  1. Changed Geax back Schwalbe front to both Canis 2.25. Best decision ever. So much more traction and no problems so far after doing 2 multi stage races (RE:CEM 200 and Greyton MTB Tour) as well as Knysna 80km. Lots of mud and was happy with how it dealt with the mud. I am 102kg and running 2bar pressure. Reading the above comments I think people may be running too low pressures resulting in sidewall cuts
  2. This just look awesome! Will definitely go and visit it soon! Thanks to Table Mountain Bikers and the Pedal Power Associations for funding and managing the build! To the Ace of Spade team...You guys rock! Thank you very much!
  3. Matt black and red just looks mean!
  4. I am 1.94 and I am on a Santa Cruz Tallboy XXL Fits me well....
  5. Go and shop and have a careful look. Build mine in 2011 for R43k. The frames is +/-R34. With Rand exchange going down the tube they unfortunately became more expensive. Paid R26k for my frame. You do not need more than XT. Lot cheaper to maintain. It is such a wonderful bike that I will do a lot of research and bargaining and budget stretching to rather go this route. My 10c worth of input.
  6. Do yourself a favour and go and build yourself a Santa Cruz Tallboy. You will fall in love with it and it is strong and it really is a dream to ride. I am a big guy and I ride mine hard and never had a problem with the frame. I just love it to bits! My next mtb will be a new Santa Cruz Tallboy:-) Enjoy the journey!!
  7. Do your self a favour and go and see the team at Sport Science Institute at Newlands. Jeroen Swart The Sience2Sport team is excellent. They will do your bike setup and you can do VO2Max assessment there which will help you with training zones and if you want to take it further also with training programs. They are really good and I can refer you to a number of people that have seen them. One tip if you decide to do VO2Max assessment make sure your body is well rested for at least a week before you go as it is intense and get a true reflection of where you at you do not want to be fatigued. 8. I have a set and although they have awesome sound the keep on falling out....not sure if it is operator error but I doubt it. I got so frustrated that I went and bought Adidas Sennheiser ones that fit around your ear. Not perfect if you wear glasses they tend to lever out of the ear but much better to wear than the Bose. The problem with the Bose is when you initially try them you think they will never fall out, until it gets wet/sweaty. So I do think it will be a person to person fit.... Good luck
  9. The new Garmin 1000 will be top of the bunch Will have to wait a little longer if you want to buy in SA. I am too scared to even think what it will cost! Garmin 800/810 is brilliant.
  10. Lots of corrigated road.....felt like 100km maybe slightly less Not a technical ride. Take the 26 full sus. Your @ss will be very happy with you!
  11. Is a bigger bike an option
  12. Where do you start looking for it? Or how? I have 260 activities on Garmin connect
  13. C:\Users\{YOUR_NAME}\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\Devices\{ID_NUMBER_OF_YOUR_DEVICE}\ but did not find an activity folder. I did find a Garmin device XML file that looks like its got some data but is not a format to upload. Still lost here....
  14. My last 2 activities downloaded from my Forerunner 405 indicated that it uploaded to Garmin Connect but when I view Garmin Connect it is not there/visible. Unfortunately I had the box ticked that indicated that the activity will be deleted after transfer. So I do not have a second chance to upload. I have used ANT agent as I continuously get error messages from Garmin Express. Anyone have an idea if this is lost forever or is it just hiding somewhere? Does the ANT stick keep some of the data? I am a bit lost here technology wise impaired
  15. Thanks for the Feedback Neil....I think this may just swing me to the Fenix2 PS: You not part of the Fenix 2 development team

    Who knows

What is the reason for the question?
  17. I am looking for some input on which is the better triathlon gps watch between the Garmin 910XT and the Garmin Fenix 2. Does anyone know when the Garmin 910XT's update/upgrade may be due?

    Knysna Cycle Tour

I am doing both....the mtb 80km will be tough!
  19. Any view on the Onza Canis 2.25?
  20. Been between 100kg and 115kg and been using ZTR Flow which have been excellent! Very strong and never experience any problems and I ride them hard!
  21. I do mainly Adventure motorbike riding and it is mainly on the dirt and I can tell you if you misbehave with that front brake you will have a very similar experience as with your MTB
  22. I am a big guy and run a 203mm in front and 180mm in the back on my Tallboy. On my 26er had 180 and 160 and continuously struggled with overheating. Never had that problem since I gone big and using the Shimano ICE Rotors. All the previous comments are correct. Your main braking wheel is front like a motorbike. I ride motorbike as well and I have actually setup my mtb and roadbike with right being my front brake! Being right-handed and riding motorbike I find I modulate the front brake better with my right hand.
  23. I noticed a number of inaccurate evalution measurements from strava. Anyone know why?
