  1. I really enjoyed my ride! Registration could have been better signposted (I had to ask a few people where to go) but once inside I got my pack quickly and easily (paid many months ago). The route was great, but sheesh it was not suited to a hardtail! I was getting shaken and bounced all over the place! I loved it though. Great views, great snacks at the water points (and awesome vibe from the people there). Having someone finish in 2h30 though makes me feel like a donkey... The worst part of the day for me was hanging around for three hours after I had finished and still not getting a lucky draw prize - especially as there were SO MANY prizes!! I loved the prizegiving commentary though! lolsies
  2. The last event they got it spot on - the route was well marked and it was as long and with as much climbing as they advertised. They seem to have gotten over their teething issues of last year. I hope that it stays like that! A buddy did the 40km and said that it was pretty boring with no real single track. I did the 70 and it was mostly single track!! If it's half as good as it was last time I'll be happy. If I was you, I'd change to the long route.
  3. I'm amped! I thoroughly enjoyed the last one at Boschendal - hope that this one is at the same level!
  4. My entry. My bike desperately needs some more bling! The spindly little aluminium rims just aren't cutting it. Darkhorse wheels would make this already light weight bike a real demon uphills!! I need them in my life!
  5. I've used it (the latex version) and had no issues at all. I went through a minefield of thorns in Mc Gregor, and after pulling them out the sealant sealed them perfectly. Every single one. I have no problem recommending Ryder sealant.
  6. I'm not winning again? This is becoming a horrible habit....
  7. You could run trails and tours from there to make some living money. Might be able to stretch it out to 10 years...
  8. I'd be happy with an "old" "hand me down" "backup" XTC Advanced SL...
  9. Awesome bike! I'd love one. No mention in the article about the change to a Fox fork? A bright orange one nogal. And the Chaoyang tyre in the front?
  10. Your block was probably too big. With the top closed off, you can gently inject some extra fluid into the caliper - you'll see the pistons move in a bit as you're pushing in the fluid. Then lock the bleed screw while you're holding the pressure in the syringe. Problem solved. Unless you let some air into the system on your first attempt...
  11. My time is also off compared to my total recording time on Strava (not just moving time), but I wasn't in contention for any prize money so it doesn't really bother me.
  12. Can't wait to get my new drone
  13. The marathon was a proper mountain bike ride! I loved it! Absolutely zero traffic, so I could attack all of the downhills. The wind sucked, but that can't be helped. The route marking was excellent and the terrain..!! It was special. Absolutely awesome!
  14. Don't use the saguaro on the front. It sucks as a front tyre. It's a brilliant rear tyre, but just doesn't have the grip for the front.
  15. I'm going! Doing the marathon. Really hope that it's one of the good ones, and not a stuff up one.
  16. Hey hey hey!! No acceptance speech until we see open trails!
  17. Worst news ever Great news! "very shortly" for a regular person or "very shortly" from a national parks board perspective? These are two very different things! Just missing my mountain
  18. For now I would be super happy with a link from Silvermine to Tokai. Went for a ride yesterday up Ou Wapad, down Ou Kaapse, all the greenbelts to Rhodes Drive, back up Ou Kaapse, around Noordhoek Peak and Ou Wapad down. All great except Ou Kaapse. Going down isn't too bad as you're pretty much at traffic speed, but going up sucks. Really really sucks. A nice off road link would really make it a good ride.
  19. At the last build day I was told not to pull out aliens, because that's not our job I smell a conspiracy theory...
  20. If they don't fall down in these winds, then they're really not a safety hazard.
