  1. Yeah containing the debris is the ideal. You'd think if you were moving forward at any speed, that would help spit everything out the back too, but I guess with the energy involved it gets complicated.
  2. Saw this yesterday. I believe part of one of the destroyed engines went in one side of the fuselage and out the other!
  3. My boys used to jump on me too. Fine when you knew it was coming but not when you were having a mid-afternoon snooze! Rather than a swan dive mine used to jump up, tuck their knees into their chests and cannon-ball me!'' Ooooof. Of course now that my youngest lad is grown up and has a daughter of his own, I felt it my duty to teach her how to cannon-ball her dad ;-)
  4. Does anyone elses neck make a funny clicking/grinding sound that goes right through you when you turn your head left and right a few times? I think my bearings are worn . . . .
  5. Did you know that the Captain made a full recovery but the first officer was scarred for life....Because the Captain remembers nothing about it!
  6. I love jets, and when the Tornado swings its wings back and gives it the full beans it's something to see and hear.
  7. This was a walk, not a ride - but I'll ride it soon for sure! Up to the ruins of Samitier Castle..... I've put a full set of pics from the walk on our "Big Adventure" thread :-)
  8. Some new XC Trail to add to my collection . . . .
  9. The views from the top are stunning and it's not a difficult place to get to. I'd recommend it to visitors. Edit: In the first photo you can just see the tower of the church in the middle of the dam. The village of Mediano was lost when they flooded the valley. In dry season you can walk out to that church, in wet season only the top 2 meters of the tower are showing!
  10. On Tuesday we did a little walk with our good friends up to the "Samitier Castle" - a castle ruin perched on the edge of a rather long drop!
  11. Well we only have your word for it . . . . . . ;-)
  12. haha yeah - a bit ;-) Of course it really depends what exactly everyone wants to see/do on a trip here and what time of year you plan on coming. As you say, for the moment Covid (even if you had the cash) is the limiting factor. We have some excellent road riding around here. The roads are in good condition and there's very little traffic. We are in the foothills of the Pyrenees though - so you get some amazing riding but not a lot of the flat easy stuff..... If you start thinking about it seriously I'll advise as best I can. Feel free to drop me a message any time.
  13. MTB Guiding. We're in the Spanish Pyrenees in the middle of the Zona Zero trail network. I have a thread on that too! https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/163751-the-pyrenees-road-mtb-enduro-riding-trail-building-iconic-gt-climbs-nearby-attractions/
  14. Ha - I wish! We have everything in place to build, but the banks, despite saying initially that they could, can't help us with finance. We've started looking into private financing / private investors but it's not easy at the best of times and of course this year it's been even more tricky than ever. We have a thread on here about it: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/182710-bonus-wendys-monday-evening-private-investment-thread/ We're optimistic that we'll come right, and meanwhile we're keeping ourselves busy. We're working when possible, riding, walking and generally enjoying life and doing what we can "for free" on the project (gardens etc). Let's see what the future brings . . . . .
  15. A sunny afternoon riding through the Castle grounds up in Ainsa Old Town. Normally there would have been loads of people enjoying the day :-( #Covid19 #2020
  16. There was heavy rain up in the mountains for 24 hours..... It's difficult to imagine this is one of our swimming spots in the Summer time! Thankfully the sun came back today and normal service was resumed :-)
  17. I know the feeling..... ;-)
  18. We've just started season 3 of True Detective. Season 2 was good - we enjoyed it and this one looks good too. I didn't watch the first season - "Wendy" watched it on her own, I didn't get past the second episode. Just too slow.
  19. Yesterday I did part of Zona Zero Route 15 (ZZ-015) which is five minutes down the road from Boltaña town. A 40 minute climb on a really nice gravel track followed by a 12 minute descent on a combination of farm trail / jeep track / goodness knows what. The trail goes up to the village of Silves, which actually consists of two parts - the upper and the lower village (Silves Alto and Silves Bajo). The village is semi-inhabited. The houses will all have been "in the family" for ever and I'm not certain but I believe that the houses that are occupied are actually holiday places and the families actuall live elsewhere. The village sits at about 900m and the views are, as usual, stunning. It's surprising how quickly you find youself way up above the road you were just on!
