  1. Thankfully it was not too hot. I recall last year being in the high 30’s. The approach to 29km vs 58km differs greatly. The best advice I can give to youngsters and new comers at long stages is to ride 2 clicks below where you think you should, recover where you can, don’t waste energy and get involved with the shenanigans in the front bunches, be quick and efficient at water points and always have a good stretch after a stage. Oh, and enjoy the scenery and vibe. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  2. I started a fred as there was none so that we can chat about it. Surely that is allowed? [emoji6] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  3. Big shout out to Stillwater Sports and everyone that participated over the weekend. Here is my write-up of this year's short route. http://gluvsmtb.blogspot.co.za/

  5. At least we showed up. Even if the opponents are below par, you still need to put them away, which we did. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  6. I’ll be there! Its a small race raising funds for a great cause and with passionate and dedicated people involved. Keeping the numbers limited is awesome. It will add to the riding experience. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  7. Did you honestly expect the side to come from last weekend to this weekend and have the perfect game? I honestly thought that France would be way too good for us after watching last weekend. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  8. A much better performance by the Boks last night. Massive games by Marx, Vermeulen and Kitshoff was also a handful when he came on. Venter and Pollard combined well and if Pollard had a better game as place kicker, the scoreline would have been a better indicator as to who was the better side on the night. The backs got more ball than all the games combined this season and they showed glimpses of what could be going forward. There is a long road ahead for the team, but gutsy performances like last night will definitely help get the fans to back their side again. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  9. GRTP... just to balance out the focussed training on Montagu Pass yesterday [emoji16] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  10. Montagu pass. It’s been many years since I last went up this magnificent feat of engineering. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

  12. Hesitation leads to devastation. It is good to learn this principle of mountain biking early on. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  13. What a knock by David Miller?! 100* off 35 balls. Dropped on 0 as well... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

  16. We had a real blast. I love going to Eselfontein, and this weekend just reminded me why the next manne-naweek should be done post-haste. Thank you for not watering down the night ride. Proper single track and long enough to test you. Rewarding for those with good lights and that do night rides often. The timing guys had their hands full to record the numbers with lights shining in their eyes. I got "penalised" with a few minutes due to this (it doesn't really matter, just giving some feedback) Day 2 batch start was a must. I suggest a bigger gap than the 2 minutes given between batches. 10 minutes would be ideal Get a timing company involved (I know it costs $$$). It will allow for bigger gaps on the start batches. Many riders abused the figure 8 setups at the water points (i.e. crossing the same point on after a return loop) and took shortcuts. While I know and they know that they cheated and that it ultimately doesn't really matter, it would be cool if the results reflect the true standings more accurately. Again a timing company can assist in sorting this out by having chip readers on these outbound loops from the water points. I loved riding many of the loops in reverse. It puts a very different spin on the trail when you are used to riding it in a certain direction. There was some confusion at the top end on day 2 (just before the Eco huts) where the Enduro trail split with SRAM tape and pink tags opposed to orange tags. The route marker boards were pointing towards the Enduro route and almost created havoc. We opted to not take the left fork and go straight and fortunately made the right call. Did I miss the mention of the Enduro markings at the start? I don't recall a briefing for B batch mentioning this? Well done to all involved we thoroughly enjoyed the weekend.
  17. It was sublime! 278 looked competitive, but from ball 1 QdK and # were in control. I was ready to slate Phehlukwayo, Paterson and Duminy, but on reflection the wicket offered nothing for gentle medium pace or part time spin. Paarl should see a better contest between bat and ball on Wednesday. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

  20. If you drink this, it is all about the outcome opposed to the taste. If this is all you can afford or all you are after is a caffeine and sugar fix, it is ok. It is also ok to drink papsak opposed to a good bottle of red, but like you I will politely decline the papsak and the Ricoffee. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  21. Proteas off to a flying start. Centuries for both openers, a run rate of 4.6 runs per over and that after being sent in to bat by [emoji1042]... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  22. Agreed. I can imagine how tough the England tour was with the uncertainty in terms of the coach's future. Say what you like, but things like that always play a role. The new coach can now start to tick the boxes and identify the areas he need to work on with players and work out a plan for each player. I am sure that his approach differs greatly from Domingo's, so a 'soft' series at home will help a lot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  23. All done! SA wins with 333 runs. Lots of positives to take from this test and well done to the Tigers for taking the game into day 5. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  24. So glad I'm not an event organizer. Imagine getting a date that works for everyone [emoji6] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
