  1. Too much is too much. Slow cooked with just enough smoke and the right rub is lekker. Too much and it is overpowering. In my opinion the trick is to only smoke occasionally and to not repeat too often with the same guests
  2. Good in theory, but I already have boxes of bits and pieces. Pumps, tools, lights etc and don’t need any more
  3. Thanks. I used to use that method and then I bought a Slow n Sear https://www.tbbq.co.uk/shop/slow-n-sear-1-0/ which works incredibly well, gives great control and has a water barrier to assist smoking and to reduce the direct heat to the meat. Both ways work, the slow n seat just works like a beast for me.
  4. A couple of recent braais . Been experimenting with smoking. Low and slow. Cooking time has been between 4.5 and 8 hours.
  5. China - I know your contribution has been massive. Been a fan of your pics for years on this platform and others. I suppose my query is more around using the platform to discourage, indirectly (and I'm sure without intent), people from taking the Plus option, whereas those of us who are pro the idea are possibly encouraging people (also probably without intent) to take the option. It just sort of feels wrong to discourage people from financially supporting the platform that you are using to do so. Having said that, we got notice three days ago that our business will be back up and running from Monday (govt agreed to give us three weeks notice originally), so this week has been mental and I may not be thinking overly logically at the moment.
  6. I’m with Swiss on this (never thought I’d say that [emoji23]). Apart from family, bikehub is my main connection with SA. It is the one constant source of views, entertainment and knowledge that keeps me feeling like I am still a small part of cycling in SA. I also feel like it has provided a platform for lots of good causes to be supported. I, like most of us, am fortunate that I am able to sell my time in exchange for a salary that allows me to pay my bills and support my family. I don’t understand why people don’t want to pay for a service that they find value in, be it movies on tv, a garden service, online newspapers or the hub. However, if they choose not to, why try and denigrate the service whilst still using it?
  7. Why do you keep returning to this? You are choosing not to pay, that’s cool.
  8. I used a debit card
  9. Post of the week. Nice one
  10. Mature they are trying to make constant improvement to keep up with the times
  11. I’m happy to pay it just to support you guys. Hope that it works out
  12. Great day out on the bike today. Legs were tired after a few rides already this week, but I smashed my time up a hill that has hurt me for years. Took almost a minute off a 5 minute previous best.
  13. Was out on the weekend with my boy. His first ride this year. I’ve done around 2000 k this year. Little bugger disappeared off up the long hills as if he does it every day.
  14. Nope. Not at this stage. I try not to be a dick though so stick to quieter roads and take it slow generally.
  15. Did a 100k in the hills today. Hot and sunny. Forgot sunblock so suffering a bit now.
  16. Took a few hours out today to explore a whole bunch of new trails that have sprung up in the woods near us.
  17. Nice ride out for some hills on the road bike in Saturday, then a few hours exploring some trails on Sunday on the MTB. Incredible how not having to deal with the peripherals (kids sports, horses, commuting etc) frees the mind up to enjoy cycling a bit more without feeling rushed. Counting my blessings every minute at the moment.
  18. 100% endorse this.
  19. Had a weird ride yesterday. Switched my garmin to a screen with only speed and then just enjoyed exploring trails for a couple of hours. No stressing about Hr, power, ave speed or anything, just focusing on the sun shine and the joy and privilege of being out on my bike.
  20. Nice day to light the braai and be outside
  21. Quick spin in the sun yesterday. Haven’t been out since the shutdown, but decided, as we are still allowed, to get out for an hour. Was brilliant.
  22. Flint
  23. Thanks guys. Vets let me in so I was able to hold him. Heartbroken but he’s in a better place
