  1. Sjoe! Very naaaais! As it stands now you should be fine for gaming. Overkill even. I wouldn't bother with an i9 just for gaming. The 7740x has plenty of headroom. Even if you're gaming at 4k. If the build is primarily for gaming. I would consider future upgrades more along the lines of a dual gpu setup instead of upping the cpu. Like two 1080's or something. For gaming. Your money will be better spent on a killer SLI config on that platform. You wont see much performance boost in games moving from an i7 to an i9. Most games don't take advantage of all those cores. But you will see a massive improvement with two gpu's. The i9 also runs absurdly hot. So the h100 you have now wont cut it under load. It will keep up but barely. You really want a fat 360mm rad to cool that puppy down. Or a custom loop.
  2. I'm not sure who else here plays PUBG. But if you do pm me if you want to squad up with us. Been playing the new map with all its new features on the test server. While its still riddled with bugs they are minor enough to overlook for now. Most of the bigger issues have been fixed. The official release for the complete version 1.0 is set for December 20th. That's a week from now. Its been almost 9 months since the first test version. And now. 20 million sales later. It has officially outsold the sum of every COD and GTA game ever made. That's massive. At any given time of the day. There are an estimated 2 million people playing concurrently. That's more than the amount of people playing DOTA. It continues to break its own records and you have to wonder when its momentum will slow down. Especially considering that this all happened before it was even officially released. I personally can't stop playing it. Every. Single. Day. It may sound like a bold statement. But PUBG is without a doubt the most fun game I have ever played. Hands down. It is completely unpredictable. Which I think is the key behind its success. I mean I have had a few uneventful rounds sure. But for the most part. No game has ever had such a real effect on me physically. Ask anyone. Ones elevated heart rate is this amusing little inside joke between those who play the game. We're all nervous. And its probably why everyone keeps coming back.
  3. Dropped the same into the pc i built this year. What you running? Would be keen to see the difference in value. I built mine before Ryzen's release. Because I just couldn't wait. Ryzen's release shook up the market quite a bit. Forcing Intel to compete with better prices. At the time I was comparing international pricing and had I lived in europe or the states I would have paid up to 40% less. If you buy an 1800x today on takealot. It will cost you R12,000 for the chip alone. If you buy it on amazon you would pay half that.
  4. She can take it. Caught that hussy spooning with Snake Eyes from GI Joe and a couple minions in the toybox.
  5. A couple weeks back my 5 year old daughter took my 3 year old son's giant Hulk action figure. She decided it was about time Hulk settled down with Barbie and we were all invited to the wedding. Of course my son ruined the ceremony. Out of his mind upset. Cried snot and traane because he sure as hell wasn't going to stand for Hulk marrying that slut.
  6. Just about lost my mind when the trailer dropped yesterday. Infinite Wars will officially be the biggest collection of superheroes in a motion picture ever. Fox might as well throw in the towel like Sony did with Spiderman. Well kinda... The MCU is going to make a killing.
  7. You'll be surprised my bru. It was hard for me to wrap my head around it too but there are lots of factors which contribute to its competitive price point. An optimized console with custom hardware that maximizes efficiency. Think about it like this. If you were to set out and cherry pick parts for a 4k 60fps gaming pc. You'd choose hardware thats going to crap all over the system requirements of any game. Most of us will jump straight into dual gpu solution with a board, chip and ram which supports overclocking. Then overkill cooling solutions to keep thermals in check not to mention a wopper of a psu for enough headroom. This thought process. While effective at achieving the end result is ridiculously expensive and means lots of wastage. Because you're bound by the existing template that is building a pc. The case and all the bits inside it have to fit together. So if I build it. I need to adhere to certain restrictions to make it all work and this inevitably costs more because its 20 different parts from 10 different companies. Every part you buy when assembling this pc. Not only needs to work with everything else you buy. But also with anything else you might want to add or change down the line. Kinda like building up a bike vs buying a similar specked one off the floor. We've seen evidence of this move towards efficiency form factor gaming pc's in the last few years. Machines purposely built for gaming and readily sold off the shelf with custom cooling solutions, custom cases and custom psu's. This helps mitigate some of the cost. But most of these are still overpriced. Especially considering their limitations regarding upgrading. They are computers after all. Now we have Microsoft. With all their buying power. Approach AMD. The undisputed king of bang for buck tech products. And together they design something which only has to adhere to a single ecosystem. So every part is specifically design with this in mind and then mass produced. The cooling solution for example is a single heatsink and fan for both the CPU and GPU. Despite this it still maxes out at 70 degrees with tolerable acoustics. It also has a pretty nifty optimized psu. Only 245 watts. Try building a gaming pc with a 300w psu. Least of all a 4k one. Previously consoles sucked because they were just watered down versions of existing computer hardware. But once R&D is focused on optimization instead of compatibility. The results speak for themselves. Watch the video and you'll re-consider your assumptions about visual fidelity at that price point. https://youtu.be/Gci-KI-RRbg
  8. We're actually finally at a point where trying to choose between a console and a gaming pc isn't as easy as it use to be. Maybe a year or two back Gaming PC's offered far better value in terms of performance to price. But the Xbox one X is going to change that. For the proposed price of $500 and the promise of native 4k gaming at 60 fps I might just buy one. Try building a gaming pc that can push out 60fps in 4k for under $500.
