Here is another thought v- join the Wannabe cycling club in S-west...the club is entering quite a few teams...and from waht I gather - they will sponser most of the entry fee... The last newsletter said they are still looking to fill some teams... Club's membership for remainder of year = R150 -00 DC entry fee = R500 Rather join the club, i'd say???

Ok, maybe they are trying to "avoid" the entries of development teams??? That way all of your bikes will at least be safe at the finishline??? :whistling: hat + coat ==> door...

Explain to me why one has to devide the total km's per entry fee to see it is is "reasonable" or not?? what changes over longer distances? More waterpoint? better quality waterpoints? better overall race organization? number of entrants? To me - 50km or 500km...makes no diffrence...it's the value /experience you get for the entry fee... The Cape August is what R250??? how do the two events compare from a "value of maoney" point of view?

Just got a call from a person (disabled and living at back of his mother's little RDP house in a low-income area) who I financially assist from time to time.... Told me they are sitting witout water as the tik koppe had stolen their stop tap connection and the municipality has been unresponsive for two weeks now! They desperately need to re-install re-connect water as he / they cannot live without any water services... My point being - crime does not know any borders / skin colour / areas etc. etc. even the poorest of the poor are subjected to theft. (if it's got value - someone will take it!!)

Heaven forbids that i EVER trap a guy halfway throught my window...I cannot write here what i would do to the trapped guy...don't mind doing some jailtime for those actions!! It will be worth it...

The problem with your analogy is that you should not convert the currencies... That derailer job of ~$500 should equate to R500 here....which it does not. I'm no economist but the earning parity between the two countires comes to mind...e.g what does R10 buys us here and what does $10 buys them over there???

Guys, yes the routes are available...but you need to become a club member...works out to something like R25 per month!! (with option to join for the last 6 months of 2013 at half price). Please go to Wannbe website for details. By joining (& getting a number board you will be able to ride the route whenever you want) But only member boards are allowed on the route...this was a big requisite from all the land owners - so that they can identify club riders from rogue riders (roof ryers). IF we cock this up...they will simply kick us all off their land and we are back to square #1 I would encourage one and all to join up...it's not much and the benefits are endless. Yes, Stellenzight can link up to Steynsrust and perhaps later will join up to Lourensford(but not yet). There are routes available but they are privately being maintained at the moment. Currently, the Wannabe club has negotiated ~120km of track on 23 farms between S-west and Stellies...it's a mission to keep it open / maintained etc. etc. Come give us a hand every now and then!!
