  1. Far more profitable for the Epic to have riders pull out / not make cut-off. Catering for 800 people for 8 days versus planning to start catering for 800 people and taper it down to 400 7 days later.
  2. Not sure if I am at fault. But I'm looking for a specific saddle. It comes up now and then in the classifieds off of someones new bike and they change the saddle. Problem is the saddle is advertised on here as new and at full market price. I query and offer less based on the fact I am not getting any warranties with the product. Am I being unreasonable or not?
  3. Where does the bike hub community stand on this issue. This bike was advertised not long ago for R35k. I was sad I missed out when contacting seller. Now being resold for R50k. Is it just my bad luck or is this not right? https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/dual-suspension-bikes/405564/specialized-epic-expert-xl-bm4187
  4. I found a camelback in the parking area after our ride yesterday (11 Feb) at around 11:20am. Please PM me if it is yours or you know who's camelback it is. Thanks
  5. This was my 3rd year in a row and it was the best route and ride out of the 3 years. Well done guys! I thinking seeding riders is a must for next year due to the growth of the event. I'm a solid mid-pack rider and within the first 10kms of riding I almost got taken out 3 times by faster riders having absolutely no regard for the safety of people they were over taking. I can only imagine they arrived late to the venue and hence were stuck near the back of the start chute.
  6. I thought it was a fantastic event! The setting was spectacular and Stillwater Sports managed the event extremely well and professionally. I was expecting and easy pedal over the weekend but I struggled out there. The route was far tougher than I anticipated and I was grateful that the water points are well stocked.
  7. So for 2 years I've been relying on the gauge on my pump to set my tyre pressure at 1.9bar rear and 1.6bar front. I weigh 93kg's. Last week I went and bought a digital pressure gauge and according to that; what I thought was 1.9bar is in fact 1.6 bar and my front tyre was not 1.6ar but 1.3bar. Now my question is do I leave it at 1.6 and 1.3 cause I never had any issues or do I change to the correct 1.9 and 1.6 which feels way hard now.
  8. Saw a certain pretty pink pyga at the Trail Head this morning. You would have sworn I had just seen Angelina Jolie I was so nervous/excited.
  9. So that's how you supposed use those mounds of sand!
  10. I weigh 93kg's, riding Ardent 2.25 at the back and Spez Ground Control 2.3 in front. Tyre pressure at 1.7 for front and 1.9 at the back. Tried many variations and this works best for me.
  11. That sucks! He must be devastated not being able to cross the line in Paris. Always next year and most probably a far stronger and smarter rider in next year's tour.
  12. I've had the system installed for over 3 weeks now. Did Clarens Marathon in that period and the system is still secure. That being said, I have tightened it extremely tight and before every ride I have given it a twist to make sure it hasn't come loose.
  13. Unlucky Emil! Broken arm on day 2! I was really gunning for this team.
  14. My wife and I (In Food Lover's Market kit - Batch E) did our first marathon after starting mountain biking a year ago. Finished in 4:40. Garmin measured an average temp of 32 and max of 39. The route was everything I expected from what I had read. The water points were great and at just the correct distances apart. Thanks to all the volunteers involved cause without them it would not be possible. It grates me a little reading about all the complaints on here with regards to the water points. Without these people, the events wouldn't be possible. The behavior of all the adult competitors was great except for the teenagers doing the 25km. My wife and I almost got taken out by a few of them on the single track just before their turn-off. I had a big smile on my face when I saw the same teenagers on the tar road having to turn around because they missed their turn-off. So if your son was at the front end of the 25km race, please teach them some etiquette.
  15. Also only received great service from Matthew and Easybike.
