  1. a 36T, maximum 38T just by looking at a pic of the bike. The lower chainstay and its "outward bow" is the limiting factor. A 0 offset chainring might allow you sneak a couple of extra teeth in there but will sacrifice a straight chain line to the cassette. increasing wear and reducing shifting performance. Best bet would be to take it to your LBS and have them test fit some different sizes. Not many would keep a blade of that size in stock though.
  2. in true Shimano fashion
  3. BR = Brake MT = Mountain RD = Road The brakes in question would be BR-MT200 Shimano is bulletproof, cant go wrong
  4. +1 for Torque Zone Academy. Graeme is a brilliant teacher and would highly recommend everyone see him, even if its just the basics
  5. As you have a long cage rear derailleur, you could use one of these: https://bike-addict.co.za/collections/cassettes/products/sunrace-ms2s-10-speed-11-40-cassette You WILL need a new chain at minimum. If your front chainring blades are starting to resemble shark fins, those need replacing too.
  6. If you win by an inch, a mile or because the favorites crashes, its still a win.
  7. Are the original spokes still in the wheel? If so, pull one out of from the cassette side and one out from the opposite side. they are the only 2 lengths used in wheels. Long and Short spoke. If not, you can try either the Sapim or DT Swiss spoke calculator. You will need specific measurements such as hub flange size and distance between flange and center of hub.
  8. This is exactly why I dont participate in Marathon MTB events anymore. People who are fit get seeded higher but the second there is a rock in the trail, the train of riders comes to a grinding halt. Seeding should be a mix of fitness and skill ability, but hey, Dream world I guess
  9. You need a Marketing medal, im absolutely howling! 😂
  10. Im a biiiig Spank fan, had their Oozy hoops on my Cotic. I gave those things so much abuse and they kept asking for more
  11. Mine is on order in a Medium, Im not too concerned about weight of the bike. I carry enough extra weight around my mid section to be able to justify having a light Trail bike. If it comes in under around 16kg without pedals, I would be happy with that. Much like an E-Bike, some extra weight in the right places can make a bike very, very confidence inspiring.
  12. Hot Take... You might be seeded in A batch...doesn't always mean you have the skills to keep up 😆
  13. Big need for this bike! Cannot wait to get my hands on one!!
  14. Not sure what issues you are facing here, do you find you are sitting with too much weight over the front end of the bike? If so, check your fork sag is correct (20mm sag). If sag is correct and you still find yourself too far over the front wheel. If fork sag is correct, you could try the same length stem with a higher degree of rise.
  15. oooh, that would be awesome with a 27.5+ wheelset
  16. Could be, for all we know its like Motorex or Maxxis. Split amongst a few different distros in different markets
  17. We used to electrical tape them to the lower of the fork, right above where the QR lever would be. The rattling got annoying with the little adapter
  18. Thanks for confirming, You never know these days, Distros in SA change like a toddlers nappies
  19. Maybe try Luxottica, they were the last Distributor for Oakley in the country.
  20. Seems the only brands offering a Crash Replacement on Road wheels are: Bontrager (Trek) Reserve Wheels (Santa Cruz) Concept Speed (Private Label) Roval (Specialized) - 2 Years with original owner
  21. 40mm wheels are a good middle ground. Going deeper for a lighter rider can be a menace in crosswinds. Do you do lots of climbing? If so, shallower is better. Ceramic bearings are great if you take the time to keep them maintained but can become eye watering when you get the bill for replacements. There are lots of great wheel brands out there, because of how poor our road conditions are, I would consider a brand that offers a "Crash Replacement" or discount if you smash a rim.
  22. Sounds to me like either the mounting cups or the Towball itself is worn down a bit. Is the rack well used? Brand new?
  23. Generally, the max weight limit on any towball rack is around 65kg of vertical weight. If transporting multiple E-Bikes, it is recommended you remove the battery for transport. This helps prevent the pendulum effect that a bouncing bike on a rack can cause.
  24. Mandatory Interval session around that section of the Dam😆
  25. I see a common denominator in this thread.....Roadies! Get a Mountain Bike and you will become immune to these issues 😆
