  1. Available in SA? I want one for the Escapade
  2. The truth is that the Escapade is correctly marketed at being a versatile road bike. So change out the knobblies for suitable slicks and you've still got a great-riding road bike. If your body fat isn't less than 10%, having a strict road bike won't make a difference...
  3. So, I need to thank some people accordingly: Matthew de Jongh from Cotic SA. (info@cotic.co.za) Matt was very patient and communicated brilliantly with me throughout my indecision. He helped me out with this older, 2015 model. I specifically wanted it for the sliding dropouts. Post-2015, Cotic ceased to make the Escapade with sliding dropouts. Matthew does Cotic, as a side-line passion, better than dealers do their business. He makes very little from his dealings. Matt also helped me out with an inexpensive headset and flared bars through his mate, Magnus. Bikehub legend, Myles Mayhew, for kindly donating a saddle and SPDs towards my student-budget build. Last and most certainly not least, fellow hubber Jewbacca. Have to have so much love for this dude - he stripped his own SS wheel to give me his Woodman SS hub. He then superbly built my wheelset, not asking for a thing in return. He also supplied me with a matchy matchy seat post. All in all, this build cost me R12 500. For something this exquisite, it feels like robbery! It took time, hunting for parts, but worth it.
  4. Behold...
  5. Ma se P that's nice!!
  6. Where is that? Lesotho? It's beautiful! The land and the bike... maybe you too
  7. That Harkerville trail is an exceptionally nice ride indeed. Can't believe is so cheap!
  8. Tokai charged me R80 two weeks ago, WITHOUT parking in the picnic area... Naaiers
  9. Obviously riding isn't enough of a priority to you...
  10. Why not 27,5? 26ers are dead man!
  11. My beloved Niner ROS9. I call her My Harlot. 4130 ChroMoly steel 140mm RS YARI (highly underrated fork) FLOW MK3 rims on Hope Pro Evo 2's RS Reverb Stealth dropper SRAM 1x11 (XO1/GX) 14,5kg Heavy, but jirre... irrevocably in love!
  12. Love that it is SS!
  13. Hey Mr Jordaan I'm sorry if you feel as though I'm belittling your seriously impressive achievement. As hard as I may try, I doubt I could get a time close to yours on The Cobra (I'm being sincere here by the way). As with most threads on the Hub, my 2 cents of 'jealousy' was really intended as tongue-in-cheek. Perhaps you're struggling with a little 'insecurity'? Surely not, considering the formidable riding stats you're laying down (I'm not being facetious here). Could it possibly be some 'roid rage going on? Should your offensive outburst concern us, Mr Jordaan? Just dicking around dude. Go take some stimulants or something
  14. I thought these thingies are supposed to be holed up for the winter?!
  15. Does anybody else think that R3 500 is a bit steep for Friday evening to Sunday afternoon (meals and accommodation included)?
  16. Biggest case of FOMO of my life!!
  17. GROOTVADERSBOSCH CONSERVANCY!!! Flippen amazing riding!
  18. That mokorotlo dangling from his saddle is my favourite piece!
  19. How about the winner have >1000km in the last 4 months? Too many people spend more time on here talking about riding than are of actual use on a bicycle. The type of people who deserve prizes like this are those who spend their lives riding and other productive things like work and family, for example, and not boasting about their ineffective virtual bike-related skills. Yes, you could say I'm just bitter that I didn't win the sunnies!
  20. Something really bugs me here. If you're not a sponsored pro, who in their right mind cashes in 11k on a snazzy wheel set just because it "feels stiffer"? Don't tell me "because it's lighter and will make me faster", then you need to invest some time in actually learning to ride your bicycle - especially technical riding - rather than (futilely) throwing money at your slow issues.
  21. Can't test them on tyres as *** as the Saguaros.
  22. So Nico rides the new Pyga Stage at Sani2C just before the bike is officially released and now he's back on his trusted Momsen. I guess Pat wins either way
