  2. A friend asked me to post this. He has the option of a Spezialised Epic Expert carbon or Giant Anthem XO or Scott Spark 35 carbon. What would you go for? Anthem has best specs
  3. Does anybody know how the Polar live tracking works? Just curious
  4. go to http://www.cape-epic.com/live/ridertracking.php to see live tracking of top riders. Just dont understand why Burry or Sausie is not on there? Would have made it worth watching
  5. A friend of mine complained the other morning while we were training - he said he had done 10 Arguses, he train about 6 days a week, his "balsakvel" (testicticular skin) is as thick an elephants skin from all the riding, and he still did a worse time this year in the Argus, than last year. This is a waste of time!! Konaman2009-03-17 12:24:51

  13. Try Chain rxn. We also have ordered from them recently, as its unobtainble in SA
  14. And this week you have the SA's on the road in Oudtshoorn and Saturday the SA championship cross-country in George
  15. My biggest wish for 2009 is that the OFFICIALS OR CHIEFS in charge of MTB and Road cycling will discuss the cycling calender, before it becomes official for 2010. Why do we have the U16 road tour and a MTB cross-country National (at the Worlds course) on the same day in Natal, around the 4th of April? We need to have the best riders in SA competing at both events, as most youngsters at that age dont always know what discipline they prefer!!!! I dont know whether there are marriage problems between these two Cycling bodies, but we need to get our act together , start talking and get organised.Konaman2009-03-07 05:12:25
  16. Thinking about the issues here, I suggest that we stop speculating about this. What do you have to gain from grinding them into the ground? We all make mistakes and have regrets about things that we should or should'nt have done in our lifetime. (ps. i am not linked to the companies been discussed)
  17. Details will be on www.queenstown.co.za after the weekend. will add distance from major cities also then. ps we have downhills/single track in this race that will raise your heart rate bigtime. (lets not talk about the climbs)
  18. Thx for info; I agree it should be reasonable. We have a 2 day event on 30/31 May in Queenstown. On day 1 you can either do a 40km or reasonably tough 70km (1600m climb), and day 2 everybody competes together in a very fast 50km (450m climb). We offer free camping with hot showers; venue is situated in a gamepark with lots of buck that can be seen from your tent. How does R180 sound for the 2 day 70km+50km and R140 for the 40km +50km races and also included is a free potjie kos for the Saturday evening?
  19. My club's organising committee had a meeting tonight to discuss an upcoming MTB race. We were unsure what can be considered as a reasonable entry fee for the 40km and 70km distances, at our race. There will be 3-4 sponsored water points and no T-shirts or goody bag will be handed out. We have about R15-R20 000 available for prize money from our sponsors. What do you think should we charge? Konaman2009-03-03 12:27:32

    CSA License

I have given up worrying about my 2009 license. Applied for my boys and I about half way through Dec 2008, and still waiting patiently. Seems like they dont know what they are doing or when they have to do what. I think Africa time has also arrived at CyclingSa, so why worry! I suppose the lesson we have to learn from this, is that we have to apply by about June 2009, for the 2010 licence.

  23. I have bough 17 times from CRC in 5 years. Has never had 1 problem. Always buy enough to cover courier costs and pay by credit card transfer only. Only buy cheap day to day things locally and always have extra costly parts in my workshop at home from CRC, as we have 5 bikes to keep on the road. There must be many other persons like me that would like to support local shops, but they charge ridiculous prices on things like cranksets, chainrings, wheelsets; tyres, seatposts, saddles; XTR groupset components;chains;pedals etc; I bough a Kona dualy frame last year from CRC for R6000 cheaper than what I could get it locally in SA. This is madness. I just pray every night that the rand does not weaken, before my next order is due from CRC
  24. Just thinking last night - I wonder which brands will survive in SA with the credit crunch affecting so many companies overseas. I heard that even China's manufacturing sector is affected. How will this affect the availability of frames in the West? It may be risky to buy a new bike today, and tomorrow you dont have any backup when the frame cracks. Which brands are likely to survive?. I think probably Raleigh, Giant, Trek....... Should one not do a bit of homework before you buy a "not so familiar" brand to avoid backup service issues? Somebody told me the other day that one of the reasonably popular brands in SA , are seriously considering closing shop soon. Konaman2009-02-12 12:11:54
