  1. all those graphs and charts are about as exciting as a gravel mtb ride / race with the DSTV (Supersport) commentators next thing you are going to say this 150mm travel bike also needs to be fitted with semi slick race tyres at max. 2.1" widths and pressures that would impress a roadie from the 90's on a narrow roadie tyred bike....(though research does however note a larger volume tyre is more efficient off road.)
  2. Dude .... this is not an XCO bike, this rolls with a 150mm travel fork ... expect this bike to be fun and to rock around corners, over obstacles and be a little ripper, not a gravel travel speed machine.
  3. That is such a nice road to ride on a bike, except for loose gravel in places. Always ride well within the speed limit here especially for the gravel, sand and other debris from the local quarries to be found here..
  4. She is a sprinter, girl can move faster than those sport bikes and def. faster than you going downhill with the wind on your back old man :P
  5. How dare you assume my dogs gender .... it is a "she" .. no dangle bits No screen or luggage for your viewing pleasure
  6. Tsek at least both the dog and the bike are both black and white
  7. I may have witnessed a few of those exchange students along that route.
  8. This is my dog Harley This is my Harley
  9. I get you. If he did not witness anything he can not state anything. Had my own challenges on the road this morning in P/Island. Coming back from buying 2kg of the best coffee in Cape Town (Deluxe), traffic is at a standstill and I legally lane split at a slow speed. Some dude in a car decides that this is not acceptable and as I pass him he veers into my direction ... thanks to many years of commuting on a bicycle through traffic I managed to read this and respond. He then goes on a tangent about how I am supposed to wait in traffic, blah blah blah ... kept my cool and laughed and carried on while I am waiting to turn right into traffic he pushes in next to me and starts going mental. Then he tries to cut me off as I turn and tail gates me ... managed to get away again through slow traffic after letting him know my mindset. What is my rant about, people ... people are the issue.
  10. You note you were 1 or 2 minutes back, you witnessed the bikes speeding and riding recklessly, you did not however witness the collision. How they were riding at the time of the collision is critical, how they were riding leading up to the collision is only setting the precedent of how they were riding.
  11. with this mindset you may as well stay at home for the rest of your life.
  12. 100%, that is why I am saying if you are able to control yourself and not become another collision statistic by behaving yourself on the road, no matter what the choice of vehicle then all would be good. Yes, personal responsibility, consideration and tolerance for other people is something that is clearly lacking in our society.
  13. no matter what "we" believe to be allowable vehicles on the road, one of the two, or maybe even both parties in this collision would be at fault for his/their actions. note I do not say an accident, as this would not be an accident unless there was a mechanical fault to either the bicycle of the motorbike.
  14. 1. You would be amazed at some of the sh!t I have seen on the roads over the years 2. Good that you know your limits of control on the roads, maybe those who can control themselves can then purchase the bike or car that they want
  15. Wind noise Ouzo, wind noise is why I use earplugs (I am not sure what "earlugs" are, but they sound scary). I don't care what other people do with their Harleys, mine is not noisy
  16. 120kph on the highway and you're still in 3rd gear. Big, powerful machines that only come alive at 180kph to drive on roads with a max speed limit two thirds of that. A person can ride a high powered sports bike on the road and not break the law. That same bike could be taken to the track on the weekends for sports racing. Why should we dictate what another person decides to purchase and enjoy, as long as they are safe on the roads. Roads are a serviceway for people to get to and from work and for goods and services to be provided. They should be regulated as such. Roads are a way for people to travel and explore. Humans and animals have been creating their own paths since they have roamed earth. The only regulations that should be in place are those that keep people safe. Having vehicles on the road that can easily violate traffic laws and giving them to idiots who only learn when the fan has already been soiled? Then ban shoes too, as may a pedestrian has illegally j-walked and caused an accident, or walked on the roads while intoxicated and caused accidents. The motor industry and government need to figure out what it is they want. These superbikes belong on the track, not the roads. As per above, they can travel anywhere. You can take this same mindset and say that cyclists may only ride heavy steel framed single speed bicycles with commuter geometry as those on light weight bicycles are riding too fast and pushing the boundaries on the roads. Not much of an argument here, both versions are not really thought through Keep your Harleys and other big loud vehicles as well. A V8 roadster and a Harley pulling up in residential areas is deafening, amazingly inconsiderate and pointless. My Harley is not noisy.
  17. I rarely venture in the darkness that is twitter anymore ... it is scary how narrow minded and just plain insensitive users can be to everything around them.
  18. The problem is not the means of transport, the problem is the chop operating the vehicle ... be it skateboard, bicycle, motorbike, car or truck. The whole them vs us argument from all parties need to stop, and it should be more a mindset of responsible human beings vs those who disregard the safety of others.
  19. I am not saying you should look at this, but I am not saying you should not either. +- 41000km on the clock, 2012, 30th Anniversary Edition. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/771166251536666/?referralSurface=messenger_lightspeed_banner&referralCode=messenger_banner
