  1. If you turn this thread on its head, Road riding makes you a stronger MTB rider, and it provides a great base for MTB riding. My honest opinion is that any form of riding if done properly will never hurt you as a cyclist.
  2. The Lab does it and it is R200
  3. Sweet, I am considering getting mine from CRC as I have friends coming from the uk This is the link http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=55376 Do you think they will still help me out with the custom fit if I buy from CRC?
  4. I am looking at getting a pair of top end MTB shoes from Shimano. They have custom fit technology and I would hate too buy them and then no one in JHB can actually do the custom fit. Does any one know where I can have it done and how much it costs?

I also find the Spez to be too narrow, but I see that they also do a wide version. I am not opposed to ordering online but would want to fit them here first to make 100% sure they fit. I am in Italy in June so perhaps I can get a pair of Sidi's there?

  8. I am in the market for a new pair of MTB shoes, I currently wear Shimano simply because the Spez and Sidi shoes are too narrow for my feet. Does anyone know if either Spez or Sidi make a shoes for wider feet? has anyone had their Shimano shoes custom fit? If so who can do this and does it make a big difference. Anyone with and experince with Mavic shoes?
  9. Depends on the tire, for example the Rocket rons have very thin and pourose side walls so I need to use OKO to start then swithed to Slime pro, this sealed the holes and then the slime pro was the top up. With Kenda you must be very careful of Stans or Joes the amonia causes delamination. I have been using slime pro for a while now and have had no issues, it is cheap and it works well.
  10. I ride tubless rims with non UST tires and have done so with many different brands of RIMS and TIRES some examples DT Swiss XR4.2d with non UST Rocket rons= No problems DT swiss 420sl with Spez the captin non UST= No problems Bontrager Rythem Elite with Bontrager XDX non UST= No problems ZTR Crest with Conti race king non ust and Bontrager XDX non UST= No problems I have also run Monorail UST on the Rythem elite and DT swiss Xr4.2d and also No problems Only thing I will say is that mounting a non UST to a rim is much easier, so If I do get a sidewall issue I can install the tire boot and remount the tire with ease and not sit and wrestle the tire while on the trail. I also carry tubless plugs just in case but I am yet to have to use either.

  16. What time ? From where? How far? How fast?
  17. On average how many people attend these rides? Thursday is a bit difficult for me, is there or has there ever been any talk of doing a ride on another night?
  18. Sweet, let me know when.
  19. Rouxtjie Next time you do this route please let me know, I am keen to check it out. Cheers
  20. Splat- I rode these wheels this weekend and put a few 100k's on them and they are really great. 1. They are far stiffer than the Easton EA90SLX's I had before 2. They are as smooth as can be and roll effortlessly 3. They soften the road buzz allot Best wheels below R7000 for sure.
  21. I got a damage report and a replacement quote, they then got a replacement quote from thier supplier. My quote was less so they paid me out less my excess. really simple and easy process.
  22. New wheels delivered. I cannot belive how good the service from OUTSURANCE and CWC is: 1. Wheels damaged on Saturday morning 2. Claim lodged with Outsurance Monday morning 3. Claim approved Tuesday afternoon 4. Ordered the Shimano's from CWC Tuesday afternoon 5. Wheels delivered Thursday at 11am 6. Ready to ride Saturday It is an absoloute pleasure dealing with outsurance and CWC, Thanks
  23. If it is the Reitvlei I know in the south then not such an easy ride, there is some tough single track there, the beginners loop might be okay but it is only 4 or 5km
  24. 1st thanks to all for thier advice. I purchased the Shimano's- they are the best value when one looks at weight vs cost etc etc. 2nd A HUGE THANKS TO OUTSURANCE NO ISSUES SUBMITTED MY CLAIM YESTERDAY AND TODAY THEY CALLED TO SAY IT WAS ALL DONE AND THE MONEY WOULD BE PAID TO ME Now it is up to CWC to get me the wheels ASAP.
