  1. I wish to purchase a tandem in the USA and ship it to SA. The bike shop seems at a loss and my online searches render quotes ranging from US$500 to 3000! Anyone done it?, and any advice on how to do it cost effectively? Price of tandem is $900, so would not like to pay a fortune to get it to SA
  2. Can the bearing in the bottom bracket of a Giant ebike motor be replaced? Anyone near Knysna or in PE?
  3. I hope you are just being funny. I log ebike rides on Strava twice a week - have been doing so for over a year. It gives me no segments unless if I register my own under ebikes. eBikes are here to stay, and most definitely welcome on all our trails in Knysna and surrounds. By the way, I also ride some of the trails on our tandem - double the weight of anything you talk about here - have yet to see any additional damage to the trails.
  4. You guys think that tyres make a difference? I was on Spez Ground Control (with over 4000km on the clock), and felt like slipping a lot - but I thought it was just the wet leaves?
  5. That 2km after Anatomic was very slippery with all the leaves. Guy behind me came down just as we exitted the tunnel, then about 500m on I slipped and fell (sore skin burns...), then just after that two more guys in front of me came down. I wander how many people fell in that section. Great ride though - was me second.
  6. It took some time - but here it is. Took it for a spin around Red Barn yesterday, and I could just manage - wrists took a beating. Something to get used to.
  7. Really considered this bike - took it for a full day spin as well, and enjoyed it. In the end, bought the Specialized Camber Comp Carbon, fitted carbon wheels and XT brakes and still has R10k change.
  8. Do I have to change the hub?
  9. I have an On-One 45650B with an SRAM X9 setup at the back - single 32T chainring up front. How can I convert this to a SS? What parts would I need?
  10. Looking forward to my first. Following the proposed training programme, and so far managed to keep to it.
  11. Just on the side - what is the view of the Race Organisers on the use of e-bikes? I suppose when competing for the podium it's a No. But what of the other start groups?
  12. Sent them a mail yesterday asking about last week's two missing workouts (Garmin). Got a mail back this morning, and everything is fine - sorted. Like them!
  13. My latest workouts show, but the three of last week's Sani are somehow still not showing.
  14. OK, so maybe I missed the point - if so, please help me. People complain that by Strava not being recognised anymore, they cannot earn points to "pay off" their Apple Watches. But by just using your Apple Watch, you can earn all the points you need! - automatically ... Strava does allow for self- registry by using +, thus it allows unverified data - period. People use that function to cheat, so blame them, not Discovery. I happen to have a Garmin device as well, but once its battery was flat, and I still received my ride's points because of the Apple watch. Also, I do a lot of indoor training (running and cycling), and get all my points with my Apple watch. And by the way, I am a Strava premium member - but use that only for bragging rights If you're serious about training, you need to work at least with your HR, and that is what Discovery promotes. I like their initiatives!
  15. I find MapMyFitness app the easiest to link various devices to Vitality for Points Claimimg purposes
  16. Got the same under my roof - excellent bike. What's with the XT and X9 - better than the GX?
  17. R6100 from NavWorld
  18. Been waiting for this - now to read the manual (I'm one of those...), and test it over the weekend
  19. What with this weather - could only take the On One on its maiden ride today - but here it is - love the ride, but then I'm biased...
  20. Ready for its maiden voyage tomorrow - still needs some tweaks, cable n stem shortening etc, but I love it!
  21. The beginnings of a love affair....
  22. By whichever name - the bike hub is a great initiative and truly contributes to me cycling experience! Thanks so much..... and now to the next 11 years!
  23. Best investment I've made! I do my own interval workouts (as prescribed by my Couch), and on cold/wet days I ride the vitual routes - dis Argus and 94,7 so far. It really motivates me to improve. Over the past two months my Power/Weight has improved from 2,2 to 3,0 (granted, I do leg-gym also once a week). Trainer is inside - so no cold winds down my neck after a workout - straight into the shower. NO wear-and-tear on the bike - virtually no noice either. FTP calculation is a challenge, but on my last ride (94,7) I improved on it during the ride - system only informed me afterwards of my "achievement". Best to me is my wife is now also interested and excited about it - and as we do a lot of tandem riding, that is great! Weekends I still play outside - unless if it rains like last Saturday.
  24. Got the Edge 25 for my wife - R2995, including HRM. I'm playing with it at the moment though. Waiting for my 520
