  1. It is interesting to note that we lost to the 2 teams that ultimately won the final. The DL loss to Pakistan may have ended being a close game, but lets not get into the "what-if's". I enjoyed Pakistan's energy yesterday. Their aggression with ball, bat and in the field showed how tight they have become as a team, whereas India seemed to rely on their individual stars to pull them through. I like "smaller" teams like New Zeeland and Pakistan with very few "super stars" but who always seems to punch above their weight. Pakistan seemed to invest in good coaching staff and with not having "home-based" cricket (all their home games are played in the UAE due to the political volatility in Pakistan) they seemed to have worked out how to play away from home pretty much all of the time. I would have loved to see a round-robin first round without this pool A and pool B nonsense. The 92 World Cup was Epic in my view because of each side playing the other side to get to the top 4 for the play-offs. Well done Pakistan. I'll be watching them more closely going forward.
  2. It was also a Bok B-team. The A-team are all on overseas contracts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  3. The problem is that Lambie is the Land rover of Rugby. He's good when he's not broken (which is a lot!). Fly half remains slim pickings for the Boks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  4. People assume he was denied access because of the doping violation. Perhaps he was caught rogue riding at the park before and was therefore not allowed to ride there. If it was because of a doping violation, De Villiers should also have been denied permission to ride his trails. The organizers should in future get clarity from land owners about dopers / other violations that may have riders banned from land owners' trails. My personal dislike of Stewart and Wilson aside, the situation was not handled correctly. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

  6. Brandon Steward was not welcome at GRTP due to his doping conviction. I have chatted to many riders who participated and have not heard anyone did not agree with GRTP on this. Despite not being allowed to ride, they were still given Shan Wilson's time for day 2, but as a compromise the prize money by the winners was all donated to the Knysna sports school. I suspect that the event will have to change its stance on dopers if they wish to use GRTP for future events.
  7. I did stage 1 today. I did the 'full'. We all knew it was going to be a hot one and most of those who were sensible made provision for the heat. The 2 water points were adequately stocked with water, Enduren, savory and sweet snacks. There was a top up station 8km's to go at the top of Pezula. Just to be clear: we did the 75km in 5 hours, so we're mid-packers. There are areas to improve on. The enduro section was 80% uphill and stopped just before the only technical bit on the race. On the plus side, the routes were well-marked, the profile and ascent was accurate and the Mitchells at the end was cold. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  8. A few mates and I with our families had the privilege to stay in the GRTP cottage over Easter. What a blast! I've done some of the trails on previous weekends, but this time we had the whole Easter to indulge in what could only be described as Mountain Bike Nirvana. The new Mountain Mania blew my mind into smithereens. So much flow! Jungle Fever got almost as much airtime and Forest frenzy, Lunacy lane and Mad cows was mixed and matched throughout. The pump track was a hit with my 32 month old son and it was awesome to see how his skills progressed with just a few visits to the pump track. The house itself sleeps 8 with 3 bedrooms and a loft. The stoep and living areas are comfortable and you don't really miss the finer things like microwaves at all. The house runs on solar and gas and is towards the top end of jungle fever. It was awesome just to be able to drop into the trails whenever we felt like a quick ride. It will become an annual pilgrimage for sure. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro

  10. News just in is that the Greyton market was destroyed last night in service delivery protests. If anyone has more news on this please share. I am deeply saddened by this.

  13. Its a double-mesh filter. Hopefully you are not recycling dish washer / kitchen sink water as it contains too a high consecration of debris. My gardener cleans the double mesh weekly, and I am due to give the tank and pump a good pressure wash and rinse with a good degreaser. I'll do that when we receive the next bout of good rains. Then I can use stored rain water for this. Currently I am supplementing the grey water with rain water which does seem to help with the water quality. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  14. Pity. I would have loved to see how Quinny and Faf deal with the pressure. Lets hope our openers get some help with their footwork and shot selection. 20 years ago they would have done a short county stint to get some solid time in the middle, but sadly with the demands of IPL and the way the colpak deals are currently structured this is no longer an option. 15. Oak Valley has a kiddies track with small bridges and bumps. Its around 2km in length and has various options to make it a bit more interesting. There are some picnic tables around the track, so pack a picnic and make it a family day out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  16. I'm hoping that we'll be at around 200/4 when I wake up at around 5am. I don't see the night watchman lasting all that long tomorrow morning, but if he can face 20 or 30 balls, the shine will definitely be off that new ball. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  17. http://www.sport24.co.za/Rugby/sa-rugby-welcomes-new-global-rugby-calendar-20170316 A little bit of common sense, but I still think that there are too many sides playing Super Rugby to have a meaningful competition. I'd use the Currie Cup (or whatever they want to call the local competition) as a qualifier for the top 3 SA sides to play Super Rugby the following season, and ask NZ and Aus to do the same in their domestic competition. Add one Pacific side, one South American side and perhaps a wild card (4th side in each domestic competition play each other to get a wild card entry at a neutral venue or something).
  18. He was also the perfect decoy for being targeted by teams and fast bowlers in particular. Many a captain lost series against SA in focussing all their attention Smith, leaving other players to play with freedom and focus on their own games opposed to what the opposition was saying about them / media was getting up to.
  19. Now imagine if Graham Smith was still playing... boy did we kick some solid cricketers in the nuts in the past...
  20. As long as we keep on playing in finals, the title is ours. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  21. I ride those trails often out of events. They are magic! Reality is that to accommodate 5000 riders, you need somewhere you can spread the field over first half with big climbs and dirt roads (a-la K2C). Oak Valley / Paul Cluver will see 4500 walk the single track and 500 riding it. I would reduce numbers further to no more than 800 riders per distance and totally split the routes and venues, i.e. Do the 55km at Simonsberg, the 40km at TBMTB club, 30km at Paarl and the 15km at Spier. 22. Taking 5000 riders through Oak Valley / Paul Cluver 14 days before 1200 Epic riders go through there? And a month after the 24 hours and MTB series went through there? There will be nothing left to ride after that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  23. It will mean closure and financial ruin for all the charities that are beneficiaries of the CTCT Trust. My view would be a guaranteed entry and discounted entry fee would work well. It can then be planned for ito Trust distributions etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  24. The right call imo. Telling riders to judge whether its safe or not was not a clever call. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  25. Bit of a daft statement from CTCT to advise people not to start. The race is either safe to start or its not (and is shortened / cancelled). Its not like they'll do a part-refund if people decide not to start. Wind in March is not unusual, and should feature in their safety plan when safe numbers etc. is decided on in terms of entries allowed, start group sizes etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
