I did and that's why I said Robyn would probably be better suited to Wanderers (although everytime he has bowled lately he has been belted). Was just saying that if Tahir bowled and held at 4 it would still workout for us as he can absorb many overs.

And 4 an over on a flat track is not bad for an attacking spinner ala Tahir. He averages 3.5 an over so 4 is not terrible at all on a pitch like that.

Harris is not a change over bowler, he opens. Broad has also predominantly been Andersons counterpart with opening. Ajmal is a spinner and not considered a change over in my opinion (only quicks are change overs) Siddle is a good bowler, but in no way is a better bowler than Morkel (would be higher on the rankings if he had wickets to take - Steyn and Phillander take most of them before the change over) although he is better than Tsotsobe. Wanderers will be a green top but we need someone to bowl a lot of overs inbetween our 3 main guys and spinners do that best, maybe Robyn Peterson will do a better job.

I never said good, I said descent, Name one good change bowler in world cricket today. I think Morkel is probably the only good change bowler at the moment. As I said earlier as well, I prefer a full time spinner in a test, even if he isn't getting wickets and just holds at 4 an over then rotate the quicks you will only need 3 full time quicks and a part timer JP/Kallis. That way you have your 3 best bowling as often as possible without exhausting them.
  5. I hooted at a few different bunches on Saturday morning in the cradle. no-one in the cycle lane and riding 2 abreast in the road. I ride the cradle from time to time and just don't understand why tjops would ride outside the lanes.

Thami is in the team because he cried last year/early this year, also cried that he wasn't getting game time. McLaren & Parnell had opted to focus on their odi career. As for Lobsi not being a test bowler and not fit enough I disagree a bit there. he does make for a descent change bowler and the way we play our bowlers in test we don't need to have him bowl 6 - 8 overs straight like other teams. test is about putting the ball in a consistent spot and making the batsman play a bad shot, something he can do well. A very successful bowler who is not quick at all is Philander, consistent bowling with slight movements.

His form has been atrocious in the test arena. His ODI stats are not good either although he is a bit of a mixed bag here for me. T20 is his only area he is doing well.

    Cricket......

Pretty much how I see it, although JP would have to bowl a lot of overs without Tahir there. we definitely have to think about a full time spinner to soak up the overs on one side while the pace men attack from the other. So depending on the test drop Tsotsobe for Tahir.

    Cricket......

A lot of openers get brought into the squad at a number 6/7, this is due to the new ball at 80 overs. It also helps in not disrupting the current positions until he is up and running with the squad. India just did this with Rohit and it worked a treat, it wont be long till he is opening but for the mean time his team is consistent.

Maybe just drop Faf now and put him in at 5, keep Alviro and as he does generally soak up a few balls before Hash/Kallis come in. You not losing a fielder as AB will take Faf's place. Think the sooner we get de Kock in the better for his experience, it will help as we are the best side in the world as well and helps to blood youngsters into a very positive and strong team. He WILL be in the SA squad for many years so push him in now.

    Tubbies

For me I would trust the sealant more than I would trust a newly seated tubbie. You will/should see the sealant stop working/fail. You might not see the glue fail on the new tyre and they should sit for a while after being glued. I have recently started riding tubbies on the MTB and have yet to puncture so don't know how the sealant will work, will only put in once I get a puncture.
  12. Just get time to ride my bike, managed a whole 800km's this year. Need to do 3 towers.
  13. Van Gaalens is North West and I thinkg Mt Grace is Free State but could be wrong with that one

    Cricket......

The Indian pitches are flatter than a tarred road hence their big runs. We will see how they bat when they are here(although they chose the grounds that best suit them). The Paki's being school girls with the bat further exaggerates my comment that our bowlers did not perform. With the selection of domestic players, we cant have too many news guys in one team although we should try get a few guys in as options. Its always easier choosing a team when you behind a tv screen.

    Cricket......

That pitch in no way was a 300 plus pitch (if it were a 50 over game) Ab batted spectacularly or else we would not have got close to that score, that makes the bowling poor for them to get where they did. If Steyn had a poor game we would have gotten a proper hiding. Smith and Kallis are both returning from big gaps in ODI cricket, you cannot base 2 games on their performance and Kallis scored in one of the games. Besides, whom would you replace them with? Every opener or No.3 we have tried in the past 2 years have failed dismally apart from De Kock who should open with Amla.

    Cricket......

I believe our bowlers let us down yesterday. We have been sloppy in the fielding though as well. The aggression from our batsmen is lacking and we really can score big runs with the team at hand, maybe a slight reshuffle of the order is in need.

    Cricket......

I agree that De Kock should open, but unfortunately our selectors see things in a very narrow perspective and De Kock is not a No.3/4. It will be a cold day in hell when someone realises that Smith doesn't have to open. I rate him as a player and think that it is stupid to leave him out of any team, I would drop Faf before I dropped Smith. With Faf, as I said earlier he should take Millers place when he returns.

    Cricket......

I like the team today, A bit more well rounded but would prefer Smith to be 4/5 depending on the situation. I think that Miller will be dropped when Faf is back. We could also always use Quinton at number 6 to have an aggressive closer (something we have been sorely lacking).
  19. Be patient, I have seen some absolute bargains lately. I wouldn't go with too much travel for the type of riding you do(Giant trance and the likes will be pushing it), hell I do most of those rides and I am going rigid.

    Cricket......

You cant really compare averages or strike rates with a number 1 batsmen and a 3/4, Opening is a really difficult position and in general average a lot lower than your number 3/4. This goes in all formats of the game. Smith can even go down to 6th if the batting line-up is going well, look at Rohit Sharma who is an out and out opener who came in low for the Indians in the test and really played well. Kallis is a great player, I just think he is past his prime in ODI and should focus on his batting in the longer format. Levi is another option but never really showed much potential apart from one or two innings, Now Henry Davids on the other hand could be, but as Christie said earlier, you don't want too much chopping and changing. We need some uniformity, especially when swapping between the formats. 3 completely different teams does NOT work.
  22. DJ84

    Cricket......

I don't see how you could choose Kallis based on his bowling option over Smith, he barely bowls anymore and when he does it is not consistent like it used to be. At best he is going to bowl 5 overs and pick up a possible wicket, SA will bowl JP as a part timer 95% of the time before Kallis even on flat pitches. Look at the recent test where Kallis barely bowled or even battered for that matter. With Smith and batting slow, I think he went through some bad form previously, but apart from Quinton in this series he was the only opener to score and at a descent rate as well. With the new laws you will see a lot more slips I think, and with the world cup down under the ball does tend to go down that channel more than in the sub continent. My Team Q De kock H Amla G Smith AB De Villiers JP Duminy Faf Du Plessis R McLaren D Steyn M Morkel L Tsotsobe I Tahir David Miller as spare batsman Phillander Bowler Parnel to come in for Mclaren specifically

    Cricket......

RSA has to be a bit imaginative sometimes, we are short quality slip players with both Smith and Kallis out. I would have Smith back in the team and either be a number 3 or 4, both Faf and JP struggle up the order. As for Philander, he is likely to get pumped against a good batting line-up on a half decent pitch. Thing about ODI's with bowling is you need variety, if they settle into a bowler, another similar bowler will receive the same punishment.
  24. Most of them are damn good, my wife has been to a few and all came to the same or very similar conclusion. I will try find out who they were as it was 8 years ago.
