  1. The birth of a gravel/cx/monster bike.
  2. I was just about to ask, do you really need hydraulic disk on a gravel bike? I am looking to build a bike, but want to use an old groupset and mechanical brakes. Is it worth investing in new hydraulic shifters?
  3. Wow, over a 1000 sub 3's. Weather must have been perfect.
  4. What was the winning time, my you tube did not want to work.
  5. What, no polony? Usually unused stuff end up in goodie bags.
  6. Sorry, should have mentioned b seeding group for ppa.
  7. B group. Always a difficult group to get out. Workers are the same every race and 1km before the end you see people in your group for the first time. A group race for position, time does not matter. B ride to get into A, for that they must work together, but there are a very few times in my live that that happened.
  8. I am BL. 6.25. Wonder what the L is for. Look like 5 min between start groups. That is alot.
  9. I know myself and i would just end up putting the money into my house bond. Were the other half is already going.
  10. I will make my last payment at the end of this month on a double cab bakkie. I bought it because 4 years back my boy was born and my single cab bakkie was to small and a pram would not fit in the boot of the car. I payed off the bakkie 1 year faster then my original payment contract. Now i am very tempted to take half of the monthly payment i was used to pay and get a new bike. (old bike is wasted and would cost to much to upgrade) Can you get finance for just a year?
  11. I ride with a saddle bag and if I pass a guy without a saddle bag along the route screaming and begging bomb, bomb, i just smile and wave.
  12. Over 44 avg. They were flying!
  13. I was asked Sunday to join a team. One of their riders got sick over the weekend. So 2017 dc, here I come with no training!
  14. Ouberg en gifberg. Sand wind en baie klim.
  15. Upgrade from the muna balance bike.
  16. Another thing to remember is how expensive new bikes became. I bought my first roadbike 10 years ago for R4000 brand new and with 105. A new rider would have to put down R10000 now for a bike and kit and that would be for a entry level bike.
  17. Ditto
  18. Look like entries are not flying as fast as previous years. I just got a mail saying that they have extended entries till the 3rd of October.
  19. If I lived in Cape Town, I would have entered without thinking twice, but I live in the rural areas and have to choose my races carefully. I do not want to go to CT for nothing. I will skip this year and hopefully the race will continue without a problem. I will enter again if things settle down and my little boy is big enough to ride. I just have a funny feeling these guys realized they have the ctct by the balls.
  20. Bolla, who took the photos of the event and where can we view it?
  21. And the singletrack was also removed this year.
  22. Yes, if you can handle sinkplaat. There is about 400m singletrack at the end, but that is the most technical of the route.
  23. Malcolm, I will pm you a link to my strava later today.
  24. Much like the malmesbury 100 miler, with just 1 big climb. If you have done the cederberg 100 miler then you would know the part from Clanwilliam to Algeria. One year there was a lot of sinkplaat. I do not know what condition the road is in this year.
