  1. Also wanted one of these beauties, but couldn't find one in black...
  2. I most certainly don't work for SARS! (Although it feels like they're working for me judged by the amount of money I pay them every month!)
  3. Rub it in, why don't you?! Defo need to get out there soon!!!
  4. "Welcome, your real name is not Swen is it?" Fortunately not. I've read of this chap, apparently he owes some dudes some money but has now flown the coop! Glad I don't owe anybody money in Euros at the moment....
  5. Fortunately I have only had good experiences buying from the Hub classifieds, but can't say the same about selling: buyer transfers money to my account but then "forgets" postage, or paying and promise to pick up but then asks for it to be posted and I never see the money I then have to fork out for postage again. Don't get me wrong, being able to advertise and sell old or unused stuff is great compared to trying to do it via a shop or worse scumtree. As a seller I've always gone out of my way to show I'm honest and trustworthy, sometimes even delivering the goods in person, but so far NOT ONCE have I received any seller rating, be it good or bad. Which makes it difficult the next time to sell as people are more and more hesitant to buy from classifieds if you don't have a good positive seller's rating. I also don't tend to say much in general, so my post count will always stay low, disqualifying me from the "Roux'tjie criteria". If I give you a rating after a transaction, please be a decent person and do the same.
  6. Hi to all You know when you have slipped into a room at an event where everyone knows each other except you, and after a while you have been there long enough for new people to arrive and they introduce themselves properly? Then you feel you've been there long enough to be "part of the crowd" but too embarrassed to admit you're still "a noob"? This is a lot like that. I'm in the Western Cape where the concentration of MTB trails are the highest, and surprisingly ride a mountain bike! Venture onto tar from time to time to have an interest and respect for roadies, but a budget which prevents further exploration. Those who know me personally know what I do for a living, but which I prefer not to divulge on a public forum. All above board though! Happy riding and racing!
  7. That is one seriously cool looking bike. I really like the colour schemes.
  8. Just ordered 3 pairs of the trail, can't wait to try them out! See you guys at the expo, likely I'll buy some more!!
  9. Just spoke to two of Discovery's "advisors" at their store in Sea Point. They weren't able to answer any of my Team Vitality questions without phoning for help. Good start. Just shows how clued up Discovery keep their own people. First of all Team Vitality is not up and running as they are experiencing difficulties with "licensing" in the Western Cape - don't know when either. Secondly, their stance now is that you won't get refunded the promised "up to 50%" for any races you have already pre-entered for prior to joining Team Vitality. So don't hold your breath for CT Cycle Tour, CT Cycle Tour MTB or 99niner for those already entered... And their excuse: "Remember, Discovery is bringing out new products all the time. maybe join next year to save!" Clueless bunch of nitwits...
  10. Oh what an awesome ride, starting from the registration goody bag down to the personal attention from the organiser! I will definitely be back next year, but keep it quiet as the fact that there were no bottlenecks made this one so much more special. Great down to earth festival atmosphere as well with mix of farm equipment and amazing vintage cars on display.
  11. I stopped and quickly had a look at her. She was a bit dazed but otherwise ok. Advised her to rather stay sitting down and flagged down passing safety marshall on a motorbike to tend to her. Saw her again just before we left the next water point when she arrived. I asked her again if she was ok and she assured me she was. I didn't see her again afterwards so I assume she was alright. I didn't see het fall but her helmet carried a nice big dent, most likely prevented more severe injuries.
  12. 80km was very good, very nice in the forest. A lot of mud made it fun, but I think if it rained it would have been a COMPLETELY different story! I also envy you guys with small frames (body and bike) when it comes to the hills. It's a shame there wasn't a "Buffalo" category, as it would have made my effort seem a lot better.
  13. And now I know why I always feel better when I walk into CWC. Well done, guys and gals. This is an awesome gesture!
  14. Thanks for making things a lot clearer, Bobby. And thanks for your hard work. It put things in a much better perspective, and I for one would have responded differently in my earlier posts if all the facts were known, but as many other I replied on the OP's very controversial statements. Personally I spend a lot more time on the Tokai, TableMountain and Tygerberg MTB trails, (but that is due to my location), but I can understand the different challenges in trying to maintain/build trails on forested land compared to negotiating with a single or small number of wine farm landowners. Not just with he difference in landscape, but also dealing with the overall attitude of whether bikers are welcomed or barely tolerated. Good luck with this endeavour. Another 2cents' worth: I agree with @NicoBoshoff, give us the details, make it easier for people to contribute. Post the details on how and where to donate and I'm sure some peeps will respond. As a human race we are naturally lazy, so I would be much more likely to give a donation if it is easier. We are also scared that more will be expected of us than what we can give, but I am sure that any donation, however small (or large) will make a difference in your efforts. Just looking at the showing off-part of the Hub, there may be a few guys who can afford the equivalent of a new tyre/chain/carbon bottle cage etc. to help out!
  15. I've always driven past Ride In (unaware of its existence) and also just had coffee and a bite at the JH Café. Food is ok but coffee a bit iffy, but staff have always been friendly. I've noticed the Scott branding and rental bikes on the last few occasions, but was more aware of the Spez-branded signs on the trail (still sometimes manage to get lost so need to look at the signs A LOT). All just seemed part of usual marketing strategies. For a "volunteer group" to close down trails to protect/spite the rest of us riders just because they are a bit p!&&ed off about a competing brand's signage ( who dared to erect it without contributing to TMM) I find extremely immature. In our very market-orientated era surely there must be a better way to go about this than "if you don't do as I like, I don't wanna play anymore" attitude.
