  1. Hi Martin, Thanks for the assistance I think it might come to that, but the crank is not on mt Primary Bike, it's on my 26" play bike.
  2. Hi guy's and gals. I have a Giant Crank with 24mm spindle and there is some play between the crank arms. It's not like the Shimano cranks that have pinch bolts. It has a bolt similar to the octerlink cranks. Is there some sort of paste I can put on the splines to stop the play? The play is parallel to the wheels. Thanks
  3. Hi Stew I would Not look at a FatBike... They are heavy and the wide tyres cause a lot of rolling resistance. What is your Budget? and where do you plan on riding? Spruit, Modderfontein, Northern Farms?
  4. This is so sad!!! Condolences to the Family.
  5. How much do you weigh? I weigh 100kg and would NOT buy a 2nd hand Anthem. I love my Giant Anthem !!! and have had 4! 1st 26" (2005) bought 2nd Hand - Frame Cracked 2nd 26" (2009) bought 2nd Hand - loved it sold on BikeHub 1st 29" (2011) bought 2nd Hand - Frame Cracked 2nd 29" (2013) Bought New - Frame Cracked - Replaced under warranty My 2013 29" Anthem the frame cracked ( at the Top tube and Seat Post). Fortunately I bought it new and the frame was replaced with a 2017 model. The 2017 model Giant has addressed the weak spot at the Toptube and Seatpost and it looks stronger. If you're under 85kg Yes buy a 2nd Hand Anthem - you will not regret it !! if you're over 85kg rather get a Specialized, Trek, Scott Or Silverback. if I had to replace my Anthem and given my 100kg weight, I would go for a 2nd hand 'Trail Bike' with a beefier frame in the lines of: Silver Back Stratos (120mm Trail Bike) Specialized Camber or Stump Jumper Merida 120 600

  10. Thanks Thermophage, a little out of the budget range and no internal battery. I current have a similar setup with MagicShine 1000lm headlamp ( with external Bat) on my lid and and MagicShine 1000lm bar mount ( with External Bat) on my bars, I bough them about 10 years ago. The lights still work great but I am looking to simplify with the internal Batteries.
  11. Thanks for your input Savage. 14. Hi hubbers I at looking at getting a new Bike Light an am considering this: https://www.rydercycling.co.za/ryder-products/lights/900-lumen-front-detail Does any know how wide the beam is? I can't find any information on this on the interweb. I am wanting a Wide Beam for MTB night riding not a SPOT light. I have lights similar to the Marvel Pro 900 and Streak lights but I am looking for a strong Light and Battery in one. Thanks for your input.
  15. I was in BoxMan the other day and saw this... walk in walk out... R145... https://boxman.co.za/product/bicycle-box-dwb-double-wall-board/?v=68caa8201064
  16. The Reba 80mm is too little, you will need at least 120mm fork or 130mm Check the Reba you may be able to convert it to 100,120, 130 mm
  17. This is from my cycling whatsapp group: "he (the cyclist) came from Bayside on the wrong side and wanted to cross over to the cycle lane on the junction. The cars stopped on red, but the bus had green, so the bus hit him head on. Then the bus tried to swerve and went into the opposite lane." As I said, not an eyewitness account - just what was posted on our group. Wow!! Cyclist miss read traffic lights and causes a bus to swerve almost flipping the bus... kudos to the bus driver!
