  1. Much like a BMX this technology utilised the front freehub concept. the rear hub is fixed but the cassette can change while pedalling.
  2. I have a friend who has a Megamo Trials bike. His front freehub needs replacing but these seem just no longer available. Does anyone out there know much about this technology and whether any alternative method exists to get this back to working order. Any advice would be really appreciated.
  3. Any Hubbers out there who have made a comeback from a full shoulder replacement? I am still in the loooong recovery stage but I am hoping that getting back on the bike will be a possibility. I realise that if and when I can get back on the bike it will be with some limitations. Anybody done it?
  4. An update on my Achilles Rupture. I am happy to say that I am back into riding for 3 months now and other than a bit of weakness in the right leg I have no other side effects. As soon as I could I started with a program at Virgin Active, concentrating on the damaged leg and it took a while to improve but I could feel the internal scar tissue breaking down over a number of weeks and now it is back to normal. The great advice I received from this forum was invaluable, especially regarding circulation around the damage. For this I use a compression type support and after a session the evidence of circulation improvement can be seen and felt. With regards to the antibiotic effect, I was treated heavily for an infection before the event and it does appear as if GP's are now much more aware of the potential effect. I now won't touch the stuff. Patience and good advice coupled with discipline are the key factors I believe.
  5. Good luck, Follow the rehab protocol and most of all, be patient! I am in week 7 after the cast removal and I am back in gym but following the suggested exercise routine with focus on stationary cycling. This is apparently excellent to also improve circulation around the ankle and tendon. Say goodbye to your calf, but in time it starts coming back. Good luck.
  6. I can't unfortunately but it was one of those broad range types.
  7. Thanks for your excellent advice. I will be following up on issues such as set up and setings. The physio I worked with was very good and the rehab is going well, but at a controlled( ) pace. I was fortunately quite fit when the problem developed and this has helped. Regards, Graham.
  8. I had tendonitis for 2 months before the rupture and was taking Cataflam on and off and Flexadrin. I took some visitors on a hike up the mountain and the condition worsened to the point where I couldn't ride. I was painting at home and slipped on a ladder which then caused the tendon to rupture.I was on anti biotics in september, one month before the rupture for flu.
  9. I ruptured my Achilles tendon in October which necessitated surgery, 7 weeks in casts and now weeks(Months) of rehab excercises. What is the general opinion about getting back on a bike. My healing is going very well, I am walking quite comfortably but my lost calf is still in hiding. I have been told that I should look at 6 months from the date of the surgery. Already suffering major withdrawal symptoms.
  10. I was attacked by one of these coming off Bloemenice a few months ago, hit me with some force a couple of times.
  11. Especially if you are going dome tent. The extra half meter makes a difference with the sloping sides.
  12. If you are a stall hilder at the Expo will there be a refund discount for dissuading people to attend?
  13. If you are riding alone it would be better to go into marine drive at Paarden Eiland and ride in to Heerengracht on a short section of what was the N1 where you can branch off into the city route through the Waterfront and on to Camps Bay via Sea Point. During the period you are planning to ride the highway section should be quiet.
  14. Can you back this up with an experience or facts?
  15. Morningside Cycles in Rivonia are local agents.
  16. Would you call the drop he landed a sitter, or the final goalkick from the touchline? Perhaps his "Guppie" vision works better under pressure.
  17. So he was only half guilty, much like Oscar!
  18. Come on the Hub judges and jury, give us an answer on this one!
  19. Try washing your really greasy bits with a harder brush and Prepsol 1:1 and the rest of your bike with a softer brush at 1,5:1. Fine spray to remove.
  20. South African rugby has become servants to the benefit of Sanzar. The Currie Cup has become watered down to the point where it is a third class competition. Sponsors must be wondering whether it is a good idea to keep throwing money at it. And now with enforced quotas and the fact that our top players are not playing for their ticket paying supporters who see the Currie Cup as the true face of SA rugby, I think we are going to see less and less local support. As for the favoured team, EP Kings - in there for development, how many darker faces do you see on the field?
  21. I contacted the company and within half an hour the manager came back to me, he has identified the driver and will take it further and keep me in the loop. From a snarl to a smile.
  22. This A.M. at about 9:00 I was approaching the second circle at Blouberg in the Melkbos direction. A Merc Sprinter/ Vito from the company Longspan Gutters passed me and brushed right up against me almost pushing me over the kerb into the flowerbeds. I had slowed up to yield for traffic with right of way in the circle and this a........le cut in front of this vehicle as well. I will be contacting the company and as I have part of a registration I will see what rection I get.
  23. Please be seated..................the Hub court is in session!
  24. I have been off the page recently but where is Peter De Villiers. His scrummaging knowledge that made us top of the scrums last year seems to be sorely missed.
  25. That's what your"informed" opinion is worth - 2c.
