  1. As long there's traction on the climbs... that slippery, grainy fodder is the issue...
  2. Is jy mal??? Need to wax my legs, wax shiney gunmetal-grey bike and wax my chain! Never mind rest dem pistons before the big afkak...
  3. No! You telling me that my beloved Niner ROS9 is just as generic and idiot-overpriced as Cotic and all other 'Steel is Real' machines? NOOOOOO!!!!!!
  4. Bike Hub power couple Nick and Kylie murdering me up the Sivermine Loop! Nick can take some pretty sick pics...
  5. Atop Gydo Pass in the Witzenberg Valley. I'm fortunate enough to reside in Ceres for the year.
  6. My thoughts are that you're one hella lucky SOB! You, sir, are about to have the time of your life... Please do tell us more about the frame and build.
  7. Oh my... good golly... Stop me from touching myself in public!
  8. Decided on a ratio yet, Gorilla Man?
  9. Nee sies man. Gaan huistoe!
  10. I noticed a discrepancy between website and e-mail too. What I've taken from it is: 1. The route profile is from last year/previous years and is still the same (obviously) 2. Don't consider the water points on the profile graph. I'm taking the water points as stated in their most recent communication/e-mail. To me, it makes more sense as to where they're placing the new water points. Especially because in the "old" profile there were 5 water points and I think they're realised that this may have been redundant, thus removing the first WP at the top of the first climb (considering it's only 25km into the race on a tar road).
  11. I too will be attempting the GF with an Escapade
  12. No one trusts that Enterprise stuff anymore...
  13. May I point out how cleanly the show grounds were? Very little litter, damn I was impressed!
  14. Available in SA? I want one for the Escapade
  15. The truth is that the Escapade is correctly marketed at being a versatile road bike. So change out the knobblies for suitable slicks and you've still got a great-riding road bike. If your body fat isn't less than 10%, having a strict road bike won't make a difference...
  16. So, I need to thank some people accordingly: Matthew de Jongh from Cotic SA. (info@cotic.co.za) Matt was very patient and communicated brilliantly with me throughout my indecision. He helped me out with this older, 2015 model. I specifically wanted it for the sliding dropouts. Post-2015, Cotic ceased to make the Escapade with sliding dropouts. Matthew does Cotic, as a side-line passion, better than dealers do their business. He makes very little from his dealings. Matt also helped me out with an inexpensive headset and flared bars through his mate, Magnus. Bikehub legend, Myles Mayhew, for kindly donating a saddle and SPDs towards my student-budget build. Last and most certainly not least, fellow hubber Jewbacca. Have to have so much love for this dude - he stripped his own SS wheel to give me his Woodman SS hub. He then superbly built my wheelset, not asking for a thing in return. He also supplied me with a matchy matchy seat post. All in all, this build cost me R12 500. For something this exquisite, it feels like robbery! It took time, hunting for parts, but worth it.
  17. Behold...
  18. Ma se P that's nice!!
  19. Where is that? Lesotho? It's beautiful! The land and the bike... maybe you too
  20. That Harkerville trail is an exceptionally nice ride indeed. Can't believe is so cheap!
  21. Tokai charged me R80 two weeks ago, WITHOUT parking in the picnic area... Naaiers
  22. Obviously riding isn't enough of a priority to you...
  23. Why not 27,5? 26ers are dead man!
