  1. I have been using the Saris Bones 2 now for a while and it is easy to use and works well whether at speed on the freeway or down a steep dirt road loaded with two 29er mtb bikes and it fits them both very well too.
  2. You can mountain bike midday between Clarens and Golden Gate, up the dirt road to Bokpoort game farm and on to Rebellie game farm and then up the 4x4 trail to the top of the hills overlooking the Caledon river. From there you can take the trail to Camelroc, quite technical and not easy all the way to near the Calendonspoort border post with Lesotho. Would do it in a larger group though.
  3. I like my new little blade
  4. Hmm. I buy my own roasted beans. Grind them up. And use a plunger
  5. GUL Swedish watch
  6. I got pushed by some big dude on the Spruit a few months ago. I was riding in Delta up top on the path- maybe I should have let him have the path? Dunno? Next time I can go around him- walkers can use the Spruit too he had a big dog and a hot babe so maybe was trying to impress her. He pushed my mate too. He didn't push my 3rd mate as he is a big guy lol. Maybe he was a coward after all. Didn't bother me much though.
  7. have u contacted avianto about this?
  8. I still think its overpriced. I use a used Saris Bones 2 that I bought off here for 1k. Works well, is solid, and takes 2 bikes. The Hornet takes one bike and is 2.3k....... more than the Saris Bones new.
  9. Looks great. Reviews overseas are very good. But 3.5k for the Talon? And over 2k for the Hornet (I am looking at this for me) which is just 2 suction cups? No way I'm paying over 2k for two suction cups.
  10. Hi. I have upgraded from 26 to 29 and takes getting a bit used to but is worth it. I was looking at the Sola 4 but bought the Sola 3 which is about 1-2k more. For that you get a lighter bike with better components and a better air shock. I am happy with it.
  11. I bought a used steel MTB last year for R1000 and sold it for R800 after I realized I do wanna MTB. Then bought a used Specialized 26in hardtail and rode a lot with it. Paid 2k and sold it for 1.8k after I realized I needed a better newer bike. Bought a new Trek x-caliber 4 for 4.5k and sold it for 4k after I realized I needed better components. Just bought a Silverback Sola 3 from a bike shop with air shock and SLX and am happy. Got what I need for my ability (intermediate) and wishes, and got a bike carrier to use with it (Bones for a hatchback, works amazingly well). I think MTBing is about constant tweaking and upgrading of clothes, components and bikes. I only knew what I wanted and needed after riding different trails on different bikes. A good used MTB is fine and a good bike shop will sell them. After buying online, I also realise one needs to be careful with that. A good bike shop will let you test ride the bike and will let you ride their top end demo bikes on an outside mini test track.
  12. i serviced my old mtb at linden cycles earlier this year. they charged, but i got what i wanted, bike ran smooth incl needed new components and i felt it was worth it. they also called, kept me informed. and were on schedule. great bike shop and i drive there rather than closer ones to where i live.
  13. saw a guy wiped out on Fri morn coming down the big dip after Fratellis side, concussed shaking and bleeding, he was with some mates and they called Netcare- is that guy ok?
  14. Hi I use tyre liners on my tubes (26 inch tyres, plastic liners). Are kevlar tyre liners available here in Jhb? These should stop anything really from penetrating? Thanks.
  15. hey I was in Clarens in Dec 2013 and road on-road from Kiara Lodge to off-road Rebellie farm and up the farm roads to a game farm, where i did the off-road 4x4 trail, nice game viewing and great scenery, did not have time and was alone else would have continued down the trail to the caledon river border with lesotho...
