  1. Just added myself - we should also think of doing one on strava (Still think its the better platform)
  2. Old Faithful - Omega Seamaster Professional
  3. Strava or endomondo for iphone, or if you have an itunes account trainingpeaks mobile. Personally I will stick to my Garmin 800, think vibration will catch up with the glass sides at some stage. IMO off course
  4. You sound like an engineer? But OK point made I will go el-carbo
  5. Thanks dude - you sure about those carbon bars? Not yet ready for the leap of faith!
  6. Taken with Iphone 3S (since switched to 4S - even better quality)
  7. Two good suggestions those - will see what I can find locally first or throw into the next CRC package destined for these shores!
  8. I'm looking to replace the current riser bar on my 29'e with a flatter, non-curve bar like you used to find on the 26'ers. Not sure about carbon but willing to give it a go, but really prefer non-carbon. What would you guys recommend? Attached a picture of the bike FYI (and yes the saddle has been adjusted)
  9. Currently on 2 inch 29'er Continental Race Kings. Not very impressed with the traction. Will try the 2.2 after this but then I need to convince my German blood to try something else.
  10. The only two I am aware of is Biogen's Carbogen and 32GI
  11. Great initiative Will be great if you can build in a function that allows other users to upload MTB trails from their Garmins etc.
  12. Vat eerder die bakkie ou dis bietjie makliker.
  13. I hear you, but I do understand that if you take more than a week off your body starts shedding some of your glycogen reserves, but I will be the first to say I am no expert here. All I know is 32GI worked really well for me in December - I lost 4 kgs, am 2 kgs from race weight and manage to do 2400 kms since mid November - very happy with that result.
  14. Dave, in my personal experience I have found that low GI works VERY well for long endurance rides. I dont even eat an energy bar for anything up to 4.5 hours, and still dont bonk, provided I ride below 150 bpm most of the time (LT = 171 bpm). A zone of 130-140 bpm is ideal. However, over 150 bpm you need to look a higher GI type of drink (I prefer Cytomax), preferably with a lactic acid buffer, although not everybody believes in the latter. Lastly, having not ridden for two weeks, your glycogen stores may have been very low, in which case the low GI certainly wont help!
  15. K for Correct Mr Christie - but I know someone who has an SRM on his 'dale!
  16. Konjar, Im also in the Fourways area. I run Super Record with a SRAM power meter (and therefore SRAM crankarms and chainrings), all BB30. Mine runs very smoothly almost 7,000 kms later. If you're struggling I suggest you contact either Johan Bornman (yellowsaddle) or Hannes Botha (cycle boutique). Because this is top level equipment, only these okes touch my bikes and I can highly recommend both of them. Cheers Hannes Wessels
  17. There should be a Cat for >VD - $> Lots of peeps riding in the pro-elite and vet cats
  18. Thanks All, and also for the PM's Bongo - unfortunately the people mentioned could also not help me, only DHL can do so because they are already in receipt of the package. My goodness they are useless!!! I have now resorted to placing an article on hellopeter.com, hopefully this wakes them up Leturbo - its a Quarq power meter, BB30, quite a nice bit of equipement (plus two Oakleys, one his, one hers!!)
  19. I hope there is someone on this board within the importers of freight forwarding fraternity that can help me? I have recently ordered a package from CRC which, after shipping fees, totalled just over R 20 K. DHL now refuses to release this as you need to have an importers number and the SARS at ORT are just useless and dont even respond to my queries. What is the best way to proceed with this? Many thanks in advance
  20. PM returned. Mucho Gracias!
  21. EXCELLENT!!! I also recently got a 'niner, so its on like Donkey Kong!! Not quite sure where you okes will hide or ride, but I will most certainly join you!
  22. To all the hardcore mounties out there - I am fortunate enough to spend next week in the metropolis of Rhodes, where MTB in SA began Does someone on this board have a garmin track of that race route (the one going up Naudes and coming down Tiffendale's) in Garmin format? Please email to hannes.wessels@gmail.com Will be very grateful if anyone can help me
  23. Good post christie - I would not worry too much what the detractor(s) say above, you need to at least get on a bike from time to time, never mind ride at a certain level of proficiency, to appreciate Campy or Sram Red.
  24. Ja that is pathetic .... Instead of using a spreadsheet rather use Cyclingpeaks WKO does all of the above for you AND plot your rides on Google Earth. Now THAT is geeky
