I think I remember those cranks - the freewheel was in the bb/crankset, so you could change gear with the front or rear derailleur without pedaling - there was no freewheel at the cassette, so the chain was always running.

Hmm. So if it's going to be a lottery, then my chances of success will increase if enter myself, and then my mom, my dad, my wife and my three kids (who don't ride)in the lottery. I'll have 7 chances of getting an entry instead of 1. All I do is a substitution to get the entry on my name, and pay a FEE for the privileged. So the CTCT can expect a massive increase in the number of ballot entries, ultimately the same number of race-day riders, and a ton of extra cash for substitutions. It's amazing what kind of behaviour results from wayward incentives. Another unexpected result could be a huge increase in rogue riders who just can't be arsed to go through the schlep that entering has become.

If I lived in Manhattan or somewhere like that, then this would make sense. Could be very, very light, less than 4 kg if make properly. Reckon the handlebar could collapse as well, so you could carry it onto the tube. Then your walk to your apartment or office is much quicker.
