  1. to think that our transport ministry would ever spend resources on such a initiative. http://www.bicyclela.org/ They also have add campaigns running on TV to promote cycling.

What I like about it is that they are brand agnostic (except of course for the tools that you need ). They take into consideration that you might be using Shimano, Sram or Campy.

  4. Did a search for all sort of permutation on tyre, tire, thread, rotation, direction etc. and found nothing really useful but not to worry being a legend, and genius, in my own lifetime I trust my findings.
  5. Been with Outsurance for some years now and never had any issues. You must just remember that you have to manage you own stuff now. There is no broker that is going to phone and make sure you have the best premium. My experience is that most brokers don't do it in any case. Tried getting quote from Miway and they could not get close to my current premium. First rule of insurance - what works for me won't always work for you and vice versa. For some weird reason company A will be cheaper for you but more expensive for me and obviously the other way around. They are all supposed to use similiar models Bottom line, don't listen to other people, do your own research and make a decision based on that.
  6. Thule does make a rather nice one for that and I do not think it's that expensive. Maybe find out from your local dealer. I think it's around 1K
  7. Don't really know what the hoo haa is about. He rolls the dice. He wins, good for him. He looses, bad luck. He is not hiding anything. The model, spec and pic is there to see. If you want it you buy it. You don't want it you don't buy it. Now if he was hiding something it would be different. Consider this: Own your own dance pole and learn to pole dance while you tone your body. Our poles are designed by a professional Pole Dance Instructor. Made out of stainless steel, they are polished to a shine. Quick and easy to install, they require no holes, no drilling and are safe to use. 90 day money-back guarantee. How the hell do you 'design' a pole? But they will sell them. chuck2009-04-28 23:58:10
  8. I keep on forgetting and I keep on telling people the wrong thing but basically you get different types and they range in price from around R400 to R600. You can get the basic annual permit just for Groenkloof which is the cheapest but then you get an annual mtb permit which is valid for groenkloof, fountains and rietvlei which is a bit more expensive. You can get one at the fountains main gate and they will tell you the exact pricing.
  9. Hey if it moves I will try to race it. If it doesn't move I kick it until it does. More often than not I get dropped but watch this space.
  10. Sorry can only help with ride on. My believe is that I trust NO carrier but unfortunately I have to use one. The same principle applies here as to what you would apply if you are going to trust something/somebody with anything - Always check before and after. Before putting your bike on kick, pull, slap and shout at your carrier to make sure everything is sound. Again afterwards. No guarantees but at least some peace of mind. Don't do this if the neighbors can hear you. They'll think you're busy with the wife
  11. Could very well be. Since it worked previously I did not make any changes when putting the tires on the right way. Actually it never occurred to me that it could require a suspension adjustment. Problem is that you have to really push it around the corners to feel the difference but then it is huge. And the way you feel it is with your skin so I'll first have to heal up from my previous tests before I attempt some more experimentation
  12. and this is exactly where it looses the plot. When it is right way round I cannot push it around a corner without falling over.
  13. That makes sense because the blocks are slanted to the back if mounted right way around. I could live with this but the handling just went for a ball which was my main concern. I did the exact same single track a few times over between changes and there is a distinct improvement doing things wrong . Just what my teen boys would like to hear
  14. It's not a matter of warming the muscles. What a rub, and the potion, does is to improve blood circulation. Heat causes the capillaries to expand resulting in better blood flow. A rub can achieve this since capillaries are shallow. It will not warm muscles, you will need more than a rub for that. But with blood flow improved muscles will warm up quicker. Oh and BTW I am a gerontologist so I know about these things.
  15. Ah now I see. Then I guess I should be taking the seasons into account as well since the rotation angle in relation to the sun will be different . And this makes me think of the gravitational pull. I'll have to watch the moon.
  16. Meaning more/less grip, more/less rolling resistance?

    Bike racks

Not sure how handy you are but if you are then I would suggest you make your own. And while you're at it make a 'ride on'. It eliminates problems that you could face with frame compatibility and hanger type carriers. If you are not into DIY I would still suggest 'ride on'. You obviously need a towbar.
  18. I totally understand the use of rotation direction in bike and car tires but what is the sense in bicycle tires (MTB)?
  19. I normally ride every Wed, Sat and Sun Wed - variable time but usually around 15h00 Sat - usually 7am but with winter on us I think this will now become 8am or later Sun - As Sat I've got an annual permit so chances are if you see somebody there it's me. I'm a firm believer in getting value for you money
  20. Think! As this is not a natural action you have to think about it until it becomes second nature, and it will. So as you are slowing down to stop keep repeating a mantra to yourself - unclip, Unclip, UNclip, UNCLIP, ooo sh*t. Soon enough it will become a natural action
  21. Anybody here use/d one of these? Opions? I got myself one and must say that I am impressed. For now at least for I have only done ~100Km on it. Reviews in general say that the break-in period is long so if it's going to get any better than it is right now I just won't be able to take it . My wife crapped on me for bringing the dirty bike into the bedroom yesterday and I went "O sorry did not realize I'm still on the bike".
