  1. The only thing I see whatching that is just more unnecessary maintenance.
  2. To be fair to him, none of his main competition are there. His closest challenger is most likely Thomas who is unlikely to put time on him on any mountain stage. Maybe in the TT, but to be frank Pog will probably smoke him there as well. Let’s not kid ourselves here, barring any mechanicals or accidents, Pog should win this Giro by quite a substantial margin.
  3. I think yesterday he definitely held back a bit. He just made 1 attack and then seem to just nonchalantly cruise his way once he had 20 seconds. I definitely think he’s wary of the tour so obviously trying to expend as less energy as he possibly can. Hopefully that doesn’t come back to bite him.
  4. I’m trying to figure out what exactly is going on here.
  5. Just keep the diverge mate. Trust me on this.
  6. Can we just lob every hardtail to gravel drop bar conversion bike in this thread. Like every single one of them. Sorry to those who have done it and think it looks great.
  7. This happened to me with the Lourensford Classic as well. I just emailed Gerda and she sorted me out with an entry.
  8. Would you be able to fit a 650b wheel into any frame if you were looking to fit wider tyres? Let’s say for instance I purchase a frame with max clearance of 42mm but Im looking for a way around to go wider tyres.
  9. There’s a gorilla gravel option in Rwanda as well.
  10. Probably his best chance of beating him tbh. The other races are at much higher altitude which suits the American way better.
  11. Cyclelab are great with their discounts and integrating with mycyclelife i have saved quite a penny through them. I wouldn’t go there for any advice or take my bike for a service though. The new N1 City branch actually started off well but their service level has slowly declined to the norm.
  12. So this is not time based? If there are 20 riders in your age group, you essentially need to be top 5?
  13. I thought everyone gets a UCI medal. Are those only for podium finishers?
  14. Just get Tailwind and be done with it. Don’t upset your tummy at all and there is almost no taste so you don’t get that dry mouth sensation with all that sweetness like you you get with other products. You don’t even have to eat anything as well as long as you stick to the correct consumption per hour.
  15. So 11km at around 9% on gravel. Sounds fun.
  16. Does anyone have the stats for the last climb?
  17. I’d stick with the 42T and 10-50T. That lighter gear will be more beneficial i think than spinning out in small parts of the race.
  18. The website is down at the moment so i assume they busy updating. Lots of organisers dont post the route file till a few days before the event as a lot of the roads go through private farms and they obviously don’t want people riding them until the event.
  19. Both were low in elevation gain. The 50 miler was around 700m gain and the 100 miler i think around 1200. Both are very low in comparison to other gravel events.
  20. Those numbers dont seem correct. I did the route last year and there were no climbs, just small rollers. Compared to other races, RVR was by far the flattest in profile.
  21. If you’re gonna be doing any off road riding, then I wouldn’t use a bike with Shimano 105. Your chain will be bouncing all over the place.
  22. Low ballers are annoying but they’re allowed to offer what they want. Just reject the offer or ignore them. Pretty simple really.
  23. The climb was actually great. It was long but wasn’t steep at all and it spread the field out completely before the singletrack. Honestly was so awesome to ride singletrack without holding up someone or getting held up by someone. And I also liked the fact that all the singletrack was broken up nicely so if you did have someone behind you, there was more than enough chances to pull over and let them pass.
  24. What an amazing race! Probably the best race I’ve ever done. Absolutely breathtaking scenery, fantastic climbs and really great single track as well. I’m back for next years event most definitely.
  25. Any one know who are the Basso dealers or shops in South Africa?