  9. Great choice. I cheaped out on the red dragon vara. Which isn't bad at all. Nice weight. Rubber feet. and no flex at all. I'm pretty sure MSI and red dragon are sister companies. Many of the products are similar if not identical. Love the pronounced tactile feel of the vara but the keys are super loud. So loud that if I game late at night while the wife is trying to sleep she tells me to shut my door. And our bedroom is a good 10-15 metres away from my office. They're not genuine cherry mx switches so I assume they're in house mech switches to meet a price point. It should be said though that I had mine now for a few months and one of the lights on my keys have gone out. No biggie. Still under warranty so would probably send it back before it expires.
  10. The carcasses were sprayed once fitted. Doors and exposed panels were the only ones that had to be done individually since they were done in this outydse paint effect by brush. Once everything is assembled. Its sprayed/painted with a resin sealent. I highly recommend this route for anyone on a budget wanting to avoid melamine. In my experience melamine just don't belong in kitchens. Especially if they rest directly on the floor. Whatever you do. Make sure you build a box type base for the carcasses to rest on. Then tile those boxes. It should go without saying but lots of contractors out there still need to be told. Melamine tends to soak up moisture from mopping, leaking pipes inside your sink area and of course the tops tend to bubble, crack and fade from all the surface cleaning agents. I opted for a white paint effect because it best matched the Caesar stone I chose. The grey was cheapest. Took this a couple days ago. Co-incidentally the guy who painted it asked for some pics to add to his portfolio. The floating shelf you see is actually a construction site scaffold plank I had planed and cut and drilled. Actually used three of them in my kitchen. Mounted it to the wall using the steel pegs they use in the foundation trench brickwork. It also helps that its resting on the splashback tiles which are quite thick
  11. I hate explaining such things over type. Its hard for me. From what I gather you have multiple images in multiple resolutions and aspect ratios. They also have silly white borders that you don't want. So you want to crop every image and scale cropped image to a particular format without losing the aspect ratio. If you have any hopes of automating batches in photoshop. You have to sort your files. In mac just use the finder in list view. (detailed view for windows) You'll have to add the criterior (image width etc) since its not there to begin with. Once you've done that, sort them in that folder. Then move images with identical resolutions to a new and different folder respectively if that makes sense. So that you have one folder with all the 1024x768 images and another folder for the 1080p ones and so on and so forth. Then open one of the files in photoshop. Under that actions tab add a new action. Call it what ever ('crop' makes sense) and crop your image. Then stop the action it just recorded and close your file without saving. Now you have the photoshop app open with no files. Go to file, select automate and then batch. The 'crop' action you recorded earlier should be listed on top. Make sure its selected and check the other boxes like output folder etc before starting. Then let photoshop do its thing. Since we talking 400 images I would split up the process in batches. Unless you're running threadripper with **** loads of fast ram. Or the app will freeze. If you need to do more than crop. You could automate multiple actions that were previously recorded with the first file you opened. But again. This all hinges on your file sorting. Try and do that first before we talk about scaling. The rule of thumb is that you can scale down indefinitely without loss of fidelity. But scaling up is limited depending on your source image. There are several ways in which photoshop handles upscaling to minimize loss of fidelity. None of them are full proof and I try to avoid it all together. I would sooner re-shoot a source images at a decent ppi to start with because upscaling is just such a *** way to work. Its a compromise that makes me cringe. However, since your images are for a website you really don't need it to be that high. 72ppi for web is quite fine. In fact its preferred for web use to minimize file size and by extension: website loading times. Good luck
  12. It was the first hunger games, last man standing, type concept I ever played. Developers are on to something here. And I think we going to see many clones. At some point. Someone is gonna beat PUNG at its own game. But not right now. It just feels like we should have had battle royale shooters a decade ago. The die and respawn shooters will always have a place in my heart. If I die? No biggy, I'll respawn in a few seconds and join the same battle. But with this battle royale style play however. I've never had to think strategy as carefully as I do now. Self preservation gets the attention it deserves. If I die. My game is over. Engaging in combat is just that much more thrilling since there's so much at stake. Kills are almost euphoric let alone satisfying. And even if I die. I stick around to spectate to see how it will unfold. I've never felt compelled to do that in any game before.
  13. I played Fortnite. It just doesn't compare. The cartoony Ben10 style visuals are a little discouraging if you are old enough to shave. The mechanics of the game itself also echos this juvenile style they went for. Things like bullet drop, recoil, gravity and hit response are somewhere between badly simulated and non existent. PUBG. As buggy as it is, ,focuses greatly on 'simulating a sense of realism' Especially sound. The first time I saw the game I wasn't too interested. It just didn't appeal to me after playing Battlefield's frostbite engine. There's just no eye candy. But you quickly realize that gorgeous graphics could take a backseat if the gameplay is good enough. And man is it good. Imagine the amount of code required to properly simulate what an automatic rifle sounds like 300 metres west of your location and being able to differentiate that from a suppressed automatic rifle 100 metres south west of your location. Its attention to detail like that you learn to appreciate as you continue to play. I mean. I can hear if the guy upstairs is wearing shoes or not. Seriously. They aren't the first to incorporate sound and the importance thereof to such a degree. But for a pre-release they pretty much nailed it. Lots of things they need to iron out especially on the visual side of things. But the gameplay is refreshing to say the least.
