 10:30 Am and was forced from the road by 2 coloured guys on a battered Suzuki motorcycle. One was armed with a pistol and they warned him to not look their way as they emptied his pockets of his I-phone and spare cash that he was carrying. They then rode off trying to drag his bike with them. After about 700m up the hill they ditched his bike over the edge of the road and rode off. He managed to get to the ditched bike and other than a few scratches and 2 broken spokes he was able to get the SAPS and do the necessary. An observation - while he was walking up the hill, in full kit, the only offers of assistance he received were from a tour bus and 2 MTB'ers. A couple of roadies passed with hardly a glance. As I said, only an observation.............! We have a new scourge now on sections that used to be safe riding.
  10. Tolhekke? Dit is een van die grootste uitgawes om Laeveld toe te gaan.
  11. Must be an easy line of study or the supermarket that sells these degrees/diplomas was having a special. Don't forget the last expose of a top cop whose academic qualifications were found to be fraudulent.
  12. One of the most disappointing recent issues was that of Cyril Ramaphosa singing the praises of Zuma and his merry bunch of thieves. This was a man that I used to have a high level of respect for, but now I fear that there are no longer any bastions of hope within this barrel of rotten apples. Those of you who remember Magoo's will recall that it was a student and young peoples hangout, most of whom did not support the apartheid government of the time. The victims included 2 girls of Indian origins who innocently became victims of a cowardly belly crawling snake. What a pity that 1994 came too soon for this a......e to be executed as he should have been. That also includes the Wit Wolf who also has no place in society today.
  13. There is a big difference between being a freedom fighter for a just cause, which overturning apartheid was, or just being a common criminal. Our government have now moved on from being former freedom fighters to a bunch of till raiding common criminals.
  14. That's a fact but all the ranting about doing own maintenance is compounded by this incompetence. Anything to do with brakes start with a check of the brake pads. If they clamed they bled your wife's brakes(and charged you for it) then I would demand a refund. How do you bleed brakes properly without compressing the pistons?
  15. Meyer needs to now pair up the two talents that we have in Etsebeth and Du Toit. We were though up against a very canny lineout man in Jones. He can be disruptive at the best of times.
  16. If you are unsure about tighthead, what makes you choose a totally unplayed and untried Goosen at pivot. I also wonder just what Bismarck has to do more to convince the amateur critics that he is the best hooker in the world. Once again take into context the strength of the side that we BEAT on Saturday.
  17. It seems to me from the comments that most of the armchair critics forgot a few simple points...............Wales are the current six nations champs, They had 11 Lions players in their side, we played them at home and, last, not least, the All Blacks battled to get their game together against the six nations wooden spoon team. Come on guys, drop the provincialism and give the players the kudos they deserve. They beat the best the Northern hemisphere Team!
  18. How many other "Chjops" are there in the side? Jannie remains one of the best tightheads in the world and in a specialised position such as this we are very thin on the ground in SA. Looseheads are a tiekie a dozen and I believe that a talent such as Stephen Kitshoff should be converted now. He has age and growing strength on his side.
  19. LOUIS SCHREUDER..........................probably the worst player on the park on Saturday! I am once again in a dark place with Meyer.
  20. The journos that called the final result wrong will try anything to change the views of the rugby loving public. Team choices such as these are ridiculous. Look at the two teams who ended up in the final and who were the 2 most consistent through the season. This was the problem with the media......they just don't acknowledge that they got it all wrong. Especially the Cape media. Suddenly yesterday it was crucify Coetzee. Last week ..........unbeatable!
  21. Obviously this crime situation has been taken care of for our "beloved" president. Now you know why his Nkandla security upgrade cost so much!
  22. This is something that I find confusing? Is it because they are too fast for the cycle lanes, or are they just plain stupid. We all know that Marine Drive is Cape Town's unofficial dragstrip.
  23. To get back to rugby and especially Saturday's game, there is no doubt that we were beaten by a far more street smart team, and for a great game of rugby, congratulations to both teams. Nobody can doubt that the no1 and no2 teams were on the field. Even though Heyneke showed his lack of experience at this level, he will grow with his team. I share the frustration of the momentum destroying substitutions and the sudden loss of our strength on defence. This is a team that can get better and we may be behind the Kiwis at the moment, but 2015 is what is going to count and we all know what so often happens at world cup time. One of the most promising things are the number of under 21 world champs who are coming through and in 2015 they will have passed their baptism of fire.
  24. Northern Transvaal were only established in 1938.
  25. Anybody keen to bet on number of cards to-day? Better still, how many illegal moves Richie McCaw gets away with?
