  1. Isn't it ironic how bikes and components keep on evolving to make the ride better, faster and more enjoyable......yet attitudes stagnate, regardless of the threat of physical harm?
  2. Why does everybody always think that defence is linked to fighting....... If you have to fight you FAILED at the first steps........ Damm Hollywood :-( :-( :-(
  3. With the loss of combativeness I mean that there are rules. In combat there are no rules everything goes........ but as you know, one can not train like that......you will run out of partners LOL! I do agree that one should train in such away that you get from an art, what you would like to get. Some arts are also more focused on different aspects - Sport, Defence, tradition etc.
  4. That's difficult......... I like the depth (physical, mental fitness) of the art I am practising. I can see that it has started to reflect in my life........ It makes me a better person? Make no mistake ,after the years of training I am sure that I can defend myself (Avoid - run - attack in that order)
  5. LOL ....... and still struggling :-)
  6. That's why I have been one of them for 10 years.....
  7. LOL.....not trying to preach.... just giving my opinion :-) Hope it didn't come across the wrong way :-/
  8. Don't we get discount if we are part of the Tokai MTB club?
  9. Self defence - defending yourself..... 1) Stay out of doggy situations (scruffy bars, riding alone, boardrooms :-) 2) First reaction should always be to escape ....RUN or RIDE 3) Work with the attacker with the aim to escape not anger him 4) Only use force once you are certain it is required 5) Make it count and don't stop - Throat, eyes, balls.... don't stop until you have one of those 3 in your hands..... Traditional martial arts is good for a sport..... they have lost most of their combativeness due to them focusing more on the "do" - spiritual side (JuDO, AikiDO, KenDO, etc....) Still effective but you need lots and lots of training. Combative systems like Krav Maga, Systema etc.......that is the "new" form of self-defence.... quick and nasty with one purpose only to destroy your attacker. Also keep in mind that the "art" is only as good as the practioner..... much like the bike is only as good as the rider.....
  10. That's why you train for years...... up to 6 hours a week........ Do you think ANY professional could be proficient after a 2 hour lesson in anything?
  11. Have somebody said "Hub-it-to-death" yet?
  12. Removing participants' and spectators' passion for the sport - this can be done, and has been doen in many ways.........
  13. If it is on the stanctions it should not be a problem - might be the seals that is still bedding in? See if you can find your forks service manual on the interweb, and see how often it needs to be serviced. However - service your fork in the next 20h of riding!
  14. forgot to add......... once done get stickers from Tyrone!
  15. Try and repair it as follows (worth a shot): 1) Drill 1mm holes at the end of the cracks - this will prevent the crack from "growing" 2) Weld the crack closed - obviosly take it to somebody that can weld aluminium 3) See if you can get a piece of alumium that is the same as your bike (should be 6000 or 7000 series aluminium) and beef your frame up by welding it in to that small triangle between the upper, down and sea tubes. 4) Have your frame powdercoated afterwards - the baking of the frame - part of powdercoating - would allow for "aging" of the aluminium welds
  16. can be done - I have on a previos occasion beefed up a cracked frame, with another piece of 6000 series aluminium before.......
  17. As long as it is not a help-my-trap with a pertol engine....... THe irony is that they will propably be faster on the tracks and not a bottleneck! Next thread.............." MTBers hugging the routes of e-bikes!!!"
  18. they will be classified as "assisted / motorized" vehilces....... therefor not allowed on any tracks that don't allow motorbikes / quads / 4x4 etc. Otherwise, like with the drones (quad-copters), the goverment will be clueless and just ban it!!!!!!!!
  19. I like to take it wide, makes the exit a bit more easy........ Guess it doesn't really matter aslong as you don't "dabb"
