  1. Good luck to everyone taking part, and remember its not just the winner that's the winner, any loser is a winner...makes sense?
  2. Whiskers for president! Shout if there is anything u need help with!
  3. I know what he's on about. Some of the short races a few of my buddies kick my ass, I dont have the leg power (yet!! wooohahahaha) but I have the endurance/base so when we do longer rides, +60/70km on the mtb then they cant keep up. He noticed his lack of legs strength when doing shorter rides, masked by good endurance on the longer ones, makes sense or am I chopping trees with a baseball bat?
  4. No worries. Im glad if helps.
  5. Its just a way of tracking your kCal balance on a daily basis to make sure that you will reach your target weight within your target period. If you have the dicipline to follow it you WILL loose weight, you just take the uncertainty out of the equation...you still got to get down and do the work though.
  6. Very good advice! Started doing some road training rides with the okes and the intensity is just so different, helps with leg power. On some of the mtb rides I force myself to 'spin' less. One way not mentioned is momentum, makes a huge difference maintaining your momentum better through a race, adds a lot to avg speed.
  7. Take BMI for what it is, a GUIDE. Differs extremely depending on body type, gender, etc. Has its uses, but not a fixed rule!
  8. No worries just pm me your email ad and will do... anyone else?
  9. Everyone has their view so I'll quickly add mine - 1. Weight loss is difficult no matter what the magazines tell you 2. 90% of weight loss is due to a calorie deficit in your body where it then breaks down fat to refill your glycogen stores 3. 10% of weight loss can be achieved by other nitty gritty things such as metabolism, etc etc. Anyone interested I did a basic kCal balance sheet for a hubber last year, I dont mind forwarding it.
  10. No for sure, not really comparible, my view when I started cycling was just always when a bloke is next to the road (or dirt for that matter) you stop and check, regardless of the issue.
  11. Always an issue, cuz new people arrive on the hub, you discover you have problems now that other people struggled with last year. What I always do, do a basic search and if nothing is aparent start a new thread, and if really needed I'll link in the old thread.
  12. Wow dude, you're almost a year late with your comment...when you got something to say you got something to say I guess...hahaha
  13. Sadly not hey, at Midrand Meander mtb I was doing ok, but punctured 6km from the end, I walked 3km with bikes whizzing by before some old oompie stopped and offered a tube.
  14. 42 Deg at Hill2Hill last year, was stupid.
  15. Damn if it weren't for this comment I'd have my hand up in a jiffy - "...that will benefit most will probably be youngsters with no work or good source of income. Develop them with assistence..." Would love to ride with a good team, but some young okies could use this a lot better! (That said I doubt I'd be able to keep up, hahaha) Best of luck!
  16. Happened three times this weekend, left cleat loosened just enough so it rotates in the pedal. First two times thought it was the dirt and mud and cleaned it and hopped on. By the third time i figured something else is going on. Some scarring...mostly ego.
  17. I 'overslept' and missed the cut again hu?? damn
  18. Im sure on day2 we'll be glad about the seeding that came from the TT.
  19. Well they say the bridge will be compulsory, dont believe there will be a chicken run. If its a standard floating bridge COOL, but in my mind Im concerned with what they mean by "making it less stable".
  20. Wow Dirt-Rider thanks for your unique and constructive contribution, I've not seen a comment like that on the Hub before. Im fine riding a floating bridge - my query is - Why purpose fully make it unstable?
  21. Ready for the Sabie Experience and very amped, but came across this on the website - "The highlight of the Prologue again should be a 100m "floating bridge" across Lake Olaf, about 2km from the start. In 2009 the bridge was too stable, and the course builders have a few ideas to provide the media and spectators with opportunities to see a few riders swimming with their bikes! Riders have definitely had enough time to practice this skill, so this year it will be compulsory for Experience riders to ride the bridge!" Im looking forward to all the technical challenges of this race, the climbs, the singletracks....and yes even the MUD! But why make a bridge LESS stable for the media's sake? This means that you get to drown your bike completely before 4 days of mud...? You're already at war with the elements trying to keep everything functioning till the end? And think of the bottleneck you create in the first 2km? I really have sympathy with the organizers trying to please the sponsers and riders alike. Plus the guys want to add unique features to the race - BUT Sabie is unique enough there is no need for this.
