  1. my only concern on the cheaper items is the stuff they put in to allow it to be cheaper. Yes I know the supplement companies rip us off and lie a lot, but the more established companies use better/cleaner ingredients. But I also agree that we all overcomplicate things. I only use water on runs, but then I struggle to run for more than an hour

Thanks very much for the info, will try sort it out tonight.

Hi V12man, the wheels spins freely when not on the bike, does everything it should. When I put it on the bike, it seizes (does not turn if I tighten the Quick release as I do on my other hubs). I have to loosen it as much as possible without the wheel being loose on the frame. It then spins fine, but when I coast or back pedal the chain goes slack (the cassette does not spin backwards). They also feel pretty heavy when climbing and they are 800grams lighter than my other wheelset.

No one experience these issues before?

Forgot to add, when freewheeling downhill they roll well, as soon as there is load on the wheels they are heavy. Felt like I had cement in them on some climbs.
  6. Hi All, I bought a used wheelset with DT Swiss 240s hubs. The front is perfect but the rear has some issues. Off the bike it spins decently, nothing like the front. when I clamp it with the QR onto the bike it seizes up, I have to run it loose but fixed on the frame to have it spin well. Then when I freewheel the chain gets sucked back. I can return the wheels for a refund but I don't want to as I got them as such a good price. Any ideas on what this is? if its an easy fix or if I should take it to someone.
  7. 1) Specialized Propero 2) Specialized comp with Ratchet 3) Garmin 500, about R 1, 500.00 extra though(you will want another HRM/computer)
  8. I agree with the Aluminium frame and great components. unless you are buying a good carbon (Trek is my bike of choice - because that's what lance rides/rode ) it isn't really worth it in my opinion but everyone is different. Best advise is buy the bike that draws you to it with the best feel. This will make you want to ride it more(the only thing that will actually make you faster).
  9. A stronger/fitter core always makes a difference, my favourite is the bridge and toe ups. For the legs your best bet is step ups and walking lunges. if you ride mtb, strong shoulders and triceps help for a long days ride.
  10. My thinking is this, If you plan on buying a bike and not upgrading. I would go for the best components. If in the near future I was going to upgrade I would get a carbon frame with the best fork and wheels I could. Carbon is better for power transfer ect ect but only in quality built frames. At the end of the day its comfort and fit that is most important.
  11. Check his feeding habits, is he eating soon after exercise? Make sure he isn't eating too fast, this can cause big problems as well such as bloat. Try feeding his main meal in 3 smaller amounts soon after each other. Get a slow feeding bowl if you don't have one, it might save your dogs life.
  12. First time in my life that the calculation is right, but as soon as its my birthday again it will be wrong. I keep getting the same max time and time again on my ride, on the run I must double check but I have never reached my max strange enough, always 2-3 beats lower. It is usually the other way around and I feel a lot more comfortable at max on my bike than a few lower on the run. I only use a heart rate monitor for reference and how hard I trained, but during training I operate on how I feel.

Road there 3 weeks ago, no issues as far as I am concerned.
  14. https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/127933-repairing-cracked-carbon-frame/?do=findComment&comment=1976093 these are pics of the crack on the top tube. I was going to fix and build up the bike for fun but have decided to try fix up my race bike a bit more. If it doesn't go for anything worthwhile I will keep the frame and eventually build it up.
  15. The frame is still available, I have one offer that I am interested in. Need to take some detailed pics of the frame and load them up. The frame was cracked on the top tube due to being tightened too much onto a rack.
  16. From what I can see an undamaged frame like this is around the R 7k plus mark. What do you guys think. I really would like to know what people would think is reasonable for this. If you interested make me an offer(looking for some good 26" wheels).
  17. Hey Mr. Baker, To be honest I'm not sure what a fair price would be. I will look around and see.
  18. http://www.cyclingnews.com/features/photos/trek-worlds-sphere-widens-next-year/83956 It's a superfly 29" medium 17.5" The link is what it looks like
  19. Would also consider a swap for good 26" wheels
  20. Hi all, I have a 29" Gary Fisher frame that I am looking to sell if anyone would be interested. It has a crack on the top tube that I have been told is an easy fix. I was quoted R1200 for a full repair excluding paintwork. What would you think is a reasonable price be?
  21. Yes, but you are going to have to take it to another store to have everything checked and re-installed. They are terrible when it comes to servicing. Took my bike there once to have gears adjusted when I first started riding. When I got the bike back the crank was loose and they hadn't adjusted the gears.
  22. Wet Droe Wors and sometimes biltong as well. I also use one bottle of 32GI and a bottle of water for my long rides.
  23. I got nailed by a SAC spider about 3 months ago (I caught it), its better to take it easy for a bit,.. I carried on training and felt a bit ill after hard sessions. Just check with your antibiotics with training and the side effects.
  24. Its suppose to keep the chain tensioned so that it isn't loose by pulling back on the chain. Thanks Naas, maybe you should run a special on the wolf chainring, Shimano/SRAM cassette, General Lee adapter and the clutch derailleur at some stage so that we can do the conversion. I would need the chain and shifter as well as I am still on 9speed.
  25. I eat and drink well, but because I put my body under so much stress I do try and put as much back in as possible. A multi vitamin cannot hurt so if you want to use it. I take a vitamin c booster, I drink flaxseed oil and I have a shake everyday (loaded with vitamins and helps me drink my 500ml of milk everyday). I have not been sick in years and I vouch that it is because of using these items. This all costs me on average R 200 a month (excl. Milk).