  14. Don't. I'm literally losing sleep because of it. I didn't even go for a morning ride on Sunday. Was up late with mates trying to get that f'n chicken dinner. Slept till 11am on sunday morning and went for an afternoon ride instead (Shame!) If you do go against your better judgement and decide to get it anyways. You will save half the proposed asking price once its officially released sometime this quarter. $30 dollars now for early access as apposed to $60 dollars when its released. The game is buggy as hell and far from a polished product. But it is without a doubt the most fun shooter I played to date.
  15. 20 hours in and STILL no chicken dinner. Made it last 2 once (squads) and often reach top 10. I probably only have like 10 kills to my name but I keep coming back for more. Why is this game so addictive?
  16. I'll chat to you on whatsapp later. Might have something for a swop.
  17. Yoh! 1.35kg compared to 835 grams for the 2.35 trailstar. Looks like the addix are colour coded though. Not sure what difference that makes to weight. So the purple 2.6 are probably the super gravity ones. http://reviews.mtbr.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/Schwalbe-Addix-Tire-Color.jpg
  18. Probably purely intended for pointing down. I assume they quite heavy. But man do they look dope. Saw some pics of em on a Demo.
  19. Officially hooked on PUBG. Played till 1am last nite and made it to the final 3. Closest I got to a chicken dinner yet. Learning the map really counts in your favour and the strategies you have to play is unlike any game I've played before. I didn't realize how quickly I got stuck in a comfort zone in other games. I love how the entire ranking up system prevalent in so many other shooters is just abandoned completely. Everyone starts off with nothing. Always. Some real hunger games type ****. The game is still buggy as hell though and far more resource hungry than it should be.
  20. Beat me to it... Wait that came out wrong... I mean...
  21. Haha. You're right. I remember that now. There were actually 3 weddings that weekend and I remember telling the wife. Who the hell gets married on public holidays anyways? It was a lekker weekend actually despite all the hustle. Sunday the 24th I managed to squeeze in a surf just before sunset.
  22. Tokai. Sunday 24th September. I had a wedding to attend that morning. Which as it turned out, would take a chunk out of my afternoon as well. A bit of rain was predicted that day. But it turned out to be an overcast morning followed by some midday sunshine. So much for the rain...I remember thinking. When we left the wedding some family tagged along back to our place. It wasn't long before a few sugared up toddlers would start impressing each other with some domestic parkour, which I may have been partaking in for a short while. This meant that the tea and trivial banter happening in the kitchen would be interrupted but at least everyone was entertained. I had to get outta there. It was about 2 pm. Tokai closes at 5...mmh, might as well smash out a quicky. There was some early talk in the groups about who was gonna ride where and it seems I missed out on most of the morning fun. But I don't mind riding alone. As a courtesy I left a message in the group anyways in case anyone wanted to join. By the time I checked my fone again I was already at Tokai. At which point I saw a response. Eddy was keen to join. His road ride was a bit uneventful that morning. Wait for me he said. **** that Eddy. I got the big bike. I need as much of a head start as I can get. I was just gonna head up to DH3 and session the jumps anyways. I'll see you up there. As I set off it started to drizzle. I could pedal to the old parking area. But at the foot of the first jeep track I would need to start pushing. At which point some proper rain started falling. Thunder too. This is gonna be good I thought. Moist grippy terrain. Then halfway through my slog up there the wind started howling. The rain went sideways quickly and I could feel the hail rattling on my lid. Two riders would pass me on my way up. They would also pass me again a few minutes later. They decided to head back down since the weather wasn't playing nice. It was bad. I was soaked. And the wind cut right though me and my wet clothes. But I soldiered on. The phone rang just as I reached the top of the first jeep. It was Eddy. While I was talking to him I noticed that the weather had actually cleared up nicely. Stiek uit my bru. I'll wait here. I need a breather anyways. That bike weighs 17kg. I had a red velvet cupcake in my backpack that I didn't have to share it with Eddy. A stump to sit on, and quite a view to take in...
  23. I didn't know there were sequels but I looked em up and here's a scene showing a young Bruce Lee approaching Ip Man for training. The comments are gold! https://youtu.be/OOdPR-xoVIY and yes I've seen The Grandmaster. One of a handful of newer kung fu movies I loved watching. Are you a fan of the oldies? The Wu Tang collection channel is still quite active. Full movies are published almost daily. Most of the titles are pretty bad but there are some proper classics in there too. I only ask because you reminded me of one of my old favourites. 7 Grandmasters. Its from the 70s. The golden age of Kung Fu flicks.
  24. Have you seen the previous Ip Man movie? I think his son was in it.
