  1. 27d 37' 26" E, 25d 52' 13" bike wash ablution and showers safe parking swimming pool Boeries and cold one's available at Nancy Drew's place
  2. well worth doing at least once (no matter what yr cycling experience is) yr experience of the race unfortunately depends pretty much on the weather but if the wind stuff's it up, its a good enough excuse to go back and do it again. unfortunately the enjoyment of the scenic route is directly equal to how much you trained too little, and you will probably not enjoy the scenery as much enough - the race will be over so quickly , you won't even notice the scenery either but nothing beats the feeling of going over Suikerbossie feeling like a million dollars and knowing its downhill to the finish
  3. just remember guys - you can say anything on the hub just dont say anything about AC - not sure the rule #
  4. well said! but we know its never a case of what's good for the goose....... not in hub land
  5. so because he was only tested positive once, it means he was clean before that? interesting thought indeed..... funny how the story changes when it suits - but I supppose that's rule # 2022
  6. I didnt even consider the hurdlers, but yes at least 3/4 candidates for title of "the best" agree that he shouldnt have run at Olympics, but insparation indeed. For London ,IAAF, SASCOC, IOC and Oscar it was the best PR - untill the outburst
  7. Tim i beg to difffer Oscar finished 7th at SA Snr Champs this year Time wise , I dont have time to do a proper search as to who ran fastest this year etc It will probably be Oscar as he was the one who ran the most races in trying to qualify If the others had similar opportunities they would have done so he ran his fastest time in the qualifying for the semi's at Olympics - 45.44 is he SA's best 400 m runner at the moment - not according to me, hence the comment no problem if u or Dracs or anyone else differ from me not trying to force my opinion - but perhaps I should as that is one of the "unwritten" hub rules
  8. saw that too yes thing is if they lash out against him, it can have far reaching consequences for the whole PR campaign they used him for heard this morning what Oscar earns p/a ,and the whole issue makes much more sense - unfortunately btw - the Brazilian has also admitted that since started using the longer blades 3 weeks ago, he has improved his time over 200m by a second (it was also the first time in 9 years he lost a 200m race - not refering to racing against able bodied athletes) now that is a serious advantage - with or without legs...... So Oscar will most likely be proven right, but still doesnt right the wrong of the outburst. As if SA needs any more bad publicity following the Lonmin saga He still inspires big time, and will continue to do so and what the heck does it matter to him or the world if we love or hate him
  9. u been on the hub long enough to know that not even facts can counter any argument/debate much like the newspapers not allowing facts to stand in the way of a good story
  10. and start another 10 page debate? me thinks not
  11. Oscar was the face of the Olympics - part of the big London & SASCOC PR exercises He got in through a B qualifier and being part of the relay team.... we have better 400m runners Naturally he was expected to win 3 golds and a possibly another in the relay at Paralympics The dream got shattered after his world record in the semi-final Imagine the dissapointment He should be used to it, but the hype and the hero status possibly clouded his mind and he showed his true colours its sad, and he lost a big following because of it doubt he can ever rectify it, no matter ho many times he apologises he forgot about the tough time he went through while the shoe was on the other foot too much money and status = disaster waiting to happen
  12. the hub for sure the place to raise it makes us all think about our actions on the road - if nothing else........ no point in trying to discuss it with them (especially with yr family with you) they already think they own the road, so they will love to get into an argument etc..... unfortunately these types will always be with us, ,they act the same way in their vehicles. saw it on saturday during a group ride.......... taxi passing the group, stopped to offload passengers, group passes, taxi passes, stop again...2nd time it happened lotsa comments, swearing and signals and hand waving. Why? Because he dared to pass the group and stop next to the road in the yellow line? No need to explain the response when it happened a third time.......... Fact is a 1/3 of the group acted like monkeys, the rest just carried on like decent citizens. So who was wrong/right? Cyclist - or a lot of us at least - need to do much more to protect ourselves and not always blame motorists for our own demise
  13. Wow Joffe - I am impressed, never thought you could come up with something as serious as this. Well written piece with plenty of ammo. Doubt though Mr Sam will be back for any inteviews any time soon. Sad state of affairs indeed
  14. happy for Reini, and Cherise now gets her chance ........ lets see what happpens
  15. as long as he has his steaks yes
  16. sure thing Contador hasnt raced for how long, so he shoudl look stronger Froome should also be little tired after TDF and Olympics. Should be interesting though, but some outsiders def in with a chance.....
  17. agree - the idea is to win a tour is it not how you do it doesn't really count afterwards - unles syou ate spiked steak but perhaps not everyone understands tour tactics
  18. maybe Burry would have done better if he didnt use USN *WINK WINK*
  19. learning to race is much like going to school, nowadays youngsters go to school in grade rrr/rr/r..... you get there and you have no idea what to expect (so you suck wheel and plenty air), what to do and how to behave as you go along you learn all these things and more, and hopefully graduate to the next grade etc some kids dont learn these things and dont graduate, so they just stay where they are next year new kids (new breed of wheelsuckers) come in and the process repeats itself we all start off by entering a race and have no idea what to do , what to expect, how to behave, etc as you learn more you tend to behave different - hopefully within the accepted norms of the sport some graduate and stop sucking wheel, others never do and will always be wheelsuckers. they're those kids in school who you love to hate cause they irritate you - sometimes without you even knowing why (suppose its the same anywhere in life) can't get rid of them, our roads also doesnt allow for riding more than 4/5 abreast so Peter if you wanna suck wheel, do so, but try and graduate at least
  20. nope, not that 1 more like club - can1manbesounluckyin2012
  21. Afraid I wont be there no. Nothing secret, but very sparse training yes. Adopted a new rest is best training strategy
  22. havent read the article, but after the Tulbach incident I sort of changed my mind about KE/DG, the PR that came with that DVD they realised almost made me change my mind again. However, if they accepted defeat at Epic and moved on, why bring it up again in the article in Tread?
