  1. Good, because I am not packing my bike up and flying with it to JHB again so riding on my boyfriend's 26er...so I need to think carefully about doing the 40km or the marathon on a strange bike,
  2. Looking for someone that wants to share transport to Greyton from Cape Town....too many races in September! PM me.
  3. Just entered, Holy moly. This better help my K2C!
  4. Anyone want to share transport to Greyton? I have Tip Trans Cederburg, an MTN Adverdurance race in Gauteng and then Karoo2Coast all in the following weeks. #feelingpoor
  5. Personally i quite like it! Its a matter of preference. I know cyclists are all about appearances but seriously, missing out on a bike you otherwise like because of its colour seems a little silly.
  6. i phoned and they said they would have a few road numbers, and i asked nicely and said, well please could you bring my road number!
  7. Guards...on bikes? Obviously bought at Game otherwise they'd soon be foot patrolling. But it is good for cycling - sad for the direction this country is heading further in every day.
  8. they told me to collect it afterwards - but by the time I finished the long route at 1pm they had packed away.
  9. What a gorgeous day, beautiful route. Helleva climb up Koringberg. I got 1300m ascent total. Obviously needed the physio this week, battled with back and neck pain for 45km, last 20km not too bad (i finally overtook people haha). Route marking i give a 6/10 for, not always easy and some people took wrong turns (i decided since there was no marker to go straight through the field - turned out to be correct). Did 3h50. Racetec results not up yet boo. On a separate note, an old Afrikaans guy on a blue Giant and in a Namakwa jersey, tossed his gel wrapper into the veld. I confronted him (it went over a fence else I would have told the bastard to pick it up). He had a temp number 66. Tried to report him to the PPA after the race but they just were not interested (the fatsos sitting the bus at the finish line). Told me to report him to their colleagues at the top, but they had packed up already. Quite annoyed by this, he should be banned from joining PPA. Also thanks PPA for bringing my road number, as kindly requested by phone yesterday (not - useless *******). Also, ambulance had no Savlon or detol. Seems a tad strange as one would think that is what you need at an MTB race. thanks to Nitrodon (fourth place dude you machine) for organising me a lift with Iteachcoffee! Hubbers rock! Copperhead you lurker, if you are reading this I missed you (you know, seeing you at the start and riding into the distance).
  10. hillarious I know David personally. Just called him thank you!!
  11. Edgemead, so right on the N7. Plus I can navigate.
  12. Smartass, the Thule bike rack doesnt fit on my car.
  13. Anyone going to this race from Cape Town tmrw and want to share transport? My hubber lift has had a go-carting crash and might not ride.
  14. In December 2013 I bought a Thule frame adaptor bar model 982 so that I could fit my new duel-sus bike onto my Saris Bones rack. It cost me R290. Yesterday, at the same shop, the same piece of metal/steel is now R450. In other words, it has increased in price by around 50%, in less than a year. (there is also a flimsy looking model, the 981, for R350) Now I know the interest rate fluctuates and I understand price increases, but this is a little bloody ridiculous, IMHO. Any other suggestions for this gadget? Been told that Sportsmans Warehouse has something similar but of course would rather spend the money and know that my bike is not going to fall off the car...
  15. Except if you're riding with your DC team?
  16. Yeehaaa just entered the 65km. Will be my first MTB ride since Bastille Festival.
  17. Spin classes once or twice a week at VA. However the 45 minute classes are too short and not enough 90min classes at suitable times for me. But I find it helps with my fitness, I recover faster at the top of my climbs when I am spinning. Better to spin than not cycle at all. ALso more engaging and entertaining than sitting at home on the IDT. So I mix it up, spinning, outdoor training and IDT.
  18. I too didnt want to fork out for a towbar, but it was more a case of finding a boot mounted rack that fits your car, rather than choosing which one you want! I have the Saris Bones 2, i think it was about R1 700. Its worked well for my hyundai i20 for a year. However it is not approved by Saris for use on my model car, but Thule had nothing that fitted. Good luck! I cant imagine ever affording kids and my bicycles!
  19. Very temped to try the 115km, how does it compare with K2C? I guess if I am doing k2c in sept I might as well as try this race 2 weeks before.
  20. So that is when your birthday is! HA!
  21. Nice work all you CMS chocolate milk stout finders! Not easy to get it, SAB only made 1300 cases for national distribution. Glad some of you enjoyed it. Have you also tried the new Castle Milk Stout Ultra Smooth? Its SAB's first nitrogenated beer, so its the closest you will come to drinking draught but from a can.
  22. I love CBC Amber Weiss, definitely one of the best post-ride treats. Having said that, the people below who rubbished the big beer brands should watch: www.youtube.com/watch?v=QC6ClxDnkp4#t=73 A little project proving that when people taste Castle and think its craft, they rave about it.

  24. Team Pure Savage leaving the skinny tyres at home?
