  1. It appears the FreeSoul commented on a thread back in 2018 with a similar situation, Buying an unseen bike, selling on behalf of a friend The Opening Post "I recently had a terrible experience on the Bikehub, the seller has a 96% positive rating with a total of 28 ratings. This led me to think that I could trust the seller, he stays in the Western Cape. It was my first time buying a bike without seeing, also my last." https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/178467-name-and-shame-hub-member/page-1 https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/178467-name-and-shame-hub-member/page-8?do=findComment&comment=3375568
  2. [2021/01/08, 12:48:39] Luke: So does price include shipping? Also, crack length? [2021/01/08, 14:50:32] Luke: ? [2021/01/08, 14:51:01] S Works: No it does not include shipping. It is 172.5. more a mistake, than a lie [2021/01/08, 14:59:11] Luke: Can you get me a price with shipping? [2021/01/08, 15:26:34] S Works: Shipping will be R600 extra. [2021/01/08, 15:32:40] Luke: Cool. Can you perhaps send more pics of the bike? Really keen. [2021/01/08, 15:46:16] S Works: This is the original color. We put decals over it. ""BIG ALARM BELLS"" [2021/01/08, 15:56:34] Luke: Thanks. Can you send me your bank details? [2021/01/08, 16:00:05] S Works: It's my friend's details. You can just pay him. ""ALARM BELLS"" [2021/01/12, 10:24:55] Luke: Quick question, do you know what BB the bike takes? - You're asking this after you paid for the bike!?! [2021/01/12, 11:19:36] S Works: Hi Luke, it takes a Bb30 bb. Actually just 2x 6806 bearings with 2 circlips. And then a adapter to make a Shimano crank work. [2021/01/12, 11:23:51] Luke: Great! [2021/01/15, 11:44:24] Luke: Hi. Got the bike! All looks good. Are the original decals under the new ones? You're asking this after you received the bike!?!?!
  3. That's what your Lawyers are going to do and they're going to charge you R2000 per hour to do it.
  4. Saturday arrived, grabbed the bike and headed out to the cradle to meet my team for its maiden voyage. Rode up the first rise (1km) then started shifting to biggest great for decent. Heard a weird grinding sound coming from the RD. Stopped too check what’s going on as I have never heard this sound before (I have a TT bike with the same Di2). At this point in time, I start fiddling with the shifters, but no matter what I do, It's stuck in the same gear and the grinding sound continues. I check the front FD in case something is off and causing the issue. To my surprise I notice a crack on the side of the motor mechanism. Ride over for the day so I pack up and head home. I message seller on the way home (15/01/2021) stating what I have observed on the FD and that the RD is stuck. I am obviously pretty pissed off that the FD is cracked as this wasn’t brought to my attention during the sale. Saturday morning 16th Jan, 06:32am I received a photo of the front derailleur showing the cracked housing, where the buyer says he was about to start riding and he noticed the crack. 10.23am I told him I was trying to get hold of my friend and will revert to him with a plan. 11.25am I phoned him later and told him I am sorry about it and did not notice the crack when I boxed the bike, but I will look for a replacement front derailleur and replace it. I then learned that his gears are not working at all now and he has tried to take it out of crash mode will diagnose it on E-Tube. ‎[2021/01/16, 06:32:28] Luke: ‎<attached: 00000070-PHOTO-2021-01-16-06-32-28.jpg>[2021/01/16, 10:23:00] Luke: Would appreciate a response.[2021/01/16, 10:23:48] S Works: Hi Luke, sorry just trying to get hold of the owner to find out from him. As I didn't see that when I boxed the bike.[2021/01/16, 10:24:22] Luke: Please do and revert with a plan.[2021/01/16, 10:36:54] S Works: I will definitely get back to you within this morning still.[2021/01/16, 10:37:06] Luke: Shot.[2021/01/16, 11:31:58] S Works: Just please make sure that the Derailleur isn't possibly in crash mode.[2021/01/16, 11:32:45] Luke: Tried already to remove it out of crash mode. No luck. Let me see what E-TUBE says. Buyer says in OP that he notified Seller of the faulty RD and the same time as the cracked FD Seller says he only learned the gears (RD) were not working after 11:25am Buyers WhatsApp only indicated a photo was sent at 06:32am
  5. No Probs, The devil is in the details (or lack there of)
  6. I see 11 of the ratings have happened in since 11 January, after the sale of "this" bike (9 Jan 2021).
  7. Luke (aka FreeSoul) mentioned Rikus' name (aka 'The Seller' aka Oepsie94) in a post this morning btw i am Adam (aka AdamA)
  8. In your opening post you omitted that the details about taking the bike for a test ride and the gears worked 100% on Wed 13th - you only added that in #73 You still have not said : if you attached the cockpit properly with a torque wench if the rear wheel was attached in the box how you transported to bike to the Cradle - threw it in the back of bakkie or transported on the back seat of a car, or on a bike rack or road it 1km in the direction of the cradle confirmed if you have a tax invoice (or not) said which "Specific software" you used for 'Clean'up the photo of the FD These are relevant questions to determine if you at taking proper care of a R60k carbon bike if the RD could have been damaged by yourself if the RD could have been damaged during transport to the cradle if you have a viable CPA claim if the seller had indeed tried to hide the crack in the FD
  9. Welcome to the conversation Rikus, some proof would be great. Up until now we've been dealing with a one-sided story with no proof and a lot of missing details.
