  1. Back to the car, a 20 min drive an we're at point #two - an hour ahead of the riders who going "the long way...." We were at the Sprint point. It wasn't very busy, sun was still shining, people are freindly....
  2. What a nice day it's been :-) It was so close that we didn't have to rush to get there, plenty of parking, sunny day, nice chilled-out cup of "Cafe con Leche" on the pavement and then strolled along to where we wanted to watch. For half an hour before the riders get to you, team cars, official cars and high speed motorbikes go past. Then you hear the helicopters and you can judge where the bikes are on the road. Suddenly it's sirens and lights, and a small group of riders comes around the corner and powers past. Then silence....... more sirens and the Peloton is on you in a rush. Shouting, picking out the odd rider (much harder in real life than it is from the armchair), yelling at Chris . . . then team cars and silence again. Finally the last group comes through, the guys who have been back to talk to their Directors in the team cars or the guys that are having a bad day . . . . Then it's over and a quick walk to the car to get to the second view point!
  3. 3 man break miles ahead of the bunch......
  4. Police motorbikes coming through the sprint point at a fat speed! Closed roads and blue flashing lights - go for it!
  5. Now we're at the intermediate Sprint point just outside Fiscal - we took a cut through road - waiting for them again. Hoping to pick out Dan Martin! We're so happy to be having this on our doorstep.
  6. Yeah. We were at about 100km out of 184km. The break went past, then the bunch - looked like Froome was near the back - then a little while later the back group.
  7. The Peloton are 10km away. We'll hear the helicopters any moment now :-) We're just on the road leading out of Ainsa and the first team cars are passing now....
  8. We're in Ainsa having a coffee and you really wouldn't know that a Grand Tour is about to pass through here other than there being more police than normal.....
  9. Average speed for the first 50 mins of racing is 47km/h . . . .
  10. Just catching up with the latest news and I see that La Vuelta will not be crossing the border into France tomorrow. . . . . so the Col du Tourmalet is out of the picture. https://www.lavuelta.es/en/news/2020/la-vuelta-20-wont-enter-france-stage-6-to-start-from-biescas-and-finish-atop-aramon-formigal/22477 The new route for Stage 6 has been released and it is almost an exact copy of Stage 15 from 2016 - except that they start in Biescas then head down to Sabiñanigo (last time they started in Sabiñanigo) and do a loop through Fiscal, Broto, Biescas and finish up with the climb to Formigal. Can't have been easy wanting to close down towns at short notice - some of these roads/towns will now be closed two days running - but at least the road condition will be good because they are re-riding some of todays route. It's perfect for us because we can now see tomorrows Stage 6 really easily. I am as happy as a sandboy! :-)
  11. I'm happy to say that after a couple of rainy days, we have clear blue skies from horizon to horizon at the moment! If it lasts all day then later on you will get to see Ainsa and the surrounding areas in all their Autumn beauty :-) Fingers crossed that it lasts . . . . . Now I must go dig out my flag :-)
  12. Also not a fan, but I do like this one....
  13. Red Number gives you wings!
  14. That last 100m looked tough
  15. Dan Martin!
  16. He was setting the pace for a while there :-) Edit: clearly a team tactic
  17. Froome at the front!
  18. similar - apart from the thieving bit I hope!
  19. Ineos leading the Peloton with 16 km to go.
  20. "Caja Rural" are a bank here in Spain. Caja means "box or container" generally, in this case it means "cash box" and "rural" (same spelling and meaning as in English) signifies that their original customer base were farmers and people living in remote or rural areas.
  21. Done. Cheers for the link!
  22. New break off the front . . . .
  23. Willie did well there for a while. Good to see!
  24. True. This isn't really Mustang country . . . :-)
  25. The Cols are spectacular, but it can be hard getting there and away again afterwards during a race :-)
