  1. Ask your doc about Paroven( if he knows) You can't get it over the counter.
  2. No, cycling will not aggrivate it but will make the symptoms worse esp. if it is external hems. There is a new product on the market for hemorrhoids(launched in Nov?) that promise to treat them completly, but the cause must first be treated, otherwize they'll just pop out again. I'm not sure whether I should mention the name here or not?
  3. (had to restart internet expl. twice to uploud this emoticon)
  4. Just stay FAAAAAAARRRRRRR away from this Siemens/Fujitsu crap!!! It is useless, really!! As I tiped this I had to restart it twice, did the Ctrl-Alt-Del move 3 times, smacked it once and waited for ever for anything to happen!
  5. Tendonitis is an over-use injury, sorry to say! The longterm effects of training/icing is just no full recovery, which can lead to a more chronic problem/later even bad arhritis. The long term effects of the chronic use of anti-inlamatories/NSIADs esp when training hard can be really dangerous( may cause renal impiarment, peptic ulcer etc.) Let me explain: Due to over use the tendon gets"irritated" and inflamed. This leeds to swelling of the tendon which in turn leeds to the discomfort and pain. Icing/anti-inflamatories helps to decrease the amount of inflamation and swelling of the tendon(BUT only temporary.......). Then you exercise again and the whole circle starts again! I am very sorry but the onlu real treatment is rest and rehabilitation. Feel for you....All of the best
  6. Why is all the "faster" riders stuck behind the slow riders????? Shouldn't they be upfront?
  7. I just send a mtb frame to Durbs. Cost R480 So I gues CT will add ?R200-R300?. This was with Speedservices counter to counter Box I think was 1100mmx220mmx450mm or there about!
  8. This thread reminds me(also a mtb'er) about the Lost City road race. I went hard and started to suffer on the last 5kms, needless to say I lost my bunch. Luckly a young man doing the shorter 70km race(obviously also a mtb'er doing the short road race for fun) came past looking very strong still, so I sat on his wheel for that last 4k's. As we crossed the finish line I shouted:"Hey, thanks for dragging me across the line man!" But the poor dude had a very confused face on him and just said: " Yis, I am sorry hoor!" I tried to explain but he was gone!
  9. Just to the nearest comper, go to thehubsa.co.za and P.. all over it, it seems??
  10. And now for a snippet from google: "The original ramp is a metal structure with a 20-degree slope that is used to measure a vehicle's ability to conform to the terrain. Suspension travel and chassis flex are two important qualities needed to traverse uneven' date=' rutted terrain, and the ramp is a fair, controllable, and repeatable way to measure them. There's no room for driver error or luck to influence the outcome; a number achieved on the ramp is directly comparable between different vehicles, any day, anywhere in the world. Ramp Travel Index is an accurate way of telling how far up the 20-degree ramp a vehicle can go, while still keeping all four tyres in contact with the surface. To some extent, mathematical manipulations are necessary; it would be unfair to ask a short-wheelbase vehicle to crawl as far up the ramp as one with a long wheelbase. Therefore, whatever number of inches a vehicle can muster before it runs out of suspension travel (and chassis flex) is divided by its wheelbase. (This way, a 130 can indeed compete with a 90 We multiply that number by 1,000 to get kind of a workable value. For example, if a 110-inch-wheelbase vehicle goes 52 inches up the ramp, its RTI number would be 472 ([52 ? 110'] x 1,000). Obviously, a higher RTI number translates into better conformability to the terrain. A perfect score would be 1,000, indicating that the vehicle can go as far up the ramp as its wheelbase is long without lifting a tyre. No standard vehicle has reached 1000 but Range Rovers come close. A few modified machines have indeed reached the perfect score and beyond." Thus RTI= Off road capabilitiesand so: RTI of Range Rover 703 RTI of Land Cruiser 590 RTI of Hilux 395 There is just no way to argue with stats, is there?
  11. LOL!
  12. Are you sure you can handle it?? Do you know all about Ramp Travel Index, Breakover angle, Clearance, articulation, progresive suspension technology, ect, ect....? All things(info) needed to appreciate what I am about to reveal................................................................................ ........................................................it is a(see drum roll here)................................................................................. 1990 RANGE ROVER VOGUEse The best 4x4 ever built!
  13. Ok, I drive a Fortuner and a REAL 4x4(not any mentioned in this thread, these are all wanna-be 4x4's) The Fortuner is one lovely car(note: car not 4x4 or suv or whatever). My wife has to tow her 17 hands, 700kg Hannovarian mare all over the show and there is no car better to do this than the Fortuner. I have the 4l v6 and that thing is as strong as a few oxen! We do not want a bakkie since she doesn't want all her tack( wich cost more than most bikes on the hub) to gather dust on the back and that is why we opted for the Fortuner. All said, I can not deny that it's handling on- and off-road is absoluetly crap when you drive like hell, even with different tyres and all! So if you think you are a Button and want to drive like a jerk it will toss you, but if you drive it decently it will serve you well! As for my real 4x4, this thread is not even worthy enough to mention it's name here!
  14. No love lost Agteros and Gasping!(p.s. I wasn't trying to be condecending and yes, you can't be my "ou", I've got a "vrou".) It is our ability to differ that makes life so interisting, isn't it? Hopefully we have now given NoCalves enough food for thought for him to make the right decision for himself. Now for the next topic we can differ on(or maybe even agree on!)
  15. Look ou agteros and gasping, I never said clubs don't have a place. Sure, if you do not have anybody to ride with it is a wonderfull way to meet new people, get help see new trails etc, etc. But in my case, I work from 7:00am to 16:00 so the 6:00 weekday rides is useless. Over the weekends I have allot of cycling buddies that I would rather join than a club ride! And yes you all would be terrible hypocrites( and that is the correct spelling) if you say that in todays day and age you do not expect some kind of value for money paid!! I remember clearly that both of you where very vocal about value for money in a post not very long ago! To cap: Yes, if you have the need to meet new poeple, help out and put allot of energy into a club, GO FOR IT! If not, it is not worth it.
  16. I would say none! I've been a member at two different clubs and must say that they offer you nothing but a Ride subscription. I ride with the friends, so don't join club rides, I don't believe in advertising for them by wearing their clothes(it is dorky in any case) The 5% discount( or whatever) is not worth it? So I see no need for it.
  17. I know I will be hacked into pieces for this but go the CRC route. Like mentioned the whole setup will work out to R4000. Then add tax and you will have R1500 to spare. Wheels localy is just to expensive My wheels: Dt Swiss xr4.2d(white) Dt Swiss rev spokes Dt Swiss brass nipples Hope II blue hubs From CRC: R3280 The best local quote was R6790
  18. Firstly, Merida is a decent brand and comes out of the same factory as Spez. I am not fammiliear with the Manitou but if you can adjust the travel(compression) it shouldn't be a prob. I can also get you a contact to get a 2010 Merida 96 3000d? I think for R20 000( that is about R6000) cheaper than in most stores. Xt and Elixir 5 is on par if I am not mistaken. Just take the better specced bike.
  19. You are correct. Maybe we all should lose our dinosour mentality and evolve. Right, moving on now, Ray I hope you have all the info you need on that most wonderfull bike they call Zula!
  20. That is what you call a lingual spanking!!
