  1. So, after a long and expensive fight, I have to take our boy to be put down this morning after a visit to the vets yesterday. Spent the night on the couch with him, lots of tears, especially from my wife, for whom he has been a constant companion for ten years. Worst of it is that the vets are in lockdown, so they won’t let me in the door and will take him from me outside. At least he knows everyone at the practice and is loved there (he’s that kind of dog) so won’t be scared going in. Heartbroken.
  2. Presume they’ve bought parts, perhaps prepaid accommodation, maybe taken On extra staff for the event. I would imagine that cash flow is what’s stopping the refund, not unwillingness
  3. To be fair, it looks like a joke
  4. No real choice in light of all of the other cancellations. Prudent thing to do
  5. Take it easy there lad. Great to hear that there is some small level of normalcy for you at the moment.
  6. I bought the kickr desk unopened off a guy on gumtree for 60% of the new price. It’s brilliant, but not worth full price
  7. Lots of Zwifters seem to be indoor only cyclists, so maybe this would apply for them. I can't justify £1000 for something like this, so will just keep on without it.
  8. Me too, but he isn’t in pain, so happy to buy some time. Apparently the transfusion should give him some energy back by increasing his red blood cell count and he can then come home, although he will still be very sick. Lab has worked out that his body is producing red blood cells, but that they are being killed by his immune system, so they are working to try and understand why? Hoping for a good result but have agreed that we owe it to him to do what we can as long as he is not in pain.
  9. Thanks lad, first blood transfusion (at £700 per bag) tomorrow, which should give them a bit more time to identify what’s causing his low red blood cell count. Poor boy is part of our family.
  10. Our wee dog is in pretty bad shape at the moment. Low red and white blood cell count and weak as anything. Vets have tried everything to diagnose and we now await results of a blood marrow test. Considering a blood transfusion at the moment but just spending as much time with him as we can.
  11. Ha - been beating myself up about how weak I am since I started seeing power on the kickr. Now I can see in real life as well. Oh well [emoji17]
  12. That is stunning - Congratulations
  13. Just arrived in the post. Scary amount of money for something so small.
  14. Be careful of thinking that they are the same quality because of this
  15. I was looking at one yesterday in a bike shop. You are 100% right. It is a stumpy and it is beautiful
  16. Following this thread closely, as I gashed my rear wheel (cross mark 2) on Sunday and trying to decide what to replace it with as a big dude with a lot of hills to ride over the next few months.
  17. I’m a huge fan of Lance now because I like his approach to life now, not because if what he did in the past though, then he was a prick. He tested clean because he a) played the testers b) UCI didn’t want to catch him and c) the tests Werner as good then as they are now. That doesn’t mean he was somehow playing within the rules. It means he was a ******* cheating ****
  18. Stay strong China. In our thoughts every day.
  19. Interesting- I’ve insured a lot of cars in the uk and don’t remember ever being asked what colour the car was. Maybe it is linked to the licence plate or something
  20. Your job is to get better my friend. Humiliation is not something that you deserve, nor all those other unemployed people. Humiliation is what people should feel if they start to judge you, or anybody else who wants to work but can’t.
  21. Ha - my wife put her foot down when I got to five
  22. Got home to my new commuter and accessories having arrived. The bike was fully built in the box. Brilliant. Ordered online because of restrictions with the cycle2work scheme. Bike shop threw in a cateye light set and some tools
  23. Maybe I need to be more clear. In terms of mud, ice, farm roads etc, the rav 4 was better than the three landrovers I have owned. Not for hard core 4x4’ing, as in driving over boulders and ***, but certainly, for me, for general use. I have owned a 1970’s R6 landie, an ‘85 defender 110 and a 2002/3 discovery, so no modern stuff, so maybe I am not comparing apples with apples.
  24. Those RAV’s are incredible. I had an old 2006 model and I rate it as a better 4x4 than my landrovers ever were. I have my deposit paid for the Tesla 4x4 bakkie thing, with the comfort of knowing I have two or three years to make a final decision.
  25. [emoji23]- I must fit into that category then. Been using one for 4 years now. Lots of crashes on the bike, lots of cliff jumps into the sea etc etc, not broken one yet .
