    Rugby...

I have been off the page recently but where is Peter De Villiers. His scrummaging knowledge that made us top of the scrums last year seems to be sorely missed.
  2. That's what your"informed" opinion is worth - 2c.
  3. Tim Noakes didn't profess to be a dietician when he "Refined" Banting lifestyle. He had the guts to refute his own writings about carbo loading and the like in his previous books. Atkins was the diet, and it worked for many thousands of people. The LCHF lifestyle is simply an extension of this and a a way to reverse the western world's obesity epidemic( You don't have be an expert to recognise this) and remove some of the "crap" forced down our throats by the yanks from research by their own "experts" merely to gain control over their agricultural industry, and the rest of the world. Sound familiar?
  4. Anybody know these? The sharpest and longest lasting edge of all of my collection.
  5. I have had 2 cases of buyers making meeting arrangements and then not pitching. Even one where the person in question started with "I will take them".
  6. There was a time long, long ago when SAB beers were full bodied and brewed just right. Lion was one of those! My very first beer back in 1969. They also brewed a lion Ale - who remembers those? Now their offering is all about fast turnaround bulk and a skimp on quality, IMHO. Castle Lite at best is like horse p--s, again IMHO. A genuine pilsener is not easy to find, but there are some fine Craft versions. I settle now for Windhoek Light but find Pilsener Urquel quite enjoyable. Hansa Draft when you can get it is normally good. But always a matter of individual taste.
  7. Probably stating the obvious but do you wash your new tires with liquid detergent soap before fitting them? Some manufacturers have a residue on the inside after the manufacturing process. I have a set of R/R that have stood for up to 3 months with no movement and minimal air loss. Another tip is to swirl the sealant around the tyre before sealing.
  8. Jeroen Swart is one of the most down to earth experts in sports medicine and nutrition. For these reasons his sharing of his professional knowledge and advice deserves some respect, instead of the cynicism and sarcasm. Much of what he shares is available free and this alone is an indication of the self belief of the man.
  9. Anaesthetists feel they are sucking the hind tit behind the specialists and theatre time so they have all upped their rates. As for the pre op assessment this is the biggest rip off of all.
  10. Saw a billboard that said his B sample was clean? Anybody seen or confirmed this.
  11. Fitted X0 to my Turner with X0 twist shifters 2 years ago and have never looked back. I ran the cables totally encased and rain, hail, mud or shine have never even been forced into a cable replacement. I did it by choice a few months ago and as smooth as a baby's bum.
  12. I've said it before, why change to slavishly be a follower of fashion. A middle of the pack and social rider mostly doesn't need the so-called advantages. I would also love to own a Cannondale Flash Carbon, but if the same bike was available in 26", how much of a difference would there be, other than spending an extra 20 or 30k on top of a spend already in the 50's or 60's.
  13. One wonders whether we are not victims of so-called fancy technology. I, for one never use a remote unit to lock or unlock my vehicles. The good old key into the doorlock still operates the immobiliser and alarm and nobody can clone my remote signal.

    Rugby...

You have put it completely in context! Suddenly a flood of All Blacks are converging on Europe, I wonder why?

Can you cut your earnings by half and then stop working at 35?

    Rugby...

Perhaps he is following some good advice regarding his future physical well being. ( And financial) Its surely not all about cracking records regarding numbers of appearances like certain other players seem focused on. How many of you out there have the same problems that I now have with knees and ankles, even elbows and wrists which are directly attributable to my rugby days? And then there seems to be a profusion of head and neck injuries that hold serious implications for the future. My list directly as a result of "Rugby trauma" Both knees - cartilage and right knee meniscus Right ankle - Broken and now seriously arthritic Right wrist - Broken and seriously arthritic 4 stage neck fusion, mal alignment due to trauma. Never in an accident but horribly distorted during a club game back in the old days.( A few Voltarens and a massage ) At least the medical care to-day is immediate and good but will not necessarily hold back long term effects. One of the reasons why, with respect and a certain amount of admiration, I question Schalk Burger returning to the game.

    Rugby...

Seems to have helped them to top spot! Most of the other teams are playing the same game.
  18. Was his face and hands smeared in Kentucky grease?

    Rugby...

Was I imagining it or did the Sharks look exhausted. That's not to say that the Stormers played good rugby, but this is evidence that the Super system is not allowing players recovery time. They played a tight winning game in NZ and I think it took it out of them. It didn't help that Hynecke " Blue" Meyer decided on a training camp that would have forced a lot extra effort by so many of the players and cut into the franchise training and I believe this affected the Bulls, Sharks and Stormers( To a lesser degree). The Lions were able to build up their "Gees" over a whole week and it showed in their approach. The injury lists surely tell a sad story. Again............what else does Reinach have to do to catch Meyer's eye?
  20. I've totalled 2 Bell helmets at Jonkers over the last 3 years, damage to me? Bruised ego! So I will keep on wearing them.
  21. Squirt forever! Over applying any lube will cause problems. Clean properly, apply, remove excess until you can run chain between your fingers without noticeable residue. I find that cleaning a chain and sprockets that have been using Squirt is just so much easier as well. Each unto his own theory though!
  22. The "All Knowing Hub"!However there are some members who have technical advice that you will pay for at most LBS's.
