  1. Red bikes are definitely faster.
  2. Now postponed to 19th August due to the taxi strike in Cape Town.
  3. Would have to search my spares box
  4. I had the exact same problem. The tiny spring behind the pin collapsed and the pin no longer made contact with the battery. After many "fixes" including paper, wire, glue and solder I had to eventually replace the derailleur. I could not find anyone that could repair it. Sorry for the bad news but good luck
  5. Wish that we could still do that. It was such great safe training. Every time I drive past Kyalami I see the track empty and think what a waste.
  6. Go down the N3 to Harrismith.
  7. Not aware of any crime incidents at SBR and often cycle there on my own. Once had an unrepairable puncture and had a long walk and long wait for assistance !
  8. I have done this a few times and going again this year. I have never paid importation or customs duty fees. Check your airline regulations and you will most probably pay for extra baggage or sports goods. A good bike bag makes packing and transport much easier. Evoc for the win here. Note all the tips mentioned in above posts. Get to the airport check in early. Riding in Suisse is great. Drivers are generally civilised and respectful, cycle lanes everywhere and of course the mountain's are beyond words. Enjoy!
  9. YUP, me to. The best riding ever
  10. Suikerbosrand
  11. Yes they were, but despite the early start it still got very hot going up the valley and the last loop. SBR always a good training ride but start early !
  12. OK thanks. Will try at 06.00 tomorrow
  13. Can anyone confirm what time the SBR gates are opening in the morning.
  14. I too have e mails confirming and promising a refund for the non existent tours to the pans. When I actioned this he had the audacity to threaten me with legal action! It is a failing of our government, legal system and society that this type of low life can continue to operate with impunity. There are no words bad enough to describe him and his ilk.
  15. Just do it. Just do it. Just do it. I have just done exactly that. Hired a van, loaded three bikes and spent a week riding and following TDF. Saw all the riders, hurled encouragement until I lost my voice on Alp de Huez, shivered on the top of Col de Galibier, enjoyed and marveled the ride up and down col de croix der fer- what a beautiful ride. The atmosphere and the cycling culture is something to experience. And yes we had croissants and coffee for breakfast in little villages on our rides. Magic. Just do it
