  7. PLease please lord....let the prosecuters not mess up this case and see the perp walking free!! Please please.....we NEED a conviction on this one...a strong conviction!!
  8. That is natural selection via Darwin's theory...she wasn't fit to breed....
  9. Guys, any feedback regarding my question?? I got a tazer for R160...it's quite compact and light weight... what is the general opinion on resisting & defending yourself??
  10. yes, agreed...I was very surprised to see that!! Since WE are to affect change on the roads that we would like to see....that is a perfect way to start (leading by example). It certainly did impress me...and left me thinking..."I should do the same next time I'm in that position!!"
  11. This morning on my way to work in stellenbosch...7:30Am i noticed a cyclist (obviously out on a training ride...kitted in a lumo green windjacket) who had stopped next to the road to help a commuter guy - trying to get to his farm for the days work..... YOU SIR!!! has restored my faith in humanity...there are still good guys on the road. It is not very often that I see cyclist stop and help workers commuting (who had obviously punctured)... Well done - I'm sure you also greet fellow riders when you pass them...
  12. DAmn!! All teary eyed again!! I just can't get over this...dammit.....grown men don't cry!! @Karooryder & @DAngle......I know your feelings all too well....something in binding us together here - we haven't event met in person (yet!!)
  13. Jip....R1000 When I bought my new bike the LBS told me when we took the front wheel off to put in back of my bakkie...ALWAYS screw the axle back in...if yuo loose it...a new one costs R1000!!! That was back in Oct 2012...glad to see the price hasn't gone up in 2013 {sarcasm off...}
  14. Guys, just bought myself a nice compact tazer....2,8 million Volts! I plan to carry that on me when cycling alone... My question is this....If the victim had carried one of these tazers, would it had made a difference? did he have time to get tazer into a position to zap the crap out of assailant???
  15. Erm....the DOCTOR??? when they are dehydrated, and cannot keep fluids in other than through an IV line??? Have a heart, dude!!

    Archery.

    Just don't let one arrow slip over the yard fence!! Hate to see the neighbour with an arrow in his back door... PS: just bought my laaitie a paintball marker....not long, then I think he would like to get into bow shooting...i'll encourage it!!
  17. yip, agree... BUT I was so upset for leaving the new link at home...I wanted to just get back...and not bugger up my chain any more.... AND I had one half of the link still functioning so i got ~12kms of gentle cycling out of it - enough to get me home... At home - you would not believe how I had to battle to get that bloody broken piece off!! Doubt that i would have been able to do that in the sticks...and without a decent set of pliers...
  18. Jip..also agree... Furthermore...thnik about it...if you pump your tyre extra hard the first few times....the pressure will open all those pinholes /microscopic pores that the manufacturing process can't prevent....and these then fill with the liquid sealant. After a while, when returning to "normal" tyre pressures...the tyre is not stretched so much + the little pores has filled & sealed with liquid sealant and "relaxes" to to a state where they will not be leaking any more..../this can vary from tyre make to make as well as from tubeless (i.e much less of these pores) to non tubeless (has pores like a sieve!!) which will be much harder to seal at firts, but theoretically not impossible to do.
  19. No, never ever used a bomb....it sealed so well i never had to top up or re-inflate fro about 1 year!! Guess the sealant just started drying up after a while and coagulated onto itsself. The tape worm stuff was the sealant on the rim-tyre edge..shows you how good the stuff actually works...I had to pull it all off the rim edge...
  20. absolutely correct...some rims will be more challemnging than others...but definately not impossible. Rather go ghetto rout than rim strips in any case. Oom Kaspaas - No, no need for new tyres...why? it the same principle... Gregor - hook up with some one like suggested. It will be worth it + you make new buddy...all ove a beer or two!!
  21. Tyre choice, & a bit of luck ...if I have to guess....this new bike of mine have 2 x Swalbe Racing Ralphs EVO's on...from one seal up firts try....back tyre...??? Fork me George...it took about 3 weeks of constant refilling & inflating etc etc. to get it to seal up...now there is no problem. And I could never find a leak place...
  22. DAmn right!!! I think I should repackage them and re brand them as a revolutionary chain cleaning kit!!! My next million made...right there!!
  23. no chance...they are way too flimsy to cause anything but a cleaning action!! PS: this clean procedure was shot 2 rides before my near long walk....
  24. Yes, I confess...I did a previous ride ~40km and did not clean chain before this weekend's ride... ALSO - I'm trying out thsi new chain lube...called "castrol whatever is left over in my iol can" with a nice old squirt bottle applicator...make the chain black & dirt a little bit quicker than usual.... see my next post on easy chain cleaning...
