People price their second hand gear far too high and get pissed when you offer a fair price for their used goods... Take that online bike shop "BikeMarket" their second hand bikes are waaaaay too expensive..
Avoid cycling shoes with cleats and buy decent mtb pedals ... you don't need bottles get a hydration pack You don't need pants get cycling shorts and most importantly get a saddle bag for your spare tube, bombs, tyre levers and other important stuff

1/ Hated some of the rude entitled 30kmers shouting you're in their way. 2/ Was disappointed that when i got to the fork or finish or 55km at 10am was informed by the marshal that the 55km course was closed as they wanted everything clear by 12 and that the group of 55 kmers i was with has to go to the finish. My pace was ave 14kph so i wasn't that slow
I commute with a motorbike everyday day and never will i make a mistake of thinking i have right of way with these moronic car drivers on the roads... man, most of them are just far too selfish and stupid... Like Rivonia and Sandton Drive / Katherine junction... never think because the lights are green you can proceed... the idiots just turn across in front of you and expect you to make way for them. I just treat every car driver as a fool with a license that wants to kill you... much easier that way
