  1. **** mate, sorry to hear that
  2. I’d tell him where to put his bike. That’s not how you behave.

I’ve been a couple of times to visit factories that manufacture fitness equipment. I’ve walked the production lines of factories manufacturing world class equipment as well as factories making junk, sometimes different lines in the same factory. It’s all about what sells and who they are manufacturing for.

Actually, typed a response then deleted it. Life’s too short.

Last time I had a screen replaced at an authorised service centre in SA, the cost was R150 excess on the insurance. My last screen replacement here on a XR cost me £25 as I paid for Insurance when I bought the phone. Similar to buying a premium bicycle and insuring against accidental damage, in order to ensure that you don’t have to replace premium components with cheap components (came from the same factory boss, I promise you) that work on the face of it, but compromise the overall quality of the bike, why wouldn’t you insure a premium phone for the same reason?

Nope, I’ve said that my experience in actually dealing with these companies, rather than watching a video or two on YouTube, is very different. If you choose to imply that I am lying, then that is up to you. I am unable to be more specific or to give examples, but can assure you that I have yet to meet someone external who would agree with that video that you shared.

[emoji23]- first time somebody ever asked for a dick pic from me. Sorry about the open ended statement. I work for Apple and have experience of dealing with many service partners and can assure you that that’s not indicative of the relationship with most of them.

With the volume of products that apple sells, there is no physical way that they can maintain them using only their own physical stores/repair centres. They also have a vested interest in maintaining the level of quality of repair that customers expect from a premium brand. Similar to taking my Volvo to a Volvo Garage and insisting on genuine Volvo parts, not “a part that came from the same factory but is not branded so costs less”. As a result, it is very much in Apple’s interest that repairs are done in a way that ensures that quality is maintained and that customer experience is consistent. As far as the “evil” allegation goes, you may be surprised if you dig a bit further than a random YouTube video or two.

Thanks bud, but my sources are a bit better than yours I suspect.
  11. Lovely organic ribeye last night. Hard to beat

Apple is also investing huge amounts in supporting independent small and medium businesses to become authorised service centres and has done for a long time.

That’s a great jump. The 11 is stunning. PS. I get a few discounts per year on iPhones (and other Apple products) in the U.K. and (I think) Ireland. If someone needs one, PM me and I’ll see if I have any discounts left at the time.
  15. That’s sort of what I’ve been doing with krugerrands. I have this idea of handing them out to grandkids on significant birthdays etc at some time in the future. However, I have seriously been considering buying more as an investment to hedge against brexit in some way.
  16. Looks incredible
  17. That’s about the average here at the moment. Basically going backwards. Sold a bunch of USD shares to buy a house. House purchase fell through due to issues with the property, so was left with cash. My wife wouldn’t let me buy a 1kg bar of gold to keep in the sock draw, so stuck with cash.
  18. A good butcher is worth their weight in gold. Luckily my butcher knows never to put the receipt in the shopping bag
  19. Last night was T-bone night. Hard to beat.
  20. Some of the ETF’s I’ve found are showing a 17% ave growth over the past few years. As a comparison, I am currently getting 0.7% on a 45 day notice account. That’s quite startling
  21. Many thanks. I’ll have a look and see what Dollar ETF’s I can find
  22. CGT here is not applicable if you have Royal Mint manufactured gold or silver coins. Something to do with them being legal tender.
  23. Thanks for the response. What are your thoughts about physical gold and silver? Are etf’s basically the same, but you don’t have to hide them [emoji23]?
  24. I couldn't find any topics on investing in physical precious metals, but keen to get the benefit of the knowledge base on the Hub. I have started buying Gold and Silver Krugerrands over the past few months. Not in any huge volumes, but trying to decide whether to take savings and buy more, either coins or bars, to try and mitigate against any possible massive fluctuations in the pound around Brexit. At this stage I keep them at home, but if I had any more volume, I would pay for secure storage. Wondered what you guys think.
