  1. This could be one of the reasons why more people test positive in European countries... I read an article years ago (2005 or 2007) in a Bike Magazine, about how doping was so prevalent in the European teams because many of their riders were from poor Eastern European countries. This was before the testing standards were raised. The young riders showed some talent and made the team as Domestiques. With their cycling contract, they could support their entire family (parents and siblings) back home. It was a financial decision... Dope and stay in the team or don't dope and go back home to be a minimum wage worker in a tile factory.
  2. Hey Robert, Payment done this morning, Thanks so much for stepping up to the plate (again).
  3. Hi Robert, What are the Thru Axle wheels worth? ( I assume Atlehang only needs the front wheel ) I will contribute R300. I am sure there are many more people that will contribute so that you don't have to carry the complete cost. DM me your Banking details.
  4. What MadMarc said! ^^^ I go into Soloman's Woodmead when ever I an in the area. They have great bargains and are always polite.
  5. Hi, I might have a solution at 6'3" that would put him on a XL frame. I have 2 XL Hard Tail Bikes , Old School 26 V-Brake Scott Yacora and Momsen 529 29er I would need a deposit to the value of the bike, which would be fully refundable if you return the bike in the same condition as you got it. If the bike is stolen form your possession then you will forfeit your deposit If the bike components are damaged, I will deduct the price of replacement parts (Second Hand - Like for like) If the frame is Dented, Bent , or Cracked ,I will deduct the the second hand value from your deposit If it has a scratch or 2 more, from being dropped or from from the bike rack, I will not be bothered. This is meant to anchorage you (or your son) to enjoy the bike , ride with in your capability, and treat it as you if you owned it. Both bikes are more that capable of doing 100km of gravel riding or 10-60km of riding at Northern Farms, Cycle Lab Bike Park, 26 V-Brake deposit would be R4000 Momsen 29er Deposit would be R9000 This offer is not intended for me to make money, but more to enable you and your son to enjoy this great sport on some decent, well maintained equipment. I am based in Broadacres Fourways, you would need to collect and return the bike here. DM me if you are interested..
  6. I have never lost a bottle on a ride! I use cheap Aluminum bottle cages like this https://www.sportsmanswarehouse.co.za/product/giant-alloy-bottle-cage/ This nice thing about these is you can bend them for a tighter or loser fit On Saturday I forgot my Camelbak bottle at home, so bought an Energade at the Trailhead, squashed the bottle cage, and slipped the Energade into the cage. Damm that energade was sweet!!!
  7. I think the the ebike community would complain about that the same way we complain about ebikes

  9. Those Cup and Cone bearings and Axels look shot!! but you should be able to get them from any Bike shop for about R50 Did you use BikeHubPay? it's the only way I would buy something without viewing it in person

  11. I have a Casio Edifice (divers) watch. To replace the battery at Cajees is R200. To have it Pressure tested is another R600. I don't dive with the watch so don't really need to have it Pressure tested, so I buy a R25 battery from Clicks and do it myself. I think the reason Garmin won't replace the battery is that locally, they don't have the Dust-free/sterile environment where the watches are originally made, so they cannot guarantee it will meet the OEM standards. If Garmin don't sort you out, you could take the watch to the Cell-Fix guys and I'm sure they would be able to make a plan it this .... https://pclinkshop.com/products/hqrp-battery-works-with-pd3555-garmin-fenix-1-fenix-2-tactix-gps-watch-361-00061-00-3-7v-500mah-coaster I am sorry for you loss, and understand your frustration. Many years ago I bought a A200 Merc and extended the warrantee to 7years/100000km. At 105,000km the Automatic Gearbox went, cost me R35K and took 7 weeks to repair A month later the right driveshaft snapped. R8000. A month later the left drive shaft snapped R7500. I sold the car 2 weeks later for R65000.(netting only R15,000 after the repairs) To me your options are a. Fight with Garmin for the next 3 months and 'maybe' get some joy b. take your watch to Cell-Fix guys and see if they can make a plan - but your watch won't be waterproof c. spend the R4000 for the Repair ( but make sure you get a "New" watch) and then sell it "New still in box" and buy another brand d. spend the R4000 for the Repair ( but make sure you get a "New" watch) and then enjoy the watch like you did 2+ years ago.
  12. Where are you based? what sort of trainer are you looking for? Basic resistance or full Watt measurement and Swift compatible?
  13. Did you ever think that maybe the MSRP (Regular Price) was wrong, and it should have been R3590 less 50% = R1795 ?
  14. I have a Trapezium Bike Rack (Hang-on style, bought 18 years ago) ... I can put 3 bikes on the rack and tow a trailer - happy days????

  16. You are welcome to try my Pannier and bags, BUT, 1 - they only fit on a Hardtail and 2 - I'll need them back in September as I am planning a trip. Pannier/rack weighs about 1.2 kg - similar to https://www.decathlon.co.za/bike-racks/187311-18723-100-24-28quote-bike-pannier-rack.html bags from Decathlon weigh 930g - https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/double-bag-100-2-x-15l/_/R-p-158320 https://forum.bikehub.co.za/topic/189457-bikepacking-bike-touring/?do=findComment&comment=3818525
  17. It can't be VITUS, they don't have a Multi Owner warranty, only Original Owner
  18. Originally I thought it was VITUS bikes... https://www.google.com/search?q=fox+34%2C+slx+12+speed%2C+wtb+30mm%2C+brand+x+dropper%2C+schwalbe+hans+damp https://www.google.com/search?q=slx+12+speed%2C+marzocchi+bomber%2C+rs+monarch%2C+brand+x+dropper%2C+wtb+30mm%2C+schwalbe+hans+damp BUT I see that VITUS don't come with a Multi Owner Warranty. Do your bikes come with Warranty? We offer a 5-year warranty on all our frames. On top of that we also offer an extended 2-year warranty on all components excluding wear and tear items such as bearings, brake pads, chains & cassettes etc. Our Warranty policy applies to the original owner and processed by our exclusive retail partners. To see their warranty process check: CRC & Wiggle
