  1. Get comfortable shoes.
  2. Anybody that got more than a pat on the back should be happy! I say so what if this kid is getting serious bling, I agree that there is a vague correlation between the parents' money and a lack of attention / proper upbringing , but these arent related. Us bitching about getting a stupid 50cc or surfboard is radical compared to nations where kids get to starve for their 12th birthday. All relative. For the records I got a Spur lunch for my 16th. Sorry for the rant, but I caught a glimpse of this Super sweet 16 on MTV the other day and really got me pi$$ed off. Rant off. Enjoy the day.
  3. Skies ek gaan sommer in engels - I would love to agree, but the fact remains its a LOT cheaper in some instances to use international online stores. But as Im not in the industry I must ask the question whether the local stores are just adding their reasonable margin or are they attempting to exploit the locals due to increased demand over the last couple of years...?
  4. Sonic Link works very well. 1. Make sure no firewall issues at work, I do it at home with 3G 2. Plug any earphone (I use iPod earphones) into MIC socket, not earphone socket, did that a couple of times 3. Hold watch in hand along with earpiece 4. Click listen on application 5. Click send on watch 6. Bobs ur uncle!
  5. Well responded from chuck, I was asked this question over the weekend as well and when answering realized something else - fitness. Sounds obvious but the fitter you are the faster you can climb and the faster you ride the more stable you are and more momentum you have for getting over obsticles. Check the hill as you approach and decide on one of the two tactics, longer tech hills, grind up and stay out of the red, short hills it might be worthwhile to blast up them. My 2c.
  6. What bad luck for those robbers, they wake up thinking they're going to rob some old toppie today and they walk into a 7dan 'ninja'. Haha. Brilliant, kick their asses.
  7. Awesome.
  8. Since I've heard about them, I cant sleep. My baby girl is 8months now and I cant imagine what I would do. If you hear of anything we can do to help, please let me know.
  9. Thug, any news on her recovery?
  10. Facebook, News24, other news...and ironically we did get a memo at work. http://www.nickvanderleek.com/2010/05/wear-pink-for-marzanne-on-12052010-one.html
  11. If you show it to everyone now and again...sure.
  12. All you guys bitching and moaning, let me ask this....how many of you are wearing pink today?
  13. This is such a difficult subject - For the individual - your chances of escaping a mugging unharmed is 10x better if you pose no resistance and just do what they say. Its only worldly possessions, imagine the police knock on your door after your wife went riding and she was killed while trying to resist... But on the community - By not posing any resistance we are creating a comfortable environment for the muggers. There is almost no risk for them to take your belongings and put you in harms way. This will only become worse until the risk becomes too large for them. I really dont know what to do...what I will not do is rant on about leaving, this is my country too and Im staying!!!
  14. Hahaha, brilliant! Thx for that.
  15. Take a week, go riding without a HR monitor, OROS in your water bottle, and without the Oakley shades, and go ride like a kid - bunnyhop, ride down stairs, up curbs, etc - just go nuts. Two reasons, 1. A easy way to get comfy on the bike and helps with those little skills you'll need. 2. You'll realise why so many people ride mountain bike, and what we've all forgotten since we were 10, just the joy of riding a bike.
  16. Word I just got back - Damian doing better, kindey and lung function up, will be ready for operations tomorrow.
  17. Spoke to some of his friends yesterday when I heard the sad news. Lets all hope he recovers soon!
  18. you must look like a stick. I'm 1.8 and between 77 and 78 and I think I'm starting to get to the too thin side. Already had to buy a whole new wardrobe after dropping from 85kg since the beginning of the year. Ja pretty skinny, but not falling through my own butt. Started 2009 at 90kg, started 2010 at 78kg. Cycling is awesome!
  19. Ironically Im 1.86m and weigh exactly 77kg. What are you saying?
  20. Ek het ook een keer die maan vergeet, maar ek het 'n paar biere in gehad...
  21. Jip, OKO, Rad006 verkoop dit. Dik groen mengsel, met baie fibers en korrels in, werk soos 'n bom!!
  22. I wish there is an (easily-available) comprehensive document around that explains the complete assembly of a bike, for the exact reason you stated, to understand the whole, understand the parts. should be something around. Details on Wikipedia very limited though.
  23. Relatively flat, three small bumps in the middle of the route, starts with long single track (bit of congestion), widens out, small hills, rutted downhills (watch out!) and single track/jeep track combo to the end (much fun). Good route in general. PS just placed my order with CRC, can wait for my new wheels!!!!!
  24. Jip, will be doing the 75 as well. Strange distances this year. If its a tough race they normally have a 75 and a 45, with a 60 and 30 for easier races, but here either you have to kill yourself at the 75, or not get your HR up at the 30. Either way looking forward, did the 60km last year and this is where i had my first real wipeout.
