  1. Ride a Hope hub and you'll see just how slow the engagement is on the AC's...
  2. I bought new Crests two weeks ago. I could cry.
  3. And rear derailleur - 10sp RD doesn't work on an 11sp cassette. And different chain rings. *Edit* and a chain...
  4. I got excited to see that they're still doing 10sp in the hope that there would be upgrades to the cassette size, but alas, we're still stuck with the 11-36T. A stock 11-40 would be great!
  5. The battery apparently last about 4 - 6 months, so it hardly needs to be on your mind very much.
  6. Knee brace tan (burn) lines complete with stupid knee circle - epic fail. The lines stayed for over a year...
  7. You don't need a thru axle adapter, just the thru axle itself works fine.
  8. Which is? Burn it? Cut lots of trails into it? Introduce new alien eating bugs? Convince everyone that the green looks nicer than the brown and just live with it? Relocate the community of wood cutters from Ou Kaapse Weg to cut them all down? So many possibilities...
  9. I'm really excited about this! It opens up the mountain a lot more. I was hoping to have slightly more access to the mountain, example - from Cecilia around the top of Kirstenbosch to Rhodes mem. They do mention this link in the draft, but I'd love to see it come into action! There's already a dirt road there. Another would be a link from Tokai to Constantia Nek. I know this is more complex, but it would be nice. At least there is now an alternative on the green belts. An off road route from Red Hill to Cape Point would also have been epic! Great work though guys! I really appreciate the massive amount of effort that's gone into getting this right! I like the new link from Silvermine into Tokai! Can't wait for that to open!
  10. Such a slacker. That's why I like this competition - far lower entry pool = much higher chances of winning.
  11. Why send it all the way there? I can collect any time - I'm only a few km away from the Hub office. I'm about to go past there just now
  12. Ok, surely I've got to win this one!
  13. The clocks go back? I must have missed that memo...
  14. I had Saguaros front and rear and it was ok, but not incredibly confidence inspiring. I could still corner fast, but just got used to the under-steer from the front. Recently changed to a Mitas Kratos on the front with the old front Saguaro now out back. The difference in grip, feel, confidence and tracking is astounding. On my first test ride I came within one second of my best ever descent time on the sketchiest descent around here (also second fasted time down there this year, so I wasn't dawdling!). The level of grip in the front is incredible! It just immediately made the whole bike feel different. Never again will I have a fast rolling tyre on the front!
  15. I see. I'm obviously frothing to get started, as I'm sure is everybody. It would be great to get in there and sort out some trails before it opens though.
  16. I'm allowed to accept gifts (am a partner in the business) but nobody gives me gifts
  17. Great news Deon! When will we be able to get in to start building / repairing any old trails that aren't destroyed? Can this be done before the trails are officially opened? Logic tells me that there should be no danger in doing that in the lower areas away from the harvesting? Or not? Are the gums at the bottom out yet? Or is that still a headache?
  18. I could happily sit in the trees around the gnarly sections and watch people come by. Add in more people, some cow bells, a braai, some drinks, etc and it would be a lekka day out.
  19. Lucky guy! At least he's been online more recently - 9th Feb. Maybe I'll get lucky in the next one.
  20. I don't really recommend the CWC one. I had one, but I hated it. It does hold a bike, but not well. You can't really hold a bike by the seat tube because it twists down - useless. It's also difficult to adjust the clamp jaws while holding the weight of the bike with one hand. And it's seriously flimsy. If you don't have a DH bike and you just want to use it to adjust your gears then fine. Anything more than that and I'd say you should get a real stand. Park Tool FTW
  21. I had fun sitting and watching the DH guys charging through the forest on Sunday. It was also my first time riding at the Helderberg Farm, and it was awesome!! It's almost all single track, and it looks like there are lots of alternative lines which are blocked off - maybe to alternate the trails every now and then to keep it interesting? Who knows, but as it stands there are loads of cool trails and lines to choose from. Can't wait to go back.
  22. It was a really cool event! I had a great time and am looking forward to next year.
