  1. Hi guys, I left my white POC helmet (with some Castelli GoreTex winter gloves inside) next to the car in the parking lot after the race on Saturday. When I sent back to look about 15 mins later, it was gone. Please let me know if anyone found it, or handed it in. Would be much appreciated!
  2. Stolen: Specialized Tarmac Rio Torch Edition 2016 When: 11 October 2020 Where: Cape Town, Western Cape Theft of multiple bicycles from locked garage Get further details about the incident in the Stolen Bikes section
  3. Tubeless ready option? Seems not from the article or the website...
  4. I completely agree, if it's okay to race the first 2 weeks and then pull out before the big Alpine stages, why is it not okay to skip the Alpine stages and come in just to contest the final stage up the Champs Elysees? Hypothetical situation I know... but hopefully you get my point! Just to be clear - I'm no fan of Cav. Would have far preferred to see Louis remain in the DD team (with some solid support climbers to assist)
  5. Just a heads-up to all cyclists who ride the Braamfontein Spruit during the week... I was held up at gunpoint close to the Ballyclare bridge on Thursday just after 18h30. Dodgy guy jumped into the path in front of me and pointed a gun at me. After trying to reason with him, he cocked the gun in my face - sense prevailed and I reluctantly handed over the bike... As soon as he had jumped on the bike and started riding back down the Spruit towards Rivonia, I started running after him trying to keep him in my sights. I eventually caught up with him near the scout hall (he wasn't a very good MTB'er) and managed to get some help from some homeless guys on the Spruit, and together we managed to scare him so he crashed and ran away. I was extremely lucky to get my bike back, unharmed. I am working with the police at Morningside Station to make sure we bring this guy to justice... Moral of the story: 1. Don't ride alone, even if you have a new bike that you REALLY want to ride before the weekend! 2. Try to assess the situation, and don't try to take these guys on on your own when they have the advantage 3. Try to keep the thief in your sights once he's ridden off (and is effectively disarmed) - you never know how the situation may turn in your favour. Be safe Matt
  6. I had the same problem, but undid all the knuckle joints and put a bit of carbon assembly compound (the grease with the grit) on each of the interfaces - no longer need to tighten more than finger tight. Definitely agree that the GoPro mounting is the biggest weakness of an otherwise amazing product!
  7. I was riding in the Cradle this morning and saw the Northcliff Cycles crew. Thought they were extremely friendly and didn't seem to be getting in the way too much. And there weren't too many cars on the road, so surprised that you found it so difficult to overtake... Oh well, I guess it's all a matter of perception - maybe you were bleak to be inside a car, and not on your bike, on such a beaut morning
  8. Great concept, but this beta version is rubbish! Picks the workouts up off my 910xt up nicely, but then refuses to upload anything. An 'upload failed' hangs the entire system. I eventually resorted to trying to upload workouts 1 at a time, and even this fails most of the time Discovery - please test your products in future before releasing them onto the market.
  9. Chat to the guys at Eudodia - there is some really good riding close to the shop. Otherwise, you can't go wrong with a trip up to Oak Valley, Grabouw, Lebanon and Thandi
  10. Incredible, gutsy ride! I'll bet Burry won over millions of supporters yesterday - what a legend!
  11. I hear the scientific explanations - and they're probably right. But I think the 'kumbaya' you talk about is awesome in itself, regardless of the science. Oscar's an amazing inspiration to able-bodied, para-athletes and non-athletes all over the world. Forget the science - celebrate the triumph of human spirit

I rode my ASR-SL (full ally - one of the first Yeti's to arrive in SA back in 2005) for about 6 years before I sold it to a mate of mine earlier this year. It's still going strong two wheelsets, 2 forks and 2 groupsets later... My riding mate had a similar experience with his Loved that bike, handled like it could read your mind, reliable as anything, and great service from Kirk and Colin at Morningside Cycles. Rode 4 Sani's, an Epic and too many other races to mention Only reason I changed it was to go the 29er route, and Yeti didn't really offer anything that I was looking for. Highly recommended - get the Yeti
  13. Really - so it's win at all costs for you then... That's the start of a slippery slope!
  14. I really don't see the point of all this. Say LA is found guilty - what about all the other guys who rode with super-human VAM's at the same time? Always focusing on LA DOES make this a witch-hunt, and it's a joke that AC could carry on riding while under investigation for clenbuterol while LA is prevented from participating with immediate effect based on allegations. Focus on cleaning up the sport NOW - what's the point of closing the stable door once the horse has already bolted!
  15. I have nothing but praise for Garmin SA's service, after changing from Polar many years back (due to the fact that every time you have to change the battery on a polar you had to wait for weeks to get the unit back!) I had a Garmin FR 405 that had a fault with the touch bezel. Took it into Garmin SA who replaced it free of charge with a brand new unit, sealed box with HR strap, Ant stick and charger - shipped to me at their expense. Not sure exactly how old it was, but think it was over 12 months. One of the best customer experiences I've had in SA :-) About the non-removable battery - same goes these days for most high-end cell-phones (iPhone, Nokia N8, etc.). Can be frustrating if the battery goes, but as far as I'm aware, this is not a common issue I fully understand your frustration at being put on hold for 10 minutes - although friday afternoon is never a good time to try to get through to call centres in SA...
