  1. Anyone doing the Zwift Academy? Stage 5 last night was brutal

    Yes. It's not wonderful...

Despite Yamaha's issues, Rossi still did well in the race - 14th to 6th isn't a bad performance
  4. I don't have medical aid so went government - twice to False Bay for the two initial trips and then to Victoria for the surgery.
  5. Will it be though? Here's the road two weeks ago:
  6. I had a crash a few weeks ago with a pretty bad concussion - I don't remember going for a ride, nor four hours after the ride. Apparently I was asking the same questions over and over again and also got lost in the Silvermine car park (there's only one road leading to it so it's hard to get lost) - found this out the next day from someone who pointed me in the right direction. I eventually went to the hospital about seven hours after the crash after going into shock. Turns out I had broken my collarbone as the worst of the visible injuries, but the doctors were only interested in this - they didn't care about the concussion at all. I brought up the concussion the next day with another doctor and again a few days later with the surgeon pre-op. Nobody cared. To me this was odd since I can see on the gps data that I didn't move at all for twelve minutes, and clearly had issues after. Since then I've noticed I have moments of confusion or I'll ask or think of asking a question which I've already asked. It's a very odd feeling. I keep wondering why nothing was done by the doctors when I was at the hospital though. Is concussion just not taken that seriously here? This is the second time I've had a bad concussion (the first time I was knocked out for a longer period and had more memory loss) and it's now making me worry about what will happen if it occurs again.
  7. I used to have a YZ250 with the full enduro mods - that thing was a beast! Not sure about your less wild comment. That bike had more go than a KTM 300EXC! Was scary most of the time, and I loved it. NoMoreLandy, if you're needing boots I have a pair of Fox boots which I don't use anymore and am going to be selling. Hardly used as I sold my bike shortly after getting them. Size UK 11.
  8. I'm very jealous. Only got to do the Hoogies round. Stupid broken bones.
  9. My biggest gripe with Zwift is the forced days in certain locations. I know there are ways around it, but this should be built into Zwift. Maybe they'll do that when they release the New York route. Here's hoping.
  10. I had XTR and switched to an 11sp XX1 setup with a Sunrace 11-46 cassette. For me it's the best of everything. Great shifting, plenty of gear range, cheap to maintain and I didn't need to get an XD driver. I definitely prefer it over the Shimano. The Shimano is in no way bad, but it just feels a bit 'floppy' compared to the directness of the SRAM. I love the 12sp XO and XX1 stuff but I don't rate the GX particularly highly. It's not got the same crispness and is a lot more finicky in it's setup.
  11. That's the #enduro version
  12. I know, I know. This was a test to see where you are in the grieving process
  13. Although if you had raced a bit faster you would have won...
  14. Mine isn't quite as impressive... At least I still have one KOM on there though
  15. https://veloviewer.com/segments/3245674 There's been 79 people who have gone up there so far in 2018, so not sure where the 'no attempts this year' came from...
  16. 188 repeats! Respect! Here's my Everest hill: https://www.strava.com/segments/10340073
  17. I've done this one too. It's certainly a tough one especially if you've ridden a few trails from McGregor on the way there!
  18. I did Hans se Kop last year. It's not an easy ride, but by no means the hardest either. Even considered doing an Everest attempt on it.
  19. 46 on the back 34 on the front. It's a deceptive hill - the end looks so close but takes so long to get to.
  20. Haven't seen this thread before. I rode this segment again last weekend. I never enjoy it, but it has to be done. It's unrelenting and gets steeper the higher you go - my computer showed 34% at one point near the top! It's too steep to ride straight up (front wheel just lifts) so S's are needed. https://www.strava.com/segments/3368335
  21. I did the 70km route. Was meant to start in A but dropped back to C to ride with mates. I found the signage was fine as long as you read the route split boards instead of just following the yellow and black signs as they said in the briefing. However, being a bit further back in the field this time meant that we merged with the riders doing the shorter distances. This COMPLETELY stuffed up the day for me. There was so much traffic on the trail that it was impossible to move. From the second water-point (great stop at that one! Plenty of food, vibey music, lube - all great!) onward the whole thing was a write-off. I was getting super frustrated, and even the multiple beers at the races unofficial end point at the beer tent couldn't fix it. And then the last 9km of riding around fields in a big circle around Darling felt like an utter waste of time. I feel that switching the route around this year was the problem. Last year we hit all the trails first and then tackled the big climbs at the end. This meant that we never merged with anybody and flowed smoothly. If the course is kept the same as this year I definitely won't be back.
  22. Does anyone know if we can register on the morning at the venue as it has been in the past? I only see pre-registration up until tomorrow listed on the website.
  23. I miss this bike Happy that I got to experience it though. It's a beast that swallows anything in it's path and flattered my poor riding skills. Went uphill surprisingly well too. There's nothing to not like about Evil bikes
  24. Any ETA on the top loading orange bottle cage? I want to get a couple of these with some long fingered gloves
  25. I don't see that as such a hard choice... I've had two KTM's and although I loved them, I did start to get tired of things randomly falling off them or miscellaneous breakages. I've also had two Yamaha's and nothing fell off them. I know where my money would go. The 700 Tenere looks like it'll be amazing
