  1. Advice please for a newbie.....I started running about a year ago with two 5km runs a week. Sometimes a bit further and some weeks 3 times. Weekends are for cycling. This past weekend I did my first 10km race and finished with a time of 1:02. I see it as a start somewhere. My question now - I want to become faster - a lot faster. My aim is to do a 10km in 50min by end of January. Will this be possible and what training must I do to achieve this?
  2. You all seems to be pro oval. I like the oval, but when I stand and padal it feels like there is a dead spot...exactly what the oval is supposed to remove. Anyone with the same experience?
  3. Well spot nr 3 (tie) for me .... so near yet so far...
  4. What would you say who is in for the Epic win....Team Langvad or Team Luthi?
  5. Another question: The main reason for starting running is to train in a limited time during the week. You guys doing cycling and running - how will running improve my cycling? EmptyB said it improved his cycling pace and climbing - what is the rest of your experiences?
  6. I am also a newbie... Started running in October for the first time in my life, I started run/walk 2km and upped gradually. I can do now 8km comfortable but I am VERY SLOW. When I started my knees gave me a bit of a niggle, but I think it was the change of exercise. My two questions: 1) I want to run for 3 days in a row, but some advise that I got was that it will only hurt my knees and that I must skip a day. What is your opinions on this? 2) As I said - I am really slow. Must I just keep doing my (aiming for 10km) till I get faster in time? or Must I try to push myself to go faster? or Must and when do I start doing intervals (as that seems the thing to do to up you speed)?
  7. Thank you for the reply. I will definitely make use of your offer to made up bibs for us with the old padding. This is what I call good service! Thanks.
  8. As a lady I feel that the anatomic bibs WERE by far the best fit and padding, but recently you change the pink padding to a new red version. According to your office the red padding is only a reverse from the pink - I differ. The red is not so comfortable, much 'warmer' and it feels much more sweaty. It is really sorry as I (and my female cycling friends) will now have to find a new bib that will give us the same comfort as your previous range.
  9. Can you see what others predictions are?
  10. I think the problem here lies with society. People do not take responsibility for their own actions and tend to blame (sue) others. The decision of CTCT was to cover themselves because people nowadays cannot think for themselves and live with the consequences.
  11. I have never interacted or met Barry, but somehow are deeply touched by his death. After reading all the comments and remembrance of him it make me want to be a better person. RIP Barry
  12. I am looking for a GSP (German Short Haired Pointer) puppy - anybody here with these beautiful, loving dogs?
  13. It is the first time I want to bake something on LCHF .... is Flaxseed Powder the same as flaxseeds that I mill in my coffee grinder?
  14. I cannot drink bulletproof coffee at all, but HTone Fatshake is much more drinkable. Try that instead.
  15. After three weeks on LCHF - 4kg down - a better weekend on the bike - feeling great On this stage the most difficult for me is that this way of eating is a whole mind shift! It is totally the opposite of what I/the greater part of the population knew of nutrition. First: fat make fat - busy getting over that statement.... Second: you have to have breakfast, I tried bulletproof coffee and could not get it down, then I tried htone's fatshake with the salt I could not drink it but without it is actually drinkable but now there is no need for breakfast because this keep me full
  16. First week on LCHF done and dusted - lost 2.9kg - very exited. I am busy reading through the whole tread - but it is taking some time. Really a lot of information! So sorry if I repeat questions already asked. I feel good and except for the craving for diet soda - I adapted good. Regarding my training over the weekend, I felt flat - my legs were hurting and after a hour on Sunday afternoon I had this extreme hunger! Well I know you guys said it would take some time to adapt, and I know everyone is different - but how long before I will start feeling better on the bike? PS I decided to go full LCHF on the bike only water.
  17. Day 5 on LCHF..... I miss my diet sodas - a lot. I actually thought that the cravings would be for other things. Side effects? Every morning (about 10 o'clock) I have this nauseous feeling but at about 12 it is better. From previous experience I know that I do very good on a low carb diet, but I really struggle with the whole idea of high fat. Every time I eat something with fat my head goes into overdrive shouting - do not do it! Fat WILL make you FAT! But that is exactly what the world was brain spooling us for so long. Well lets see what the weekend holds and how training is going to go just with water.
  18. What do you drink on the LCHF? Tea, Coffee, water??? I do not drink any alcohol, but really like TAB and Coke Zero. Can I have any of that?
  19. @River Rat - Very well said!
  20. I went up to Jhb to CycleFit to do a setup - some of best money spend cycling wise.
  21. I also got mine yesterday - cannot wait for my fist ride!
  22. Before you buy the Merida have a look at my Cube 27.5" in the classifieds https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/72079-bargain-275%e2%80%9d-cube-carbon-ds-mtb/
  23. I could not achieve the same speed from the bike. I really hope it is the shocks and not the smaller wheelsize.
  24. Yesterday I got my new ride. I trade in my my Felt 29" Carbon Harttail for a new 27.5" Carbon Cube Softail. This morning I went for my first ride and I must say I was struggling a bit. But both shocks were a bit soft and hopefully that is the reason. I took it back to my LBS and will see tomorrow if the feel is better. But I must say the beauty of the bike will make up for the suffering.....
