  1. Thanks, you just made me more indecisive 🤣 Biggest issue is that this would be my first venture into the "dirt" world on a motorbike, so I have zero experience to work off other than knowing I like long mountain bike rides into the sunset with a liberal sprinkling of tech and flow trails and that a good solo 24hr MTB event is a weekend well spent.
  2. The intention would be as a play bike and a bike to turn to when the Harley is in for a service, or the roads are a mess with rain. The Fat Bob deserves a kinder hand vs being hammered through another winter. My other option is a 2010 Tenere XT660Z that will become available end of May (Hopefully not much later than this) from my neighbour who works offshore ... as in legitimate offshore :P. Just that I am a little impatient now, and the KTM's always look to be more "performance based" against the Tenere.
  3. Link attempt no. 2 https://wilddog.net.za/threads/2006-ktm-640-adv-price-drop.277019/
  4. Thanks for the feedback. Bike No. 1 with the single front disk did have the front fender mod. Bike No. 2 has the std. fender, but overall body work is really good. Mechanically, the following has happened recently as per this long thread.
  5. I looked and found a manufacturer date and noted 2004. 2004 showed dual discs up front and the fork had the caliper Mount, so it tells me the one brake was removed at some point. Did the math of what it would cost to get the bike right and it comes in a little more than the much better condition one I am wanting to look at over the weekend
  6. Got really close to putting in an offer on a KTM 640 today, but after running the numbers and spend too much time scrutinising the pics I took of the bike, the final straw was when I asked why the bike only had one front rotor and yet there was a mounting to allow for 2 x brake calipers. The response was they came like this and the supermoto builds get the dual brakes. Google spec sheets, and pics of other 640's say otherwise. The long slow search continues then....and may end this weekend with another 640 I have lined up to look at
  7. I have been using the NoNoise and it makes a real difference RE wind/road noise.

  10. If any of you are in CT, please do consider giving the Rider Table https://www.instagram.com/riderstable/ a spin. The rides are usually the second or last weekend of the month, well organised, great vide, zero attitude, a big mix of bikes and people ..... all in good time. They also have a couple of photographers who take pics before, during (Convertible media car) and after the event again. This crew take great high res pics and circulate this for free (if you register for the ride, also free) for you to download. Group sizes are decent, though this past weekend the group was only around 55 bikes .... I assume this was due to Harley Burn this weekend and that the route was a longer one leaving CT-Franschhoek, over to Elgin and Grabouw, then round Kleinmond and Rooil Els back to CT again. Pic shown here was taken by Sam https://www.instagram.com/tonfitiina?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet&igsh=ZDNlZDc0MzIxNw== on the Woodstock Bridge over the N1 leaving town.
  11. I was in peak hour traffic this morning, shimmied my way to the front of the jamb … then waited … figured I wanted to move the rear wheel over slightly, like you would on a bicycle .. I am locked the front brake, shifted my weight forward and flicked my hips … well the motorbike did not move. Turns out the Harley is a little heavier than my commuter bicycle
  12. This pair may also tick the boxes you require at a lower price point https://www.takealot.com/anker-soundcore-a20i-true-wireless-earbuds/PLID94060694 EDIT: They are also IPX5, so even better given you are intending sweating away on a stationary bike.
  13. Been forwards and backwards with a few options over the last year or two. Started with the R500 ranges (Volcano, etc) and they are fine, but long term did not last. Moved up to a set of JBL Flex Waves (Nice 12mm driver with good battery life) that were fine, I just had issues where it lost connection with the Laptop intermittently. On my android devices it was rock solid. The JBL app is rather decent to fine tune the sound experience. These got me more into the JBL eco system and bought a pair of over ear JBL NC 770's that have been really good. I work with these between 10-14 hours a day and the battery lasts 50hrs ... noise cancelling (NC) is so good that I am now calling it the WNC (Wife Noise Cancelling) headphones. So I tried out another set of JBL in ears (to replace the Flex Waves that I sent back) something or other Beams ... now this cost more than the previous set of JBL in ears, so I made a spur of the moment purchase decision thinking it would be better. It certainly was more comfortable with a more secure fit, BUT the sound sucks, even after fiddling with the app. If I did a bit of research I would have seen that the Beams only have a 8mm driver. These were donated to my eldest. Looked around a bit after this, and more and more got pulled towards the Anker Soundcore range. My final decision was on a set of Liberty 4NC (They were on sale for R1700.00 when I purchased them). https://www.takealot.com/anker-soundcore-liberty-4-nc-wireless-noise-cancelling-earbuds/PLID93971840 The Liberty 4NC have a 1mm driver, an assortment of silicone tips to fine tune the fit, which is essential to get a good seal. What is really brilliant though is the app it comes with. You first do a test where it checks for the seal of the earphones in your ears (Using it's one built in mics) and then you run through a custom equalizer where you select "A" or "B" type sounds as if you were at the optomotrist. The end result is a really good sounding in ear sound, good custom setup of the touch of the buds, they sit tight in your ears no matter how much jumping around you do, the noise cancelling is really good, and the list goes on. Stand out features multi point connectivity 10hrs play time with a total of 50hrs inc. the case ANC 2.0 Hi Res LDAC IPX4 water resistant ... so essentially sweat can be wirelessly charged "find my bus" if lost I speak under correction, but it is Bluetooth 5.3 After owning these I am seriously impressed and would be looking to a high end over ear with NC in the future if the JBL NC 770's do not last the test of time.
  14. It almost comes to the point where a seller has to take a comprehensive set of pics at the time of boxing and shipping?
  15. what a sad story
  16. flip, loved that game ... going to have to give it a spin again.
  17. I went to the "Things of Beauty" show in Stellies this morning, and as part of the Harley Haven SA group ... we must have been at least 60 bikes, and I should have taken more pics. Some great bikes around and a good many awesome cars ... overall a rather good event..
  18. Kaz Hawkins is really growing on me in a big way.