  10. Nope, I don't even know they guy, I thought it was someone else with 18 x 5Star reviews (who i din't know either)
  11. 1- The cracked FD was disclosed in WhatsApp photos prior to sale, and the Seller was not aware of this but is still willing to replace like for like (2nd Hand) - this makes the seller reasonable, not dodgy. According to you the RD was working 100% on Wednesday 13 Jan. 2- How did the seller confirm the crank length? BikeHub Advert Details = False advertisingPhoto on WhatsApp = Fraud (using misleading photos)Telephone conversation = hearsay / your word vs his wordWhatsApp Message -"Yes, I think crank is 172.5mm" - would not be a lie "Yes crank is 172.5mm" - maybe a lie or a mistake "Yes crank is 172.5mm, I just checked" would be a Lie "Yes crank definitely is 172.5mm" would be a Lie You are not giving us the full picture and omitting important details.
  12. If you sell something cheaply then you can lie about it? No, I'm not saying its okay to lie, I'm saying "if its to good to be true it probably isn't' Would you check the crank length on a bike the second it arrives? Yes, if had specified I wanted a 19" frame, with 10 Speed XT gears and 780mm handle bars and 175mm crank, and Tubeless Tyres, I would check each of those individually. I wouldn't necessarily check the following: if the chain was Shimano, SRAM or KMC the cassette was Shimano, SRAM or Sunrace if the shifter cables were Shimano or Jagwire ( not that i could tell the difference anyway) Cracked handle bar? That was a cheap-shot at the OP for putting his R60K carbon bike together without a Torque wench - I apologize, it was unnecessary. I don't think the Lawyers route is the best way, but if you can afford it then yes go have some fun. But the Lawyers on either side will will be asking the questions similar to what i have been asking?
  13. Next time buy your bike from Cycle Lab, they have a 30 day Money back Guarantee... and a 10 point check on used bikes. https://www.cyclelab.com/promise/30day-guarantee#:~:text=WE%20OFFER%20A%2030%2DDAY%20MONEY%2DBACK%20GUARANTEE,-We%20are%20confident&text=If%20your%20ride%20is%20not,a%20full%20credit%20or%20refund.
  14. We still don't know what bike you bought or seen any pictures of the defects... for all we know you could have bought a Tarmac SL7 Expert - Ultegra Di2 with a retail value of over R100k for R60k and now complaining about how it doesn't meet your expectations. You didn't do do your 'due diligence' but inspecting the goods yourself and now expecting the seller to take responsibility for for your actions or lack there of. If you specifically asked for confirmation of 172.5mm cranks, then this should have been one of the first things you checked on the 13 Jan when you received the bike. if its not printed on the crack how do you check this accurately? is it printed on the crank? You still haven't answered the a lot of my questions, specifically regarding owning a torque wrench. next week we going to hear about the Cracked Handle bar. You now only have a couple of options: Get lawyers involved (be prepare to invest R5k-10k and wait at least 6 months) or Name and ShameChalk the Additional costs up as school feesRemember what you learnt for those school fees
  15. I don't think your being unreasonable. If he doesn't make right by the weekend i think you need to tell us who it is in addition to giving him a bad rating.
  16. The 'wood' be a great bike to have Years ago i saw a bike made of bamboo in Bicycling MAG always want to build one as a project bike... something like this https://bicyclesouth.co.za/listings/calculus-bikes/
  17. Hey Alex, I would put my name down for a Dot watcher/Virtual Marshal. I couldn't do it 24/7 but definitely in shifts of 2 or 3 hours (maybe 6hrs but that would be stretching it)
  18. The Difference is that PantherPunchTV seem to create Random/Funny/Controversial videos that highlight stereotypes for entertainment, there product is the Video and you pay for it by supporting their channel and watching the adds that come with it. The Biogen Video is destroying their product image and reputation.
  19. Shimano have Different Levels same as Intel CPU Chips in a PC. Intel Atom = Shimano Components ( Makro/Game) Intel Celeron = Shimano Acera/Alivio Intel I3 = Shimano Deore Intel i5 = SLX Item i7 = XT Edit: With a Makro/Game Bike : - the wheels are Crap and will buckle in a weekThe brakes will stop working and the head set bearings (steering bearings) will need constant maintenance My first 3 Rides (18 years ago) a borrowed a bike from my brother's neighbor, 26", Cantilever Brakes and rigid fork ( better that a Makro Bomber) after 3 rides I knew I liked the sport and was willing to buy a decent entry level Bike (R4300 18 years ago) Where are you based? What size are you? If you're in JHB, am willing to take you on 3 rides to see if you want to get into this, I have a couple of spare bikes and we can do easy rides like the Spruit, or the Cradle or Northern Farms
  20. fixed A couple of years ago there was a bargain on 2nd hand Giant Trance in Cape Town, I was preparing to fly to Cape Town, check and inspect the bike and fly back the same day (with the bike). my logic was The R3500 return plane ticket the price of the bike was still a bargainLoosing R3500 doing a due diligence was better than buying something that wasn't what I expected. The bike was sold before I booked the plane ticket.
  21. This answers some of my questions, you still have said if you put the rear wheel on. Another question: Do you own a Torque Wrench?
